Wow! Amazing experience with friends. The restaurant is beautiful and tastefully decorated. Even the restrooms are uniquely decorated. Worth a visit while you are there. :-) Starting with the butternut squash blossom appetizer and charcuterie tray, absolutely delicious! Our table had blackened trout, salmon, hickory smoked chicken and filet mignon for dinner. Each dish was beautifully presented and very flavorful. Our server, Cody, helped to accentuate the experience. He was very pleasant and helpful with menu recommendations and wine pairings. I would highly encourage you to ask for him when you go. We finished the night with desserts. Banana pudding was delicious with glazed bananas and creamy pudding. The toffee chocolate budino was a cup of heaven! Rich, warm chocolate with whip cream. The most impeccably designed space in the most charming town. Every detail was thoughtfully placed or purposefully left alone in this historic brick building. Front of house includes a butcher shop from where all small plates and daily specials are curated. A nice touch to preview your meat or pick some up on the way out once you've sampled. Drink menu included craft beer, a small but diversified wine list, and simple but modern cocktails that presented beautifully with an appeal across every alcohol preference. The Smokey bourbon drink and mezcal margaritas were the table favorites. Our table ordered several small plates and while all had tasty modern twists our most memorable were the pimento cheese hush puppies, meatballs (I want them to can and sell the sauce!), gourmet pigs n a blanket, and a charcuterie platter that should have been double the price with its sampling options. The crowd favorite entree was definitely the pork chop special. HUGE portion cooked to perfection with deliciously done veggies and sauce. The fries with the steak-frites special were worthy of ordering more a la carte. Salmon was cooked to perfection on my entree and everyone's plate was wiped cleaned and shared amongst our party! The chocolate bundino dessert was described by our server as a cross between lava cake and soufflé and wound up being the perfect size and richness to round out our meal. Our service by Amanda was outstanding - so attentive and really knew her menu. We took ourselves to the outdoor patio following our meal where Thomas/Tommy kept our drinks flowing. This patio will be packed in warmer months but it was made comfortable in the winter with heaters and sporadic throw blankets for customers to wrap up and stay cozy. Came on a Wednesday around noon for lunch . I had checked earlier in the day to see if I should do a reservation and saw all slots and times open so did not feel I needed one. Got there it was busy but quite a few open tables and we were told it would be a 15 minute wait. Clearly it was not that they were booked but under staffed. As we waited our 15 minutes we noticed a few things only 2 wait persons working and one occasional runner to bring food to table. Looked at the butcher area don't plan on buying anything no one around working if you wanted to very strange. We were seated we had to ask for a wine list they only do sandwiches for lunch all sounded very good but feel prices steep for just a sandwich chips are cheap guys just include them make you feel like you are getting more for your money. We waited for about 10 minutes before approached but it was the runner trying to serve us another tables food we still had menus on table and no drinks she was clearly flustered. Finally our wait person took our order we ordered 3 sandwiches fries and soup of the day. Food took some time to come out but we were not in a hurry if you had a lunch crunch time you would never be able to get your food. I never got my soup but the waitstaff never came back to check it was the runner that brought our food The burger of the day very small looked silly on a big dinner plate. Yes! to this wonderful place. We were greeted by CiCi who gave the low-down on The Roe. The restaurant is decorated so wonderfully--the restrooms are a must see. Back to the restaurant--food and service were great! We got the Beet & Goat Salad and The Roe Burger with fries. Tasty & fresh. Good portions. We visited at lunchtime on a Saturday at 1:30 pm. First let me warn you about their floors.... very very slippery. They are uneven concrete floors with no anti-slip finish. I fell hard and still hurt the next day. With that in mind, no manager or staff came to check on me. The host that was walking us to our table just said, "are you ok, this happens to me all tells time". When I got to my table that my family reserved for my birthday. I found out that The Row had canceled our reservations and when they got there, they were told the reservation was canceled and we could just wait for an opening, but they were booked tonight. Thankfully, another staff member came and said he could set us up in the back. Once everyone was settled, the waiter offered certain things like bread and charged us for it. After the children got their food he ask them if they would want fries (in a sweet way that made them feel like he wanted to give them some fries. Never said there would be a charge on the bill, so we got charged for the fries he pushed on the kids. When I asked if there was calamari. He said no unfortunately they don't have any calamari, but he wouldn't blame us to leave and go find somewhere that had some. After dinner, I excused myself to the bathroom. While I was gone, the staff brought out my birthday dessert and just sat it at my seat. I came back to a very disappointing array of birthday wishes bc I wasn't in the room for it. btw, they aren the place to go to celebrate Birthdays, no special treatment or acknowledgment. There was just a card print out saying Happy Birthday from The Row on the table. To be honest, the food was not great, the staff had an undertone that made us believe they were trying to be nice but not. Everytine we started a conversation, we were interrupted by our waiter or someone else that entered the room. To be the only ones in this we had at least six people come in and out to service us. Although not a one came to check on me after I fell really hard. In the end, we were charged for things that we weren't aware of, made to feel welcomed and unwelcome at the same time, the food was tough and not good and I'm still in pain from the fall I took in the restaurant. $500 later we walked out of there so disappointed and disgusted. I had high hopes for The Roe. First time we went was for my birthday and we went high dollar and ordered the New York Strips for dinner and we just weren't impressed, but I will say we loved the bread and garlic butter. The next time we came back for my mom's birthday last week, and we went a different course. We ordered the bread basket again, followed by a small charcuterie board, and then each of us had something different for dinner. My mom had the beet salad and loved it, I had the burger and it was fantastic and my significant other had the chicken and enjoyed it as well. The wine list is a bit disappointing (I'm a bit of a wine snob and the best red wine they had was J Lohr ) but the craft cocktails are on point!! The staff is friendly (although at times a bit too busy) and the decor of the restaurant looks like it's from the Great Gatsby era. The building used to be a bank back in the day, and there are a couple of nods to the history as well. Definitely check them out and explore the menu and you'll enjoy this spot! read more

