In all, we both added it up. I paid for it ($960). Within an hour or so, I returned to discuss buying more. Within minutes of arrival, I was told the total weight of the first order was calculated wrong and it would cost more ($530). When the company makes a mistake, own it. Don't ask the customer to pay for your mistake. I paid the difference because I'm honest. Interesting fact - you won't see the scale where the rock is weighed. I guess they expect you to believe they are honest. Avoid, avoid, avoid! I'm disappointed and sad to know this company is not as it was. We recently purchased black & brown 3" - 5" pieces, 5, 3' x 4' pieces of brown slate and three 'glass' 'chunks'. They were the only company that had what we were looking for. More important was the staff was very friendly and helpful. The gave us the latitude to pick through the larger slate pies to ensure we got what we wanted. They have a good range of products but I've found a better place to go from now on. What they really lack is someone who will walk out of the office and discuss rocks with customers. They pissed off the landscapers i hired by wanting more money then agreed upon. I still went there but now I'm done. The blonde lady at the front desk just doesnt know anything about rocks! She got confused then triggered then angry by my questions. We visited their location and saw 3 or 4 we liked and they allowed us to bring a sample home to see. We ended up with rock bark. Our yard turned out amazing. They wanted more money for reasons that did not call for an extra $100. The driver was aggressive, and the office manager was rude, yelling and not allowing me to explain a situation when I was not home when they delivered some rocks. Still, my handyman crew was there; they hung up in my face, threatened to call HOA, and called me an animal, yelling and refusing to allow me to explain. Threatening if I didn't pay the extra $100, they would come and pick up my rocks, which I already paid for weeks be fore the delivery date. I had $500 upfront for delivery. Once they got there, they wanted an extra $100 because they had to drive up a dirt road to dump the rocks. After numerous follow up calls for a status and no call back I was told "We really aren't selling to individuals right now" I said maybe I should take my business elsewhere and the response was "ok" and she hung up. I get it there is a pandemic and all so extra precautions and all that but this was just rude and unacceptable for a customer facing business. UPDATE..... After hearing about my unfortunate service experience the local office person called and was very apologetic and talked to the owner to let them know about the incident. She then had me call a phone number to place the order and pay for the rock. Unfortunately I did not get her name either but again, she was so pleasant to deal with. Friendly and fast service. Same day delivery over the weekend. I picked up a few yards of their soil blend with lava rock because I needed a well draining soil that also wasn't just full of wood chips. It's a nice and heavy, porous soil that would hold up well in hot summers here. Definitely will use them again for future projects. read more

What an disappointment experience. We bought 6.5 cubic yard of lava rocks and it came with so much dirt that we were able to scrape up 2 buckets of dirt from them (around 4 cubic feet) and this doesn't include dirt that washed away. Look at the pictures I attached. I've purchased rocks from other stone yards before and never had I seen this much dirt mixed in with the rocks. I suspect they were scrapping the bin to fulfill our order since we bought all they rocks they had left in the bin and that's how they got so much dirt with our delivery. We spent countless hours washing the rocks and scraping up the dirt from our driveway. I complained to the owner on the phone and texts and they brushed it off by saying that we were advised of the dirt at the point of sale and that it's out of their control. Hey, I expect some dirt to come with the rocks because it's from outside and from the earth. But it is unreasonable to have that much dirt to be mixed in with the rocks. That's low quality product. Again, I've never had this issue from other stone yards. I paid for rocks, not dirt! I'll not be buying from them again. read more

