kurapia sod with oxalis popping through 1 month after installation.
    Hilla R.

George gave us a quote in August for a 700 sq. ft. lawn installation. Work was supposed to be done right before Thanksgiving and take three days. Job was stretched out to three weeks. I informed George that the yard had really bad weeds primarily of oxalis and that we didn't want to use Round-up because of the fruit trees already planted and because we have a puppy. He reassured me that everything would be great and it would look beautiful. However, no alternative method was offered and 10 days after the installation I began picking out weeds from the lawn. I contacted George two weeks after installation to let him know that the weeds were really bad and could he do something about it. He again reassured me that he was going to contact the sod company he purchased from and wasn't "abandoning the job". Three weeks after that conversation, he finally came out to take a look at the lawn and do some weeding. His idea of weeding was cutting some of the oxalis off at the surface. He also kept referring to the oxalis as clover, not the same thing at all. For anyone who knows oxalis, it has a long taproot and a bulb at the end of it. Cutting it off at the surface does little to nothing in stopping it from returning. Someone in the lawn business should know his weeds, or at least do some research when a client tells him what types of weeds are in the yard. Things George did well: Excellent job grading the yard and nice work installing steel barriers to define garden bed areas. Things George did poorly: Did not communicate well or educate client on alternatives to toxic herbicides. He also did nothing differently from normal installation other than not spray Round-up. As a result, an extremely expensive sod, kurapia is now covered in weeds.

I am extremely satisfied with our sod purchase from Sod and Seed. I originally asked for an estimate on their website and promptly received a quote. Next I called and set up a pick up time within just a few days. I was able to install the sod myself with the help of my dad. The sod is of great quality!

Ordered sod from George. He was extremely thorough and explained all the options to us ahead of time. We wanted to install ourselves, so George gave us an excellent overview so we could ensure the best install possible! Amazing customer service!! We HIGHLY recommend! Best prices around!!

I can't believe how great our backyard looks! I posted a bunch of before and after photos. George and Stacey and their crew were some of the nicest people we've done business with. Every time I spoke with George on site he was happy, had a positive attitude, and seemed genuinely excited about our project. I know these guys are crazy busy (which may explain some of the reviews saying they never got back to them). But they work at least 6 days a week and very long hours. Just as an example of how long their days are they started at 6:15am (and we're about an hour away from their headquarters) on the final day of install. Our project was a pretty big project (approx 3000 sq feet) and took 2 weeks to complete. Our yard was a disaster. It required something like 35 tons of dirt to be brought in to level it out. We needed the entire area cleaned out (it was crab grass and weeds), dirt fill brought in, irrigation system installed, huge raised redwood planter built and filled with like 10 tons of dirt, and then sod installed - we chose bluegrass. I'm probably missing some details here, too. We spent a good amount of money on this project but we couldn't be happier. Landscaping is expensive as it is very labor intensive but these guys earned it. With Sod & Seed if you look at the details of their quote their labor is very reasonably priced considering how much time they spend at your property. If they quote your job please take the time to look at material cost vs. labor. As of today (7/29/17) George came back to do the final clean up and mentioned to me that they were booked up for the next few months. This is normal. We tried to get someone in for a patio install and someone else for a deck install (in addition to what Sod & Seed did) and I can't find a company that isn't booked out until 2018. So, be patient. The quality of work Sod & Seed provides is worth the wait! Don't let your random Mow & Blow gardener do this install for you, you will regret it. OH, and also you can pay by credit card (gotta get those points/cash back!). Most other places I spoke to only accepted checks as payment.

Our backyard was a dirt and mud pit since we purchased our home. We have dreamed of a beautiful grass backyard for the longest time, but it seemed like such a daunting process. George and his crew were amazing. They responded quickly to our request. Walked us thru the process and their recommendations. The instillation was efficient and superb! They even went above and beyond and helped install some of the excess sod in our chicken zone. I really admired their attention to detail and care. Thanks to them we actually enjoy spending time in our yard now and can't wait to finally let the dog have some grass to roll in. Highly recommend them to anyone!

    Back yard done

Got sod to lay in my back yard. I went into the store once and then ended up ordering it over the phone. Everyone was super helpful and explained everything I needed to know! I ordered on a Tuesday and got the sod delivered on a Saturday even with the thanksgiving holiday! I highly recommend sod and seed to anyone looking to get sod for any project.

Two days after install, grass already looking great. 50% Bluegrass Blend/50% Premium Ryegrass Blend.

I contacted them and was told they didn't have a replacement at the time but would send me a replacement when the did. Almost a year later, I recontacted them and was told they would send the replacement. They did and it arrived and is doing well. I purchased two other live plants through their website and they arrived in really poor codition. Shipped in a small box with the plants in small styrofoam cups, they were nearly dead out of the box and looked like heat or something got to them. I replanted them immediately, gave them a drink and put them in a partially sunny spot hoping they'd pull through. I contacted Clayton Farm and sent pictures of the beat up plants . They said they looked like they were making a rebound and to stay with the care. A day and half later they were shriveled and gone..dead. Cost me almost 40 bucks for 2 small, live plants that arrived beat up and died in a day and a half. I am a pretty good home gardener but couldn't save the plants. Having received 5 plants total from Clayton and only 2 survived a day after arriving, I won't purchase through their mail order again. Never been to the place to buy plants in person and cannot attest to the conditions there, but I would avoid buying through the mail, My experience is only 40% success rate and no refund after contact.

This review has been a long time coming!…read more So incredibly stoked on my pixie cut! Randomly saw a girl in a Safeway parking lot with the cutest pixie cut ever-- I had one already, but it had been growing out. I have, I repeat, I have never approached a stranger on where they've gotten their haircut before but I had such a visceral reaction to how well done her hair was-- that I had to ask her. She told me she'd gotten it done at Fringe and Fern Collective, a salon I hadn't heard of until right that moment, I was beyond thrilled. I called Fringe and Fern immediately and asked after the person who had just done a pixie cut that afternoon and BOOM-- made an appointment with Kyle for the following week! I've kept my hair short now for the past couple of years due to thinning hair especially on the sides. Most hair stylists I've been to have either cut my hair way too short on the sides which always ends up showing too much of my scalp and how painfully thin it is or kept it much longer than I prefer. Kyle will take his time figuring out exactly what I want and manages to keep my hair looking fuller on the sides while achieving the shortness I wanted all around. A hair stylist with that kind of attention to detail has been so hard to find. My hair always grows out really nice in between haircuts as well, which is great. I tend to go 4-6 weeks between cuts. I'm also super awkward at small talk, but Kyle has a way to make you feel at ease which is so important when you're in introvert. lol Fringe and Fern Collective is located on South Main and Newell Ave, next to George's Giant Hamburger and Pacific Bay Coffee and right across from Kaiser. Parking can be a little tricky as the shopping center is in a narrow corner lot, so recommend leaving a few minutes earlier before your appt to snag a parking spot. Anyhow, if you're looking for the perfect pixie cut, look no further, Kyle is the way to go!
