Love that this place offers so many different combinations. I ordered the half rice and half roll pod and it was an excellent decision. The channa rice is probably one of my favorite combos (not just here but I would say in life too), and the aloo gobhi kati roll was just alright (I would go with the paneer for any rolls). I was a fan of the egg that they put on the side of the rice and in the roll as well. They do skimp on the chutney though, so ask for some on the side. read more

My daughter and I went for a late lunch. The service was not friendly or helpful for someone unfamiliar with what a roll pod is. We both opted for the combo which was a roll and rice bowl, to determine what we might like better for future reference. But what was worse was that the roll which was a roti with a dry tasting fried egg greasy roti. I had the mushroom masala filling which did not taste good to me. And did not seem like a masala. I did moderately enjoy the rice with chick pea masala. My daughter doesn't like things to spicy and opted for 1 star and said it was more like 3 star. Let's say we won't be going again. I love this place, healthy frankie like rolls with choice of fillings at a super reasonable price. A frankie or a roll is Indian flatbread, optionally with egg filled with an entree and veggies and sauces. I love the achari chicken, paneer and mushroom frankies here. Its nice and spicy. The staff is super friendly as well. Sometimes when I am feeling healthy I would have the salad/greens with the fillings which are great too. The Roll Pod's menu is a unique concept that can accommodate to your preferences. When you look at their menu, you'll probably be reminded of MOD or Chipotle where you get to customize your meats/fish/veggies, a roll or bowl or salad, spice level etc. You get to choose between a roll or a bowl or combos of both. A roll is a roti with a pan fried egg that wraps your filling with chutney and lettuce/veggies. A bowl is rice with your filling and egg and chutney. When we went, we each got a combo pod - which is one roll with 1/2 a bowl. This is the perfect amount of food and also allowed us to try both! The roll was fun to eat but at the end of the day, I think I preferred eating the fillings with rice. Definitely worth trying the roll because some of my friends really enjoyed it! Fillings - the best fillings we had were the Achaari Fish and Aloo Ghobi Matar (cauliflower and vegtarian) both were REALLY GOOD. Their chicken and mutton filling were a little bit on the tougher and drier side so I wouldn't recommend it. Spice level - default is level 3 which was actually REALLY spicy for me (i normally go for 2-3 star in spice). Others thought the 3 would probably be equal to a spice 4 or 5 at thai restaurants. So I would recommend going lower on the spicyness. They have yogurt drinks - their Mango Lassi is REALLY good. Not overly sweet! So definitely get it because it complements the food and spicyness of it! I didn't really like their rose lassi (reminds me of lotion XD) but if you're into the rose, you could give it a try! We also got their Mango Kulfi for dessert - it's their homemade mango ice cream/sorbet-y sweet that tops off your meal really well. It really helped cool the spicyness in my mouth and the pistachios in there were a wonderful and delicious twist! Their staff are super passionate and friendly so don't be afraid to ask them any questions you may have. Service is fast and interior is simple and clean! I really like this place because you can get a taste of India without being committed to a whole giant entree, perfect for a lighter meal during lunch time! In a way, it's kind of like an Indian Chipotle, you can either choose a roll or bowl (or both). You can go carb-less and do a salad also. They have many choices for protein whether you want meat or vegetarian option. It automatically also comes with egg, but you can ask for no egg. The chutney sauce that comes with it is actually quite addicting. I enjoyed the nice crunch in the roll. Service was great when I came, we got a free lassi for checking it! We got a variety of things to try, since we just ate here for the first time: Pav Bhaji (skip it), everything else was very flavorful. Chicken masala, chili chicken, paneer masala (ok), mushroom masala, fish achari (good). Our only complaint was we got 3* spice levels on most items, and 1* for our kids. I was so excited to try Roll Pod and it did not disappoint! Food is a great value. I was literally stuffed and it was so yummy. The owners are very hands on and it was wonderful to meet them and hear their story! I ordered the Rice Bowl with Mushroom Masala and Paneer Masala. I'm not vegetarian by any stretch but I LOVE a place that gives tons of veggie options. SO flavorful and filling. I also had a Rose Lassi which is delicious...and also very filling. The defaults are egg (I was asked egg/no egg) and spice level 3 (scale 1-5). I chose a 3 and it was perfect. I'm not one for too spicy but it had more than enough kick for me without being too much. There are also vegan and gluten free options. OH and free chai tea! Yum! They gave me a rice roll instead of two roll pods. 5/12 So I just call from Roll Pod explaining that they have two types of Combos and I may have ordered the Roll and Rice one. I still like the food, and I like that I can crank up the spice and it doesn't become overpowering. The Achaari fish is excellent. Actually, most of the fillings are excellent. (I have never tried the Paneer ones). My issue now is that most days it just isn't worth the hassle anymore. 1) They have raised prices again. Used to be $12.95 for two rolls, now it is $13.95. Egg used to be included, now it is an extra charge. There are also extra charges for most of the fillings, up to $2 PER ROLL. Your two-roll pod is now $18.95, and that is really a struggle to justify. 2) They would rather not deal with you. You don't ever talk to a human or feel welcome anymore, they just have a touchscreen where you order at the counter and it disappears into the back, where the cooks face the wall and ignore you. They appear to do a booming lunch delivery business and I guess "ghost-kitchen" is how they prefer to operate. If you're lucky you might get a nod when your order is ready. Or not. 3) They've never been fast, but it seems slower the last few visits. 4) They moved from a spot across the street and the new parking lot is tiny, cramped, hilly, and limited access. Another hint that they want people to pull up, grab their order, and go away. 5) No reason to actually eat there. They have some tables, but the vibe is very much "get out". So even if I order there, I always end up slinking out the door. read more