We have been going to The Rock Source for a couple of years. They started on the corner of Peabody and Cement Hill and have since moved to Fry Road. We absolutely love this place. We started with a few rocks for the yard, and have since graduated to Sierra Silver Path Fines (picture #33 on their Facebook Page). We are using it all around our house and it is amazing. It hardens up nicely and is able to take heavy loads. Not to mention it is BEAUTIFUL!! We tried to get some, but they had run out. They were unsure of when it might come in as it is made from big rocks that are ground, and ground again, and again, and again until it is FINE shape. Not to mention all the rain kept the source (where ever it is) out of business due to all the mud. We were disappointed to say the least. Unbelievably, they called the next day and said they had gone and picked some up the product and when did we want it delivered? Wow!! Talk about great customer service. We were not placed expecting it for a couple of weeks. They have opened a "Country Store" that has all kinds of neat stuff. I need to keep my wife away from it as it will cost even more. But, I am just as bad, so I need to stay away from it as well. That didn't work as well as expected. Cool things for sure. Finally, Lori (not sure of the spelling), Celeste and Linda (I think) are the best in customer service. They took care of us and as noted, went above and beyond to get our product. The gentleman that delivered the fines was as friendly as could be. He made sure the fines were placed where we wanted and away from city sidewalks etc. And of course, Rugger! He is da bomb. We have lived in this area for 20 plus years. Over the years we have completed many DIY yard remodels requiring stone, bark and many other materials. We used the local companies and to be quite honest we had to go there because it was close and we needed the stone or whatever it was we were getting, so we put up with poor customer service, lack of choice and pricey items. However we no longer have to do that. Over the last few months we have called Rock Source a few times and every time we are greeted with an extremely friendly and helpful person on the other end of the phone. Now we have in person visited the rock source and yep the service we received on the phone was even better in person. Staff are extremely friendly and the prices are on point. The selection is the best we have seen, this is our place for rocks / bark. I saw the bad reviews but I know yelp well and I always look at the majority to get an overall opinion and I am glad because staff were extremely helpful and very customer service orientated. This is the absolute most unprofessional business I've ever experienced. The product is terrible quality. You pay for dirt, not quality product. If you buy stepping stones don't expect to actually use them as stepping stones. The stepping stones crumble apart if u barely touch them. Also I overheard the owner speaking to a younger employee terribly. It made me feel embarrassed and bad for the employee. He was mimicking him and putting him down. I don't think he realized there were customers that could hear him and experience his true colors. I have been working here for years and every once in a while you get that one customer you have to tell to leave because of their aggressive behavior. Dennis Basford was that customer he was rude, calculated his concrete by the cubic inch and was off by a wheelbarrow which is quite common when you don't know what your doing. He was cursing and making a fuss in front of customers so he was asked to leave. He got mad and burned rubber out of the parking lot nearly hitting a customer. We had to file a police report against him and told him never come back. This man is a compulsive liar and should be ashamed of himself for his poor conduct. Im glad I knew his last name so I could warn any of his possible customers to steer clear of this guy, so that you aren't suckered into letting him do a second rate job at a first rate price. We value all of our customers and try to provide everyone with the top notch service they deserve. We are sorry if Dennis' lies detoured you from stopping in but I promise you if you give us the chance you will be very satisfied with our professionalism, ours knowledge, and our friendly service. read more

If I could give a negative star rating, I would. These guys shorted me on a load of concrete. I explained to them that the tape measure does not lie. I was not shorted a small amount and it ruined my pour. When I discussed this with the staff, I was informed that in all of thier 30 years in business they have NEVER shorted a load of concrete and that I was the only one to ever complain about being shorted. And that they do not make mistakes. Imagine paying for 10 gallons of gas but only being dispensed 7 gallons at the pump. That is exactly what happened to me. I offered to let them come and measure my forms themselves and showed them multiple photos documenting my dimensions and thier obvious error. I was then told that I should buy concrete at All Star rentals, which I did. Guess what? I got exactly what I paid for from them. They told me that they get frustrated customers "all the time" from customers that the Rock Source has shorted. I was also accused of not paying my bill on time with them. That is an outrageous lie. I always pay what I owe at the time of purchase and have never had a line of credit from them. Talk about a frustrating day. The good news is that I have discovered that All Star is the place to go and that's where my business will go from now on. read more

I had a contractor pick up, what was supposed to be 1 cubic yard of concrete, but when we poured it, we were short just under 1/3 of a cube. This meant another day set aside to complete the job; a dry seam 2/3 of the slab. (this could have been avoided if we could have gone to fetch more but we were told they do not supply after 2.30pm. Their website says 'open 7 days a week - 7am-5pm!!!!! Upon return of the mixer rental, and after some 'arguing' it was agreed rock source would provide the balance for free. We went back 48 hours later and all of a sudden their story changed and now they wanted to charge for the balance. They accused my contractor of lying and after he was verbally abused they told him to go buy concrete elsewhere. Absolutely zero customer service, no apology, no offer to assist, nothing except bad manners and no customer service. read more

Just had some pea gravel delivered and the driver was awesome. It was a tight spot the gravel needed to be put in and rather than just dump the gravel on the road, he took into consideration surrounding trees and wires and carefully made it happen!
