have been a regular consigner at Wardrobe Rescue. The owner enforces rigid rules with no flexibility and was very disrespectful to me. I have no desire to come back. Their policy requires calling to make an appointment to pick up items or checks. I tried calling for three weeks with no answer. When I finally reached someone and explained that I was on my way to pick up my item, they told me they wouldn't help me without an appointment. The employee kept repeating the rules, even though I explained that I had been trying to reach them for weeks and had already driven 30 minutes to get there. When I arrived, the owner came out only to lecture me about being "rude" to her employee but she couldn't even explain what "rudeness" she was referring to. When I mentioned that no one answers the phone, she said they're too busy and that I should have just kept calling--essentially implying that her time is more valuable than mine. She ended the conversation by telling me that if I didn't like their rules, I should consign elsewhere. It's disappointing to see a business treat loyal customers this way. I'd recommend consigning somewhere that values communication, flexibility, and basic respect. read more

Extremely disappointing experience. The clerk followed me around the store and then asked me to leave my bag at the counter to continue shopping, while other customers kept theirs with no issue. When I asked why I was being singled out, I got no clear answer. I left and took my business elsewhere. No customer should be made to feel profiled or unwelcome. read more

I was referred to this place by a local Facebook group after asking for suggestions on consignment shops with luxury bags for sale. I'm glad I made the trek out here! The store is small but packed full of beautiful things. Admittedly I only paid attention to the handbags, but there are racks and racks of clothes, and maybe if I ever take the leap to wearing designer labels I'll be back to shop. I had messaged them on instagram after following their page this morning and they responded promptly to my inquiry. I showed up just a little bit later and the shop attendant (I assume it was Nicky because that's what my receipt said, and I believe she's the owner) was happy to greet me. Any handbag I wanted to look at she'd take off the racks for me. She set the LV ones (that is what I was there for) all out on the counter and let me touch them, try them on, and look inside. I ended up purchasing a beautiful and in-pristine-condition Gucci bag, but next year for my work anniversary gift I'll be back, hopefully to buy an LV!! (They were slightly out of my price range). All the handbags I viewed were in excellent condition. Now I know where to go to find authentic, pre-loved designer bags. I was happy to find this place, and was happy to buy here because Nicky was so nice and willing to help me out with my purchase. I'll be back!!!! read more

Beautiful shop with excellent quality selection of luxury brand clothing and accessories. The prices are better than retail but not a bargain. I love the unique collection of different brands together and everything is like new or even new. There is a lot packed into a small space and it's gorgeously arranged. The staff is very busy and seems a little standoffish at first but if you ask for help they are very kind and helpful. I really prefer to be left alone shopping until I need help so I like that type of customer service. I have also consigned some items and had a good experience. You do need to make appointments to drop off and pick up and it wasn't easy to get an appointment which was too inconvenient to me with my job. After a few weeks of stalking the gorgeous finds on their Facebook page, I finally had a chance to visit this place in person. It was a bit of a drive from DC to Vienna, but I'm glad I made it. The shop is tucked away on a quaint, busy street. You could accidentally drive right past it (as I did at first) if you don't know what you're looking for. There is a small parking lot in the back (shared with other businesses in the strip mall) but the spaces are narrow and availability is tight. So you may have to allocate a few extra minutes to finding parking once you're in the area. The shop itself is a well curated mix of items from a variety of brands and price points. Everything is well organized by size and, within that, color. There is a transparent pricing system that results in items being marked down the longer they stay on the floor. In addition to the mostly better brands and bridge line items you can find on the rack, there are display cases near the front with luxury goods (sunnies , purses, etc.) as well. Prices are reasonable, though I did see a few items that I thought were over- or under-priced. The shop runs generous sales so keep an eye on their Facebook page for more details. I didn't find anything on this, my first visit -- which isn't a total surprise because I'm packing on some extra COVID pounds that I must shed and so I'm between sizes at the moment. But I think if you are a stable size and know your style preferences, you can probably find at least one little gem in this store when you go. I liked that the store was well organized and thoughtfully curated with lots of items. The dressing rooms were large and clean. The staff was helpful and welcoming but without being too pushy or intrusive. They seem to know their regular shoppers and give them a personal touch. All things considered, I would rate the store a 3.75, which rounds up to 4. I have to shave off a star because the store was a little too dark and cramped to shop comfortably. There was so much there that it was difficult to maneuver and easy to overlook things. Also several of the racks and items were up very high, and as a petite woman, I found it was noticeably uncomfortable to see and access everything that I wanted. Finally, I didn't see a ton of items that were truly my style. I think their ideal customer might skew a bit older or younger than I -- say comfortably in her 40's and 50's, or down in their 20's. But all that said, I still think the store is a decent one. I probably will only visit once a season or two given how far away it is from me, but I do think everyone should give it a try at least once. read more

