This was my second time to the Roe in Monroe, Georgia. This restaurant gets four-star without the stuffiness of a four-star. It's custom made cocktail list is inventive and great all cocktails are well balanced, and refreshing. The food is to die, for the chef de cuisine is inventive, and stays true to farm to table. In addition to the regular menu, they have a chefs menu which changes according to availability from the farms. The pastry chef should be commended for their creativity on the desserts they serve. The wine list is also perfect for this restaurant. The servers are friendly, happy, and very professional yet personable. The ambience is friendly, and warm yet, modern. This is a fun place to go and the vibe is fantastic. It should be noted that they have a butcher that comes in and cuts all their meat and fish. This restaurant has everything from small plates too large entrées and salads. Go to this restaurant and enjoy yourself .I am sure you'll be back because once it's not enough! read more

The first few times we came here it was very pleasant, great drinks, food is excellent, good atmosphere. However, it is very pricey and the last 2 times we went with our daughter they didn't want to seat us outside because we were a party of 3. The tables are for 2 only apparently and the high tops are for parties of 4 - 6. It's one of the silliest things I've ever heard of. We can't sit outside because we're a party of 3? We'll just go sit outside at Ameci's then. Shame, I really did like their drink menu. Maybe we'll give it another chance if it's just me and my wife. read more

Great place tucked in Monroe on S Broad! Great atmosphere! They have limited setting right now , but more coming. We had a party of 6 and sat on the patio. It was cool, but they fired up the patio heaters and provided some blankets!! These folks are too awesome! Foods great! Cocktails are wonderful! We will be returning for a long time! read more

People who complain about slow service in these times, especially for a new restaurant, and give low ratings when the food and everything else was great should be roundly ignored. Wife and I stopped in here touring downtown Monroe. One of the hostesses took the time to share the history of the location and show us around. We were seated and waited on fairly promptly. They have a full bar and some good beers on tap, which is a plus. My wife ordered the roast beef sandwich and I ordered the pastrami with a side of the Beef Tallow fries, which we shared. The sandwiches were incredible, the pastrami I being the best sandwich I've had out in a long time. The fries were either pulled too soon or had sat awhile, as they were a bit soggy still, though the f,average was amazing. All I all a very enjoyable experience and we will definitely drop in again the next time we're in Monroe. read more

Luckily Food is so amazing you almost forget about the delayed and infrequent service of waitress. We had our food deliver with no eating utensils, we had to ask someone other than our missing waitress to get us silverware. We were celebrating and the service was the only thing that put a damper on the day. We had to order an additional drink through another waitress. Would have loved to give 5 stars read more

This is the second time we have experienced rude host staff-which is why I am writing this review. We made a reservation about a month ago for yesterday (Mother's Day). We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation. It was myself, my husband and our 1 year old daughter. The hostess tried seating us at a high top table. When we requested we have a lower table so a high chair could fit, she said "um this is the table we reserved you for." Since when does a restaurant reserve 1 SPECIFIC table for guests. While there were plenty of other lower tables available? We had a reservation--we asked for a lower table again to accommodate a high chair and the was told, "no it's not this servers turn in this section." Finally, we were able to get a low table. Unbelievable that you would try to even sit a family with a baby at a high top table in the bar area. Manager never came by, just stood at the host stand chatting with the hostess. It was very slow for Mothers Day and I never saw him go to any tables. Terrible Mother's Day experience. read more

We made a reservation 4 days prior to the day we were going and requested an inside table for 6. On the day of our reservation, we received a call asking if we could move our reservation to a later time because another party was seated at our table. We had reservations at an event that night and could not come later. We arrived 10 min prior to reservation time, were seated outside and an hour after we were seated, we still had not received drinks nor had our order been taken. We asked twice about receiving our drinks during this time. We had no choice but to leave and eat somewhere else in order to arrive at our event on time. I do not recommend The Roe. read more

We've eaten here a couple times and have had mixed experiences. The first time was relatively soon after they opened and with some friends. We were treated to a fairly pleasant time with regard to service and food, nothing spectacular, but not terrible. However the second time we chose The Roe, it was for our anniversary so my wife and I were really hoping for a better experience since some time had passed and perhaps they'd gotten thr bugs worked out. Sadly, we were disappointed. Firstly, I'd made a reservation weeks in advance with the request to have us seated with some relative privacy (booth in the corner, something to that affect) but upon arriving and having to wait for more than 45 minutes (WITH A RESERVATION), we were seated in the very front of the restaurant in a two person tiny table, which was one of two in the middle of four tables. Which we would've made the best of except these tables were so tightly packed together, we were literally dodging elbows with the couples to our left and right. And conversation?..as long as you weren't concerned with strangers hearing VERY clearly your discussion, no worries. Needless to say, we didn't have the anniversary dinner we were hoping for, but we made the best of it and chalked it up to lesson learned. read more

Had dinner to celebrate here last night, and I cannot say enough good things about The Roe! The ambiance of the restaurant itself is modern but playful, with every detail considered. Each bathroom has a unique, fun design, and all of the light fixtures are beautiful. The cocktail menu was amazing! Shout out to bartender Thomas-be sure to try his creations the Abarama Gold and Driving to Hawaii. The chef specials offered a diverse selection of in season and thoughtful dishes. I'd highly recommend the Sea Scallops if they're on the specials again, but the Shrimp and Andouille Grits on their daily menu is equally as delicious. 10/10 will be sure to go again! read more

We booked a reservation for 6 a week in advance for an early Friday dinner at 6:15. The restaurant called me at 4:30 the day of the reservation asking if we could come later because they had a 5:00 reservation before us (Why should that affect our reservations?) .. we could not do later because we had reservations at 8:00 for axe throwing. The lady on the phone also said well we can put you outside at the bar area. I said no I do not want to sit outside. We made our reservations a week ahead for inside. She said ok. We arrive at the restaurant and they sit us outside!! In the direct Sun in our face the entire time!! THEN we sat there for an hour with absolutely NO SERVICE! NO DRINKS! NOTHING!! Upon finally getting someone to get us a waitress to our table she was very rude. She told us the bar had not even started to mix our drinks and didn't know when we would get them and furthermore she suggested not ordering an entree if we expected to get food anytime close to when we needed to leave. Needless to say we walked out!! And we WILL NOT be back and we will definitely spread the word to NOT go there. Worst dining experience we have ever had!!!! read more
