Great little store with mini bins to shop for. In all the place is clean, not junked up and the staff cares. The only negative is the pricing structure and the cashiers inability to follow what is written on the price board. Guess that's why they just covered it up! read more

At one time it was a good place to thrift This past year the color of the week went from 75% off to 50%, this store had been reorganized..management made bad decisions and the follow a strict pricing inflated guide. Over priced, shelves of junk that consist is incomplete Itma, dollar tree items marked 6.99, donations are being filtered and sent elsewhere where. Don't waste your time ...all junk!!!! read more

Went to the goodwill store today. The Fairfax store is very nice. it is clean and has good inventory. They are moving the inventory around so it is hard to find the smaller frames and the tchotchkes. The cashier Briana was so kind and helpful. She is a great asset to Goodwill. She radiates positivity. read more

This is the best thrift store I have ever seen. They churn through inventory every day.

The store is super organized and is pretty spacious! Nice fitting rooms and good prices! Only thing I'm concerned about is staff. They're all teens (which isn't bad) but they seem so tired :( They're very kind but they work hard and are struggling to keep up with the lines. However, the lines aren't long. This is one of the better Goodwill stores in Northern Virginia because of its selection of items, plentiful parking, and orderly layout. The location of all types of items is clearly laid out - though I hard trouble finding the 'boutique' section - and they don't seem to change the organization every other month the way some other Goodwills do. Also the store is relatively big, so everything is on short racks instead of some items being double stacked on high racks. This store is very clean, including the two bathrooms. There are 2-3 times as many fitting rooms as at other stores. There seem to be fewer damaged items than at other stores. Of course selection is always hit or miss, but I think the inventory here is pretty good. This Goodwill is in a big strip mall with some good restaurants and food stores near it, so I like to stop by those places while I'm here. Also means there is plenty of parking. read more

This was my first time at any Goodwill and I went here on a whim with minimal expectations. This place has terrible organization of their inventory, especially in the children's clothes. There are no labels for sizes and you can be sure I'm not digging through the rack hoping to be lucky and find a size I'd need. The baby clothes inventory was minimal as in, maybe, 10 items total. For myself, I was specifically looking for new sneakers and t-shirts. I did find a nice pair of gently used ASICS for $4.99. I was going to give up the t-shirts because everything I was flipping through was low quality BUT perseverance did pay off; I found 3 xxs J-crew solid color tees that looked never worn. I wasn't sure xxs would fit, but they did, and each was $5! I can't see myself coming here regularly because the inventory wasn't great and the organization is practically non-existent, but what I did walk away with is good stuff! read more

The racks of garments seem well organized. However, the management policies make purchasing quite difficult, impossible on this visit because access to fitting room was terminated prematurely. In specific, the posted hours, already shortened an hour due to lingering Covid restrictions, state the business is open until 8 PM. So I selected garments, a process that took a half hour. I found the fitting rooms locked. Staff informed me that Goodwill management had closed the fitting rooms 30 minutes before store closing. Had store hours and policies been well explained, I might have had a pleasant visit when the store was actually open. As it was, the visit was a waste of time, significant enough to write this warning to others. Again, my suggestion to this business is to communicate policies clearly, thereby avoiding wasting customer and staff time, with associated loss of goodwill. read more

From the standpoint of someone who has pretty much exclusively donated to Goodwill, I'm a little disappointed that the manager would send out an all staff email saying something that was donated may have sensitive Personally Identifying Information in it and was donated by accident by spouse. I understand it was our mistake to begin with, but we caught it very quickly and called to ask the thing be separated for inspection or removed. It was probably still sitting outside at the point we called honestly - just about an hour. Just terrible way to handle a situation like that IMO. Instead of handling it within a very tight group and finding it, they send out a staff email and post signs saying to be on the lookout for this PII. Now I don't know the people that work there and in no way am I disparaging them, but if there were someone nefarious who would be interested in getting their hands on something like that, they would be the first to go find and get that item and they would not report it. An email blast and signs reminding folks in back to be on the lookout is about least secure way to handle that situation. I don't feel like the situation was taken seriously and I do not believe I will be donating to Goodwill again. Take your stuff elsewhere. AND don't let your spouse take stuff in - they may grab something important in their haste!! read more