I THOUGHT I liked this store a lot. Sadly, all it takes is one very bad experience. I went to go purchase leggings at this store due to an 'emergency'. I had ballet class but forgot tights or leggings to wear with my leotard. This store was not too out of the way. I called ahead of time then came in (just to make sure they indeed had leggings). The atmosphere seemed great, not a lot of floor space but cute nonetheless. The first employee who helped me original was Loretta and she was GREAT! Loved her, she gave me advice on which length of leggings to try, very sweet over the phone and in person. IN REGARDS TO THE LEGGINGS ITSELF: 4/10 - material seemed to be a bit on the lower quality side. Bought capri length for a total of $18.55, which I thought was quite expensive for what it was but I was in a pinch so who am I to complain. They were also a O/S (one size) and tiny! [I wear size 3 pants for perspective]. I had to stretch them over my claves and thighs to the point of making the leggings sheer. Luckily my friend from class saw my text and bought me an extra pair of tights for class so I didn't need the leggings anymore. **HERES THE BAD PART** Next day I went to return them. Initially the first employee was sweet and understanding when I told her why I needed to return them. However she did not know how to refund the card. She called a manager or owner over to help, JENNIFER. Jennifer flipped the leggings and accused me of wearing them telling me I had knee marks. I told her I only wore it once to the fitting room. She kept staring and mumbled that I had worn it while issuing me the refund. As I walked out the store, she continued to say "This was definitely worn." to the second employee. I could not feel more uncomfortable and disappointed with the consumer service. Again, really liked this place but Jennifer left a bad taste in my mouth. What a shame. read more

I came in for the first time today with my daughter and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Although my daughter is only 12, they treated her as though she was a valued customer instead of a kid being dragged around by her mom (when in reality it was a mom being dragged around by her kid!). I usually do not write reviews, but I am compelled to write one today after the most disrespectful and rude treatment from the owner of Wardrobe Rescue. Five months ago, I consigned two pieces of designer luxury jewelry. I stopped in this morning to see if my two items had sold. Initially, I was told they were "donated" because they had not sold within 60 days ( a part of the contract that I failed to read). However, the owner told me that my bracelet was still "floating around the shop," but she could not find it and then reverted to her initial answer about both pieces being donated to charity. Upon expressing my disappointment in not selling my items, I then articulated my disappointment in her donating them without my knowledge. I asked the owner if she could provide the charity's name, and she said no. She had no idea--only that they donate to multiple organizations if items do not sell after 60 days. Later, I called back to see if the owner could once again provide the name of the charity where she "donates" all the leftover luxury items. Once again, she had no idea--multiple places, she said. I asked if she could provide a tax donation form, and she said no. She asked me why I was calling her, the owner of Wardrobe Rescue, and "bending her ear for 30 minutes"? I had only been on the phone for less than three minutes to seek information about a tax donation form. The level of disrespect, lack of common courtesy, and customer service are appalling. Not being able to provide the name of the charity to which luxury items are donated is questionable and bad business. read more

