Stopped in this past Sunday for brunch for the first time and I'm glad i did! Everything was fresh and very tasty. We will definitely return and bring more guest. The ambiance was perfect and the playlist they were playing was right on par with the service!

chicken salad on flaky croissant. Yummy!

4 of us arrived around 1:00 on the Sunday during Memorial Day weekend. It was pretty quiet, with a few tables occupied. We chose to sit outside on the back deck, under the middle section which has a bar and covered seating. There are also 2 person tables along the edge for those who want sun. SERVICE: Emily was a wonderful server! She was attentive, friendly and very accommodating. She knew the menu well. FOOD: As this restaurant is also a butcher market, the quality of the meats is top notch. The roast beef and pastrami were fresh, flavorful and no gristle to stick between your teeth. The chicken salad was made perfectly, wonderful flavor on a flaky croissant. The wedge salad has a unique, light cilantro dressing. I prefer a more hearty tasting dressing like blue cheese, however, this is personal preference. The sandwiches are so full of meat, one can be easily split between 2 people. Price range is $14-16 for most sandwiches. BAR: The outdoor bar was not occupied, but it looked like a very good selection. The Chalk Hill chardonnay was an average pour, $13/glass. ATMOSPHERE: Inside decor is welcoming and very cool the way the bricks are integrated in the design. Outside is beautiful and clean. My only recommendation is to swap out the metal stools to seating that is more comfy. We all had to stretch our legs a bit at one point or another during the meal due to hardness of the seat.

This was our second time visiting The Roe, and we were fortunate to have Travis as our server again. He is so attentive, and made sure everything was perfect for us. He brought our kids lemonade refills without even asking. He is seriously the BEST. We can't wait to come back.

Smash burgers and fries with garlic aioli

The service was great! We went on a Saturday afternoon and got their smash burgers with fries. Everything tasted amazing and I would definitely come back

I have been here twice. Both times amazing! I am in love with their sea salt caramel chocolate soufflé dessert. My family really enjoyed their food. The small seasonal charcuterie board was delicious! Their in house made cheeses and salamis were exquisite. All the entrees I've had and tasted were also delicious. My niece loved their duck and it was her first time having it. I can't wait to go back again for the third time. Wish more restaurants like this in Monroe. Finally a place that breaks the monotony of chains and serves delicious southern fare and gives it some flare.

Great brisket sandwich and floppy beef fat fries

New to the area and found The Roe as a promising spot to enjoy a short drive with lunch and a drink while exploring our new surroundings. Overall looking forward to returning and trying additional items on both the food and cocktail side. While service and cocktails were good, there were some minor issues with the kitchen that would keep it from a full five stars. We ordered one of the specials of the day (Smoked Brisket sandwich on amazing bread) which was great. Ordered the beef fat fries to go with the sandwich. The fries were clearly under cooked . . . all were floppy soft and a couple weren't cooked through. We also ordered the banana pudding and while it was great, and perhaps we're not keen on the whole banana pudding thing, but I'm not sure I find black bananas appealing whatsoever. Tell me if I'm wrong, and I'll adjust my perception, but being greeted with a healthy chunk of black banana on top just wasn't appealing to us. Overall it was good enough to make a return visit and hoping our minor complaints were an anomaly.

The food is usually pretty good. The service is usually good. It is overpriced considering what you get.

My first impression was not great as we waited 10 minutes just to put our name on the list for a table. The staff member who had "the list" was also taking phone orders, getting to-go meals from the back, and taking people's payments. My husband was not happy that the phone orders took priority over the people in the restaurant. We watched people leave and watched the tables get cleared. We and another couple wondered why we were not being seated as there were tables available. The lady seating customers was busy checking out several parties and looking for to-go orders. Finally, after waiting 30 minutes (apparently we got there at the busiest time) we were seated. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. We both got the Wednesday special of fried chicken. I looked at mine and thought it looked overcooked, then I looked at my husband's and his was BURNT. I am very surprised they plated and sent out a piece of chicken that looked like his did. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of his. My corn muffin was hard but I was able to eat part of it. We waited for our ticket to go to the register to pay, but it never came. Finally, we just went to the register to pay. The waitress never came back to check if we needed refills (this is important to my husband as he always needs refills on his water). Definitely could have gotten a better fried chicken meal for a lesser price elsewhere. Will not go back.

We've eaten here enough times that it feels less like a restaurant visit and more like part of the tradition. Tonight I ordered the Blue Plate Special with hamburger steak smothered in grilled onions, collard greens, green beans, cornbread, and a big bowl of Brunswick stew. My unsweet tea stayed filled thanks to Rhonda, who was serving tables while also managing the restaurant. We learned that Hot Rod's started the evening with three servers scheduled. Business was slow, so one server was sent home. Naturally, that's when things picked up. Even so, Rhonda and the remaining server kept everything moving smoothly, and we never felt neglected during our visit. The Brunswick stew was excellent and gave us an unexpected opportunity for comparison. Earlier in the day we had Brunswick stew at Fresh Air Bar-B-Que. Hot Rod's version was chunkier, with larger pieces of meat, more noticeable vegetables, and a slight kick of spice. The Fresh Air version was smoother and more finely blended. Both were excellent, but they were definitely different styles. The hamburger steak was flavorful, the green beans and collard greens tasted like proper Southern vegetables, and when the Texas Pete hit the table there was only one thing to say: "My man, Texas Pete goes on the collards." Then came the surprise ending. We learned that peach cobbler was half price today. Unfortunately, they were out. Or so we thought. A fresh cobbler was still in the oven. For the next several minutes, the suspense reached maximum peach. Finally, the cobbler emerged from the kitchen and was served à la mode. The French gave it a classy name. The South perfected the application. Warm peaches, a buttery cobbler topping, and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream that immediately melted with a purpose made for the perfect ending to the meal. It was absolutely worth the wait. Hot Rod's continues to be one of our favorite stops in Social Circle, and after another great meal, I have no doubt we'll be back again the next time we're in town.