We all got something different for our entree and dessert and every single thing was spectacularly prepared. The food here is so well prepared, seasoned, Fresh, and thoughtfully put together. All the food is source locally. Prices were very reasonable. The Lentil soup was so tasty and flavorful that we purchased a to-go portion for later. Previous reviews critique the wait...we came on a Wednesday night and it was NOT very busy (still plenty of business, but we didn't have to wait for a table and the wait for drinks and food seemed reasonable). Our waitress was Jennifer...she was awesome! Very attentive and gave solid recommendations on food and drinks. The food (both entrees and dessert) was excellent (for a high end restaurant). Drinks were well made...we enjoyed most of them and the one we didn't care for was a matter of our taste and not the way it was made. The only complaint we could find is it was a little chilly, but otherwise, excellent choice for a date night. Definitely a special occasion location ($$$), but a guaranteed win for that!! read more

We went for lunch after church and had beet and goat salad (awesome) , tomato soup which comes with 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich (excellent but small serving for the price ) and my friend got a pastrami sandwich and had to pay almost $2 extra for the cole slaw that normally comes on a Reuben. I will say the homemade chips with their garlic ranch dip was the best thing we had. The bread is homemade and delicious. The service was excellent. I found the drink menu to be pretentious with all the unique ingredients and a pretty small glass for the price and no buzz from the alcohol. The names and drink recipes come from the bartender so you can't just order a regular margarita. Lunch is soup and salads. I will eat there again when I can afford it. I reiterated it when we came in, but they put us in cafe-style seats right In front of the hostess stand so not only did we not get to sit beside one another, but also we were crammed in next to another couple. The first time we went was for our anniversary. It was the first time we had a night to ourselves since our son was born. We expected to have a nice time, but the staff at the Roe took things to the next level to make us feel special. Just awesome! As a transplant from the west coast I've found it difficult to find a place to dine that's worth my time and money (especially considering inflation). The Roe is THE place! The food, ambiance, service, everything. My family and I sampled several items and drinks and there was nothing that wasn't just amazing. We also had the opportunity to meet the owners who are just lovely people. I love being able to patronize small, family businesses so that was just an added bonus. I can't wait to return. read more

I have visited 5-6 times and while the service and quality of the food has varied a little, overall we have experienced consistency. There are long waits on the weekend, so make reservations. I prefer lunch there because it tends to be less chaotic, but the food is excellent regardless. I have been able to sit outside twice, and thoroughly enjoyed that environment. Oddly, the restrooms are extremely memorable. There are individual restrooms, each designed and decorated like they were prepared for a magazine shoot. There is no separation for men & women since each stall is actually a separate room with locking door. I appreciate this when restroom lines get long. Once they expanded the restaurant, it has seemed less quaint, but I haven't noticed a decline in service or quality of food. I highly recommend The Roe if you are anywhere around Monroe. read more