I have been shopping and consigning with Wardrobe Rescue since Jennifer opened the store in 2011, when she opened in the original location on 123 / Maple St. in Vienna. I have always found the most beautiful, quality items in this store. A few years ago, I followed her over to the current location on Church Street. In both locations, I have always felt like I was shopping in a very unique and beautifully curated shop. The shop is always stocked with the quality items, for every price range and taste. That being said, due to the size of the store and goal to keep the shop well-stocked with quality merchandise, there is a limit to the number of items that you may consign during the consignment period. They are very selective on what they will accept. To me, all of this is a win-win for both the consumer and the consigner, as the shop is always filled with quality items and, as a consigner, they try to select items that they think will sell - so both the consumer and consigner get something out of the experience. I have always loved the staff. Donna is a hoot - she has also had a lifetime of experience in retail and experience with luxury brands. Ryan, who has quirky and fun style, has always helped me when I have brought things to consign and has taken very good care of me. They are selective - but as I mentioned above - this helps both the consumer and the consigner. There is also another woman who worked there part time (who was also a hair stylist). I regret that her name is escaping me at the moment, but she was also just as nice and helpful as the rest of the staff. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Nicky, the new owner. She helped me with my consigner account in the recent transition from the ownership from Jennifer to Nicky. It was such a pleasant experience... I love Jennifer and am so thankful that she established such a wonderful shop in Vienna. I am excited for Nicky, as I think she will carry on what Jen established and will take the business to new heights. I have been consigning with them since they first opened on Maple Avenue, with near 100% sales rate. I buy from The Galleria, Tysons, Pentagon usually and sell here at a break even or at a loss. It's usually how it goes. Once it sold a LV I bought in 1999 in excellent condition I actually got more for. I also had a business across from them & befriended The staff. So it was pleasant to consign with them while at The same time catch up with a neighbor. ***AND THEN*** One day I brought in a BRAND NEW CHANEL which was not really working for me as a practical wallet it was just cute. A classic black neo sold out in stores. I THOUGHT ABOUT consigning it and getting something less cute & more practical. The other staff convinced me leave it w/ them *FOR AN ESTIMATE* . Then I got a bad feeling and motioned it back, she refused to give it back and clutched it tighter while saying she will give me an estimate so I just thought ok, how bad could it be. When I followed up they told me "IT SOLD". Whaaat? WITHOUT MY PERMISSION & at a lowball price. When I confronted them (which is hard enough to do), The way to "rectify" this is she banned me from The store & lectured me about "not buying anything & chatting". I don't think so. She banned me due to doing me wrong and not wanting to hear about it! So fine. Then you can read about it publicly. In The end: she refused to pay me except The UNauthorized lowball price, and pretty much said "too bad, so sue me go ahead" in a very cold and contemptuous manner. Let it be known that regarding "not" buying, I did buy this 1 top I didn't want, in order to do them a favor. So it's false I never bought anything. And if you HAVE to buy it should be in The consignment contract. It's not. Very dishonorable. I have not reported them to The BBB or pursued relief. In fact I just got around to posting in this review after a few years. Ihtbbttg. Horrific people. Owner is a "Karen" and The worst part of The store. Those who don't know The extent of callousness harbored by The owner simply have not gotten involved as much as I, or returned something as one reviewer done so below. Kind of hard to support small businesses when contemptuous owners r so apparent unlike w/larger businesses where it's appropriately concealed. If anyone knows what I can do about this without eating up so much of mY time (like suing) or fruitless (like getting The BBB involved) please contact me by message to let me know! I feel robbed and stolen from. Thanks UPDATE: Even worse is that The owner is a nurse. And that she is now back practicing. yikes. This is the best consignment store I've found in Northern VA! I've been here multiple times and always find lots to love. Take your time and enjoy browsing, it is a small store but there are so many wonderful things to see. Today I found lots of gorgeous designer bags, including Louis Vuitton and Chanel, and I bought my long longed for LV Speedy! The clothing is wonderful too -- all pieces well curated to be both seasonal and in style. I bought a gorgeous pink dress. I love this place! They have great clothes and really great handbags. I also consigned about $800 worth of clothes and jewelry there. The staff are friendly and flexible. I have sold several items so far and I have used them as store credit. If you consign you get 10 percent off. The prices are great as well. Very affordable. They have a website where you can check on your items at any time. No need to go in or constantly call the store like with other places. One caveat. Please make sure you know when you need to collect your items, which is 60 days after they are placed on the floor. read more

