I honestly didn't realize smoking was allowed so close to dining tables, and it made it impossible for us to enjoy being there. When we sat down, we were also given only one menu for two people. We considered moving inside, but it was so incredibly loud that having a normal conversation seemed nearly impossible. I would still like to come back and actually try the food, and I'd be happy to update my review based on that experience. Next time, though, I would probably visit on a weekday and sit inside to avoid the smoking and hopefully have a quieter experience.

Recently I attended an event called "Transcendent Tuesdays" which l found out about on their Instagram, in the parking lot this establishment had a small group of vendors which included both from St Johns which was offering free samples of life-saving drug tests for fentanyl and Narcan for those in need after overdosing. While I do not partake in illicit drugs I wanted some on hand for those that may just in case of an emergency. There was no one @ the booth and I noticed the next booth over a lady getting a tattoo. I asked her if she knew who was operating the both and she informed me that she was. I told her how important and wonderful it was that this was part of the event & she replied, "Thanks & help yourself to the free samples." I then took a few samples and proceeded to explore the other booths when a person came over with 2 other women in tow and said "These are for our community & you're not part of our community," I replied, "That's why I'm here is to support this division of the LGBTQIA community." She then very aggressively & loudly replied, "You're not part of this community." I asked her, Why are you speaking to me in such an aggressive negative tone and she replied, I'm the event promoter and as a transgender lesbian free speaking female I can speak to you however I want," to which I replied, "Then you will be talking to the air," & I walked away as she seemed to enjoy being confrontational & wanted to impress her 2 friends in tow with her nastiness. After a couple of minutes, the promoter came over and wanted to start giving me a hard time again about the samples & I told her that I asked the lady who was getting a tattoo that runs the booth & she told me to help myself. So the promoter walked over to that lady and asked if that was true and she replied while rolling her eyes, "Yes I told him to help himself, what's the big deal?" The promoter was then even more visibly upset because what I told her was the truth & she then stormed off with her 2 friends mumbling under her breath. I proceeded to the opposite end of the area & was chatting with another customer and I noticed the promoter pointed me out to the owners of the bar who came racing over and interrupted my conversation and said " I need to talk with you right now." I said sure & pardoned myself from the customer. The lady who interrupted us said in a nasty tone "I own the bar & I was told that you said something inappropriate to one of the attendees & I'm going to have to ask you to leave!" I replied, "That is a complete lie let me tell you what happened," to which the owner replied, "Your side of the story doesn't matter at this point we just want you to leave, now!" The owner wanted to continue to talk over me when I gave her the respect & courtesy to listen to what she was saying, she then reiterated to me that she was told that I said something inappropriate to an attendee & we're going to ask you to leave & I replied, "Well it does matter to me & I am going to stand up for myself and for the truth & then I will gladly leave." So I did, and I got no response except mean faces from her and her partner. So I left. When I got home I was really upset and my feelings were hurt because I had come to support their establishment and the event and ended up being accused of something I never did and the owner & her partner took the side of their promoter over the truth as the promoter was putting money in their pockets as this is a weekly event. The fact is the promoter was clearly in the wrong and even after verifying with the booth vendor what I said was the truth she still had a bone to pick with me perhaps because she knew she was in the wrong and was embarrassed in front of her 2 friends & didn't like the fact I was speaking the truth! After sharing my story with others in the community I was encouraged to write this review for several reasons, 1. I didn't speak inappropriately to anyone at anytime, not my style. 2. I was there to support this division of the #LGBTQIA community. 3. I believe in transparency & truth for all and will not stand idly by when someone falsely accuses me. In closing, no telling what the promoter said to the owner as there are always 2 sides to a story and the owners need to remember that and not try to shut people down when trying to do so as it is integral in the everyday workings of an establishment. Shame on the Transedant Tuesdays promoter for her mean-spirited actions & more importantly, shame on the owner(s) Emily & Mara for willfully supporting her bad behavior & displaying the same themselves. I find this whole thing to be so disappointingly ridiculous as it happened over drug test samples to save others' lives. That is the important takeaway here. I hope soon the LGTBQIA bar owners will support the paramount of LISTENING & treat all with respect especially those who stand up for ALL who speak the #TRUTH and not choose to believe lies in the name of greed. First, I need to say I feel guilty as hell writing this but it needs to be done! I really really want to support them, first Lez bar in years and in my neighborhood. I've been here twice and was incredibly disappointed both times. Can't complain about the small space, what can they do?! But ridiculously overpriced drinks like they're some high end posh joint, this is a sad thing to do to the female queer community. Lower your prices and maybe we'll buy two drinks. $17 for 4 tbsp of wine. $10 for fries? Literally frozen curly fries from Ralph's. The worse part, the service and energy from one of the Owners and waitress are so unwelcoming. I simply asked the Owner for water and got the side-eye. I had ordered food and just wanted a water to go along with my food for crying out loud. This place is also cramped, not the good high energy kind of cramped either, the should I leave in 15min. type of cramped. One night, I went with a group of 6 women and we took up two small square tables, once we were done eating, the waitress made us feel like it was time to leave. We were made to feel uncomfortable for just hanging out even though my friends were still sipping their drinks. Two of my friends left early and immediately the four of us that remained were pushed onto one small square table that is really meant for two. This space is not meant to come hangout with friends and grab a drink or bite. You eat/drink then GTFO! RubyFruit, I want to see you guys thrive and here for years to come but through word of mouth, people will stop coming. You've got a packed house right now but that won't last if you continue on this way. Customer service is everything, I've been doing it for over 20 years! You completely lack hard in this area. If you as the Owners cannot do it, hire people who can. Visit Starbucks, they hire based on personality and energy. Visit bars in the neighborhood, you think Akbar is trying to kick people out for not drinking fast enough? You didn't do a survey in the neighborhood as a new business should, to see what your pricing should be. Also, I'm sorry. Do better. read more