The Tri Pod (3 rolls) you can mix and match (5/5). I got the Chicken masala (5/5), Chilli Chicken (5/5) Spicy though just be careful and Aloo Ghobi Matar (4.5/5). Each roll comes with a default egg option. Each roll is filling and has some veggies in them too. Finally I got the Mango Ice Cream (5/5), amazing. Its like eating a fresh mango. The Roll Pod restaurant has the same vibe as the Roll Pod food trucks (which is my favorite food truck in SLU) - same boxes with lids, same tasty paneer, aloo and chicken, but there are comfy seats here so it's a good place to come with family. Heard great things about this place and was excited to try. The food didn't disappoint but every thing sort of did. First with the good stuff - I ordered the roll pod with chicken and a mango lassi. Great crispy texture on the outside and super flavorful on the inside. Spice level was nice too, and apparently you can choose the spice level but I wasn't offered that. Mango lassi was thick and sweet as it should be. Onto the improvements - when we arrived and waiting to order, (no one in front of us) we were ignored for quite a bit as they were talking with each other. The dining area was pretty messy with the tables available, a courtesy wipe would make it less sticky. Also, trash was filling up the bins and I know it was later in the evening but no one wants to see that next to the water and free chai. Also, instead of calling out numbers on the orders when they're ready, they just yell "hey you" so what's the point of giving us a number? And hey you could be anyone. Overall, food was great and would like to try more of the menu, but off putting service and ambience will not bring me back. Maybe I'll try their truck at SLU? read more

First time I've stopped by this place, I pass it often and decided to try it out. I ordered the combo pod, which comes with 1 roll and a half order of rice topping which your choice of toppings. In the roll I ordered it with paneer masala and on the rice I got Achaari aloo, 4 stars topped with egg. The order came up to $13.16 and was ready within 15 mins. Very filling meal, you really get the bang for your buck here. Couldn't even finish the whole thing in one sitting, even though I was really enjoying the meal. The rolls were dowsed in oil, the spice level was not adequate, and the meat in the mutton masala is too tough to chew. The serving portion of the pav bhaji they gave was way too small. It was more like a sampler than part of a meal. __________________________ Someone from Roll Pod responded promptly and said they would look into my feedback. I appreciate that they are caring enough to watch for customer feedback and to improve things. Apparently, you can order a roll with less oil. I've been to their food truck downtown and stopped by the restaurant inn Bellevue today. I really like their food, I can tell the ingredients are high quality and everything was very flavorful and fresh. I ordered a roll pod with chana masala and chickpeas and another with aloo ghobi. I feel I got great value for what I paid. My tip would be that if you don't like spicy food, order the one star. I got 2 star and it was plenty for me- don't think I could've handled any more stars. Also the free chai is a nice bonus, and they compost. Will definitely be back here next time I'm in the area. Unfortunately the free chai is gone but the food is still great! read more

However felt like the prices were a little high for the amount of food we got, also both fillings were really spicy, too spicy to really enjoy the actual other flavors. Also they were super busy fulfilling online orders that it took awhile to get my walk-in order ready and then they applied the groupon incorrectly. Never been to the restaurant, but tried their food truck in South Lake Union (there are a couple actually) about a dozen times! Undoubtedly, they serve up some top-of-the-shelf Kathi rolls (and, certainly value for money)! I usually get them sans the egg, but each of them I've tried - paneer, chicken, lamb - have been fabulous! Now, if you want to take something that's already 4/5 star and kick it up a notch... get their green chutney (mint/cilantro...pudina/dhaniya) and turn your roll into some HEAVENLY GOODNESS! I've seen folks eat their rolls without the chutney and you have no clue that you came so close to a 5+ star roll! Never tried the bowls... they're on my list next. Pro tip: The right way to eat the roll & chutney is to grab a tiny portion of the chutney in a spoon and lather it onto each bite just before you eat it. Don't try dunking the roll in the chutney, the stuffing will fall out. Other restaurants trying to serve up rolls, take note: chutney is what turns your already awesome roll into super awesome! And, the biggest disservice you can do to the chutney is skimp on the salt or tanginess (lemon or lime). This place does it right! read more

Will try online option next time. 2) messed up order by putting veg and non veg rolls in one box. Though happy that they fixed it by making new.
