This was my first time at Dixon Landscape Materials. I was looking for some small rocks to fill in a side yard strip next to my sidewalk. I walked in and was greeted with a smile and a hello.Being a girl that feels uncomfortable walking into a commercial construction type of an environment, the gentleman directed me to the selection of rocks, different colors, different sizes different prices he told me to come back in if there's anything I liked. I went back in and told him I didn't need much and he said there is a minimum so I purchased the minimum very reasonably priced. I didn't feel like I was getting gouged. I pulled up my truck and another gentleman loaded up his front loader with my rock selection and poured it in the bed of my truck. It was fast. It was easy. I made it home by 4:30 before sundown. I was able to complete my job here at my house thank you, Dixon Landscape. I highly recommend this place very clean and organized as well. read more

We wanted soil for raised planter beds and ordered 6 yds. Our garden growth was less than expected and I had lab soil analysis done. Results showed zero organic content and lots of inorganic material (wife finds bits of glass and plastic) . Lab suggested it not be used to grow food and suggested letting water pass through to remove undesirable components. . Soil is VERY good at inhibiting growth of any plants, even weeds. I have no idea about their other products but would not recommend purchasing any soil products. read more

While Dixon landscape materials has a nice stock of materials they are limited in delivery ways. We just needed a few bags of rocks to finish a landscape project but they don't sell by the bag. We went to Brentwood and had great results. A few weeks later we returned to buy some brownish flagstone type flat rock and they were very helpful. read more

Got two of the mixer trailers for concrete. Both shorted. Supposed to be a yard of concrete each, ended up with 3/4 of a yard each. Disappointing when you do the calculations and should have extra but end up with not enough. If that's the way they do business, they lost ours. read more

It's great to have a local source for rock and mulch. I bought some flagstone for what I thought was a reasonable price. I also needed some shredded wood/bark to add to what our landscaper had supplied. I found the same material during a visit to their yard, but the price, at $52 per yard, seemed high to me. (I needed 5-7 yards.) In the coming week we visited several other suppliers of mulch. We found what was essentially the same much--cedar--in downtown Davis for $34 per yard. For a full truck--5 yards--they would waive their delivery fee to Dixon. Now I was sure I had been misquoted, so I returned to Dixon Landscape Materials. When I asked about the shredded mulch, I mentioned that I had found shredded cedar mulch for significantly less than $52 per yard that they had quoted a week before. The counter guy didn't miss a beat. "Our mulch is shredded FIR; we don't handle cedar mulch", implying that cedar is a lower quality product. I knew better. In addition to my own knowledge of the benefits of redwood and cedar mulch, UC Davis says that cedar (and redwood) mulch decomposes more slowly than other types of mulch, so it lasts longer. Long life is important to me, so for my money, the fir mulch sold here is an inferior product offered for a premium price. When I ordered the cedar mulch from Davis, it turned out that it was actually on sale for 10% less than I had been quoted before. Sold! And it was delivered the same day. read more

I've searched all over the Sacramento area for Black Mexican Pebbles and this is the only place that carries it. They have a good choice different sizes. For the 1-2" black Pebbles, they are already packaged in 50 pound bags. There are also different rocks to choose from; boulders, flagstone, pavers, and stone veneer. They carry all types of ground cover from mulch to gorilla grass, blacks, browns, as well as decomposed granite. I brought in a drawing of my project, and had no clue how much material to get. Raj (I'm sorry if I got that wrong) looked at my drawing and was able to calculate exactly what I needed. They delivered ahead of schedule and I was able to complete this portion of my project in one day. 3200 pounds later and hella sweaty, I got 'er done. read more

Rude and Arrogant. The "Owner" who wouldn't let me speak with anyone else, was the only person I could reach. But basically said they were closing so they didn't want my business. Rude and every corner and basically told me not to come back because he didn't feel like doing his job. Very sad because we always try and stay local, seeing how Dixon is a small town. But DON'T EVER GO HERE and deal with this guy. Go anywhere else. They shouldn't be allowed to treat anyone the way we were treated. Sad excuse for customer service. read more

I have purchased readimix cement on many occasions here but not anymore. The owner has new mixing trailers and is obviously not being consistent with how customers clean them. I live in the country so for me it is easy to clean them well. But cleaning prior customers splatters requires more effort & muriatic acid than I am willing to put in. He tried to hold my wife (who returned the trailer) responsible for cleaning and she/we were not having it. He lost our business and we will return to the Vacaville readimix for future business. read more

The cashier assigned today was unprofessional and disrespectful. I asked him about a material I was looking for and he told me to get a specific material that was supposedly the one I was looking for. After I provided the material to the person that was going to help me out with the work, he indicated the material was not the one we needed. No big deal, I went back to return the material the cashier had advised. I told him that the material unfortunately was not for the purpose I had previously requested so I would need to get either the right material or my money back. He stated that this material even though it was not the purpose I had requested was what some people use for the purpose I wanted it. I told him that I wanted the specific material for the specific purpose I needed it. He didn't have the material and he was refusing to give me my money back. This made me realize that from the beginning he knew he didn't have the material and wanted to cheat giving me the wrong material. Since he did admitted that the material he gave me was not the one I had previously requested. On top of that he acted rude and mad, as if it was my fault that he gave me the wrong material. Even worse he sold me the material very well knowingly that he was selling me a material that was for a total different purpose. After I told him that all if this was his fault and he realized that he couldn't bullied me he decided to return the money but still did so with a rude attitude. It's unfortunate that he acted this way because I like that place but I'll rather driver farther if that means not having to deal with him, a dishonest person. Thank you! read more

They delivered 19 cubic yards of quality bark for about 15% less than places I got estimates from in contra costa and alameda counties, and offered free delivery. Great place! I was there yesterday and bought some moss rocks (Really boulders as they were BIG!) and some stepping stones. Owner was very helpful and him and his helper actually loaded my truck for me! Prices are very competitive and a huge plus is everything is price marked which makes deciding between materials easy since you dont have to go to the office to compare prices (I see this at very few places like this which makes shopping other places a pita). The place is organized and orderly (tough to do if you have a business lke this) and you can tell they really take care of the place. Literally at the last minute my husband got someone to help him with the backyard. So, he asked me to go buy some pebbles to go between our stepping stones that we were doing between in our garden. He asked me to have them delivered today and I almost laughed in his face. Like who would do a same day delivery?!? Well at 10am, I stopped by Dixon Landscape Materials and found a salt and pepper blend I liked. I let the gentleman know how much I needed and was brave enough to ask if it could be delivered today. He said, "Sure, the truck will be back in an hour and we should have it there by this afternoon". I was really surprised. I felt I bought on impulse to I called two other places and price checked and felt even better... the price I bought it for was about 5-15 dollars less per yard.