I came all the way from OC after hearing great things about this place, so I was excited to check it out. I walked in while my partner was parking- I'm 9 months pregnant- and asked where the restroom was. The response I got was beyond disappointing. I was told I could only use the restroom if I placed an order (understandable.) I explained that I was planning to dine, but really needed to use the restroom first, pointing to my belly as an explanation. The staff member was completely dismissive, saying he didn't care that I was pregnant and that since I came from the street, I wasn't allowed to use the restroom unless I was a paying customer. (After I just explained I will place an order right when I get back) I was shocked and honestly disgusted by the way I was treated. We were really looking forward to a nice evening, but after this experience, I have no interest in spending my money here. I'll be sure to let others know as well. As a restaurant owner myself, kindness and customer service goes a LONG way. read more

I was excited to visit this restaurant, especially after seeing the LGBTQIA+ flags outside, which gave me hope for an inclusive and welcoming experience. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt cold and uninviting. The staff did not make me feel welcome, and I was immediately asked for my credit card after placing my order, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. The food was mediocre at best. The bread was hard, the bacon lacked flavor, and for nearly $30, I expected much better quality. For a place that seems to pride itself on inclusivity, I left feeling completely out of place and unwelcome. I hoped for an enjoyable meal in a supportive environment but left disappointed in both the service and the food. I visited while in LA and stopped by during their queer coworking space hours. The vibe was super chill, making it a great spot to get some work done. The Wi-Fi was fast, the drinks were great (highly recommend trying their [specific drink if you remember one]), and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. It's refreshing to have a space that feels inclusive and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. One of the people I met there said it's normally a gay bar, but I couldn't tell other than one rainbow fan on the wall. After the gig, a bunch of guys with leather Mongol's vests came in. The situation diffused, until the sound guy decided to punch him in the arm and continued aggressively flipping him off and mocking him. Later, we were all dancing and having a good time when we looked over and realized the sound guy was mocking us. I recommend the manager of this establishment hire someone who can do their job without getting wasted, putting their hands on customers, and throwing a tantrum when someone asks them to adjust the sound. If a polite request to turn up the keyboard is enough to send you into a drunken rage, maybe working with the public isn't for you. Or working, period. Truly embarrassing behavior from a grown man who was literally being paid to be there.

Yeah, and that's understandable but I've never felt like I've been ignored, overlooked, or disregarded and I wanted to make sure to share that for others to understand the totality of who the people running the establishment are. Often times Stephanie is who I interact with when I go in there and she's been nothing but cool, attentive and accommodating. Always full of genuine gratitude for everyone that walks through the door. That has been my experience. I've made a lot of great memories at Untamed and with the people there. The food is good. There were less than 10 patrons when I arrived. You order via QR code here. I ordered a Guinness and nachos. I received the nachos, but still hadn't received the beer after 45 minutes. At that point, I noticed a White patron that came in after me received a Guinness. My Black friend went and asked the server (who was a White woman) if she forgot mine. 10 minutes later, the server set down a beer that was 70% foam without a look or a word. Meanwhile, I watched this server seemingly ignore Black patrons while approaching other patrons and asking if they needed anything, including my Cuban friend. My Cuban friend got so irritated, she went and told the woman that it seemed like people of a certain skin complexion were getting better service. The server denied it. The server still did not care. She then took 10 minutes to bring my Black friend water and never made eye contact nor spoke to my Black friend or me. Later, another patron approached me to comment on my funny shirt. I asked her how her experience with the customer service was, and she said the waitress acted strangely towards her (Black) friend until she said something to her about it. As a queer woman, I would love to support a queer-woman-owned sports bar, but apparently I'm not too welcome there. Nachos were good. The main TV setup is four separated screens, so the middle of the game is kind of invisible.

And over time, this place has always had a fun vibe and reasonably priced drinks. The folks here seem to always be friendly as well. Even after all these years, this place could still get pretty crowded (the space isn't huge so that helps). They also have the Dodgers games on when available so that's great if you want to grab a drink in the area and don't want to miss the game. We waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated and another 20-30 minutes before anyone took our order. I understand that restaurants get busy, and we were trying to be patient because we could see the staff was overwhelmed. When we finally got our beer, I told our server, Noah, that I could pour it myself if that would help. Instead of explaining the situation politely, he responded with attitude and said, "You know I can't serve you guys, right?" I apologized, but then he told us, "Nah, you guys have to leave." This was frustrating after waiting so long just to place an order. We were never rude or disrespectful to the staff, so the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary. I completely understand being busy, but customer service should still be respectful. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression despite the great welcome we received from Nate.