It's always been just ok. Staff isn't rude, and they're not overly nice. You will spend more time in the checkout line than you spend shopping. It's way too slow at checkout. I wish they could really fix that. But you have to respect the work they do and how they try to help people in the community. Also respecting the environment in how they keep clothing out of landfills. It's good to support organizations that support others in a nonprofit way. They care about the work they do and their mission. Not just about selling stuff. read more

Here's what I loved: **50% off on clothes on Tuesdays- this was a nice surprise when I stopped in! **Clean & well-organized Unfortunately, that was about it as the selection was mediocre in my opinion. I love to thrift but don't have time to do it often and I'm usually prepared with a list when I shop; I appreciate being able to get most everything I need in one stop. Looks can absolutely be deceiving. This has to be the smallest Goodwill that I've ever seen, but it turned out to be a real winner. This place has little to no stale thrift store smell, and there are 3 clean fitting rooms. There are lots of TVs, all of which are on for you to see if they actually work. So what's the down side? Though the racks are very organized and well-spaced from one another, the clothes are very poorly organized within each rack compared to other thrift stores. There are no size labels on the hangers and the sizes are not as cleanly separated as is the case elsewhere. This makes finding your size a bit more time consuming than necessary. The book section is pretty lacking. No cool cookbooks or language books. Pretty much just your run-of-the-mill cheesy drugstore book selection. As far as clothing, women, if you're looking for suits then this is actually your place to go! For men, the selection isn't so great, but there is a wide selection of VERY conservative and not-so-stylish, simple ties. Music seemed like a ton of 80s and classic rock. Not my taste, but surely someone else's. The VHS and DVD selection was okay. Not horrible, not great. Lots of the hugely popular video games that are still around, but here they are mostly PS2 games. Lots and lots of nice dishes and glasses for those looking to build up their supply. Tons and tons of toys--big, small, bright, and ready to light up your children's eyes! In terms of prices, Goodwill is certainly not the best. Blazers $6, pants $5 or $6, sweaters $4 or $5. Tagged brand name items are considered "boutique items," and are priced differently from everything else. DVDs, VHS, and CDs are, however, competitive with other thrift stores. read more

This Goodwill is clean, organized, and fairly quiet. Parking (car, not bike) is in front of the store. There's enough you shouldn't have a problem finding a space. Inside, to your left are shoes/house decor/recreation equipment. Mens and kids clothing are forward beyond the round register area. And the women's/books/kitchenware/electronics/dressing rooms are to your right. I was impressed that care had been taken with clothes tagging to minimize tag holes post-purchase. A good bit of the clothing was in like new or gently used condition as were the shoes. Pricing was a dollar or two higher than what I'm used to for Goodwill (in California), but it was reasonable for the items I purchased. For $26, I got a pair of Talbots Heritage pants ($3-half price color), two warm J Crew sweaters ($6 each), an American Eagle button down heavyweight flannel shirt ($6), and a Prana hooded sweater ($3-half price color). All items are in like new condition, but the Prana sweater is very stinky! Overall, a very nice thrifting experience. read more

We've been going to this place for years to donate our unused items and well before it was a Goodwill. After my last trip and this isn't the first negative trip in the last few weeks that I've been to, will absolutely be my last. The individual they have working in the back or just the most rude people I've ever met. We're literally going out of our way to donate so that these things can go to a good cause. The last straw was this last visit where it seems every time I go, I have to explain exactly what the item is and what it's purpose was so this guy can quickly tell me oh you don't have the parts, it's not fixed completely. It needs to be painted. It doesn't have everything. I was simply trying to drop off a wooden item that you can stack plants on in your house but because this young man didn't understand what it was he simply said I can't see it as being that and simply walked away. Since I knew this was gonna be my last visit I'd literally took this thing out of my trunk and threw on the ground and drove away I'll never ever come back to this place again I cannot believe a place that accepts donations has these types of people working for them. Honestly to the staff out back...if you need to get your probation hours met because of whatever crime you committed, maybe you should find another place get your hours completed!! read more

