The new Bolton is very nice. It's huge, with super high ceilings. It seems to have good options for food. The staff works hard to prepare and cook the food. My family loves to come here for brunch when we're in town for family weekend. There are of course much better options in Athens for breakfast/brunch, but nothing compares to the amount of food you can get here. The key is to come when they're service breakfast (a little more than $9 per person, if not on meal plan) and then stay all day. Bring your work or a book, or just a phone/iPad/tablet/laptop and watch a show (or a whole series!). Eat, then study, then they'll have already put out lunch by then, so you can also get lunch. Wait a little while longer, and you can get dinner too. The build-your-own omelet station is good. The waffles are good too. I recommend Bolton if you're going to camp out there for the day and get 3 meals out of it. read more

After attending UGA for 4 years, I can 100% say that I've seen Bolton evolve. When I started school the old Bolton was a thing (imagine it being an even smaller version of O-House with no coffee station, and yes the food was not the greatest). Needless to say, this is a major upgrade. We were so happy that we got an ECV-esque dining hall on the freshman / main side of campus, that also offered a greater variety of food. I'd say that while the students definelty know how to mess up something good (I'm looking at you pancake, pasta, and Omlette makers ‍), as long as you watch them as they make your food and you are firm with what you want, then you can get a pretty good meal out of Bolton. There's never any Pho. They brought it back for two days and now it's been 3+ weeks of "temporarily unavailable". The selection is minimal and lines are long, and that's just trying to get in. Nobody eats here because they want to; they only do because it's convenient. Save yourself the headache and just go up the street to O-House. read more

I'm Usually not critical about dining hall food, but I am going to be very critical about one thing in particular. I am a student here at UGA and I'm from Los Angeles, where I grew up eating predominantly vegetables and healthy foods....so I think I'm the best person to write this complaint. Why is it that Bolton Dining Commons only serves standard hummus once a week? Im the closest non-vegetarian thing you will find to a vegetarian, and the fact that I'm saying this says something. I don't want to see black bean hummus, blue cheese hummus or any hummus that isn't standard hummus. Anything but normal hummus tastes terrible and no one will eat it. 99 percent of people will agree. Back home I ate standard hummus every day by the spoonful, and i can assure you no one will eat goat cheese hummus or black bean hummus. Great variety of food, slightly above average quality. Great hangout spot for friends. There is Asian food, Italian food, Mexican food, a grill, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, and an egg station. Tons of desserts. Only problem is it's always packed with college students better stress eating their guts out over chem and midterms/finals. read more

This is my favorite steakhouse in town. Make sure to get a reservation because you won't get a table past 7 pm. The cocktail menu is just to die for. I personally recommend the watermelon margarita. As far as food goes, if you're going to splurge, this is the place to do it at. The steak is amazing. It's cooked at two different temperatures: burnt to a crisp, or bloody as hell. The real genius of this place is the mashed potatoes. They employ an advanced recipe that doesn't even use potatoes, only sour cream butter and salt. How awesome is that? For dessert, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The cookies are hard as rocks (yum). I ordered their brownies and chipped my tooth. You can't get this experience anywhere else in town! Their staff consists of only the finest waiters and chefs Athens has to offer. If you come here, be prepared to have the best meal of your life, and that I can guarantee. read more