And now she is on here accusing me of an untrue review. I said I was "unsure" if my other pair had a shoebox because I was temporarily confusing it with another pair of Stuart Weitzman pumps that I own which never had a shoebox. However, by the end of our conversation in store I had confirmed I had both shoeboxes. They were both purchased full price and had original boxes with their style name and colors (see photos for proof). And she feels the need to come on here to comment that she's "happy I am no longer consigning there". She clearly should not even be working in the retail industry because of her unprofessionalism. She is unable to admit any wrongdoing, she can't take any criticism and she treats customers poorly if we show any dissatisfaction with the service. A simple "I'm sorry we misplaced your shoeboxes. We will be sure it won't happen again" would have been more appropriate than chasing me out of the store saying "what are you going to do about it?". Well it's their loss because I have plenty of designer items to resell. But I've now learned I make more money on eBay anyways and at least my items are in my own safekeeping! read more

Wow! Just found out they "donated" what was there to sell because I didn't pick after the 60-day selling period. When asked why I didn't get a reminder email/text/call, I was told that they have so many consignors that if they didn't that "they'd be here all day". They donated my two brand new with-tag cocktail dresses that I had spent hundreds on. I don't even get the tax benefits for the donations. Their answer "well you should've read the contract". This is why local business don't last. I will be back to either consigning on line or at Havana Vintage in Great Falls. read more

Absolutely do not recommend. Very poor customer service. I walked into the store to consign some high end items. The owner, Donna, was sitting at the register and without a smile or looking up, she said "consigners go to the back." Yikes. Okay then. So... a little put off, I wandered to the back where there was another person going through the consignment process. I noticed the girl reviewing the items was very unfriendly to the consignor. However, I was excited to consign here for the first time and assumed maybe they had a disagreement. The girl in front of me finished. My turn! I waited for the pale faced - black pixied hair cut girl to make some sort of indication that it was my turn, but nothing. I attempted to make light conversation and failed. She so clearly did not want to work, that she made feel bad for being there. Over the next 10 minutes, she scowled while muttering short answers at me while keeping her eyes turned down. She'd make a random statement that would be clearly inconsistent with their practice - like: "After 60 days, items are donated, no exceptions!" Well, just behind me were two pairs of winter boots that had been there since February. "We dont accept things with wear." Just behind me again, there was a leather bag that looked like it went through the washing machine. I asked about exceptions for high end items so that I could ensure my exceptionally expensive goods would not be tossed or taken by the owner after 60 days, the girl looked at me with a scowl and told me that those are Donna's items, and "she gets an exception." Both women were miserable. What a total disappointment and waste of time. Instead of consigning and shopping there like I'd planned... (The girl at intake was so cold, that) I took my things and left. I'll make the drive back to Current Boutique in Alexandria, where everyone is friendly, happy to be there, and happy to see you! read more

i found this consignment shop to be very organized with its process. I sold some items immediately, and they were very prompt to send me a check even before my consignment period ended. They also communicated via email during the whole process by providing an itemized list and how the items were priced and sending regular updates when items sold. They let me know well in advance that I had two left over items to pick up and had everything ready for me when I came in. They checked my account and saw that I was due to receive another check. Instead of making me wait for it to come in the mail, the owner printed on the spot. read more