Careful please they have "designer" bags on a separate area and then claim they don't authenticate merchandise. I was not aware of the damage to the bag and was able to see it was a fake bag with damage being sold for 50$. I asked "is that Louis Vuitton bag for sale" she said yes without say well we don't actually know because we don't authenticate merchandise. Just be cautious. read more

I found this because I was in the area and felt like thrifting. Definitely one of my favorite stores now. I picked up 5 books, a silk scarf, a beautiful woven bag, wooden utensils, and a gorgeous woven basket. They offer 50% off their color of the week and some of my items were yellow so my total was under $20! I didn't look through their clothes because I don't need any at the moment and I only shop for things I need/want but at a glance, there was a great selection of women's items. I made out like a bandit. My purchases: - A side table - Loft dress with the tags on it - various jewelry - a couple pairs of shoes ....and it was 25% off select items. I was a happy camper. It is a bit of a hike from where I live, but that can be overlooked when I know I am going to find name brands and virtually unused furniture You are the Will of Good and I love you dearly. I went to Goodwill on 11/11/16 to drop off several items and browse. I did not like the drop off location at this location. Although where to drop off the items was clearly marked, you have to go down a very narrow alley to get to the back of the building. I arrived when it was beginning to get dark. I would felt very uncomfortable (not being able to see the cars coming down the alley) had it been darker. The donation drop off staff was very helpful and friendly. The location has a fairly good selection of 2nd hand items. It did not have particular section that stood out to me. I thought the merchandise was very well organized. Although the staff was friendly, they individuals working at the cash register were slower than what I had experienced at Goodwills previously. I waited in line for about 20 mins., the family in front of me had several items that they the person at the register rang up the incorrectly. In a nutshell, there is nothing wrong with this location but there is nothing outstanding about it either. If you're just browsing or live nearby, worth a stop. However, I will drop off my items somewhere else in the future. read more

I am a big fan of the Fairfax Goodwill! I go there frequently. First of all, the volunteers are helpful and friendly. I am a frequent thrifter and have gone to a variety of Goodwills in the area, and this location has BY FAR the friendliest and most accommodating workers (which I very much appreciate). A few of the items I wanted to purchase had lost their price tags along the way, which has been an issue in the past, but the volunteer told me not to worry, and quickly(and pleasantly) found someone to give me a price with no problem or accusatory looks; great customer service! At the Annandale Goodwill, the manager accusingly told me that I could not purchase several items because "someone" had ripped the tags off to "probably try to get away with getting a better price," so I'd just have to wait till it was repriced 24-48 hours later and just hope that I found it again at that time. I found the Fairfax GW to be easy-going and easy to work with, which makes me visit this location regularly over other GW in the area. The second reason I love this location is because this GW is clean, organized, and items are effectively sorted (clean, in new-good condition, gross/damaged items not displayed on racks). It's easy to find what you want to look at and I LOVE that clothing is sorted by size AND color. They have clean/roomy dressing rooms. They have a beautiful collection of shoes, and they are all in great condition and reasonably priced. I don't typically buy shoes at thrifts, but I always buy a pair or two here when I visit because they are in such good condition and high quality. The only downfall (and not really a problem.. just unnecessary/annoying)... the "designer/specialty" clothing rack - ugh!! There is zero rhyme or reason to which items receive overpriced tags just for randomly being chosen for this rack. I totally get keeping Gucci, Prada, Coach, etc. on a special rack that cost more or behind the counter, but there are very few "special" items on this rack... Eddie Bower?? Hollister? Ann Taylor Loft? These are not high-end designers that need jacked up prices.. The regular racks have BCBG, Urban Outfitters, and J. Crew that cost just as much and are priced regularly. It seems silly to have shoppers pass up items because they are overpriced on the "specialty" rack when they could easily be sold for regular prices and earning profits for a great organization.
