After a few years of trying to figure out what to do with my front yard I finally made the choice of using river rock. Although I love grass, sustaining it with a south facing home in Fairfield's summer heat was an ongoing nightmare. I was looking for low to no maintenance. After checking out Yelp and other online reviews I decided to check this place out. Their stone yard has quite a few varieties of garden needs, mulch, variety of decorative rocks, bricks, pavers and other miscellaneous garden and home needs. After getting a quote, I wanted to order the material but have it delivered at a few weeks time. They suggested to call and order closer to when delivery is ready as they're constantly replenishing supply. So after clearing and working the yard with my Dad, laying down the landscape fabric, I called their front desk to make sure they had the material and headed over to the store. There was a slight change with the rock I chose, I changed to their Lodi salt and pepper since it had more colorful rock variety that matched one of my older river rock projects for my side yard. As usual, they were very friendly and because of my location and the amount I ordered, the delivery was free. I was also able to get the rock that same day. I wish I had known about this place first before ordering from one of the larger commercial stores. I paid 1/3 the amount in comparison. read more

With the Covid shutdown and the stimulus check, I decided why not add some curb appeal to my house. I went to Stoneyard and selected river rocks. I had no idea the cost! Let's just say I'm glad it's a one time expense because it ain't cheap! . The guy behind the counter was very nice and knowledgeable. The outcome is fabulous!! One thing to keep in mind...the lacquer is needed to restore the stone to its natural color and beauty. I didn't give 5 stars because I had 3 deliveries (underestimated the cubic yards) and they charged me for deliveries every time. Grateful there won't be a next time . I bought a 50lb of Gator Dust today, 6/22/22. The guy in a blue shirt loaded it in my car. Before leaving, I checked if it was a 50lb bag and noticed sand on the floor of my trunk. I turned it over and there was a hole on the bag. I went inside to ask for a replacement and the guys reply was "why? For a small hole?" I said "what do you mean?" He then said "you complain too much. It's just a small hole". He obviously knew about the small hole, because he never checked. I waited a while, then went back in to tell him to replace it. Needed stepping stones and landscape grade bend a board. Went to 2 other local stone yards in Fairfield/Vacaville area. Stoneyard Masonry not only had the lowest prices, but the largest selection and best customer service. We were lucky enough to get Eduardo who moved pallet after pallet to help us pick out the stones we wanted. He picked through stones, weighed, loaded and taped up our board. Here's my disclaimer before you read my review I am going to give you my personal take on my experience everyone else has theirs everyone goes through ups and downs in life that can draw into the reason they review and sometimes the person working at the counter or at the facility they just have one of those days but I want to tell you that you were going to get a true transparent review We've been wanting to do a DIY project at the house and we decided to install turf after watching multiple videos for about three months and looking at how much budget will need and how much time it will take and what I need and what I don't need I finally decided to pull the trigger so I needed to set up the foundation and the base rock. I got the base layer rock and dust for the foundation of my turf project the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and understanding what I need for my project and said if you have any questions just let us know your delivery is free because you were in town however I would check if it depends also on how much you are ordering but definitely you want to go to this place they have some good prices and various rocks from big and small and pavers you can purchase from them lots of tools as well that you can buy and or ask questions about it before you buy them they also have material you may need for your project so definitely take a look inside the store I Recommend this place. Service is really good, they know their craft especially whoever sits at the counter. However, don't ever buy grass from them. They are knowledgeable but they are not the grass grower, they are simply a store where they can get you grass from a supplier. The grass that I paid a lot of money for died within a week despite of wasting a lot of water watering them. I purchased 2 pallets and some of them are already dried. I complained but they simply gave me the number to call. But like other 3rd party supplier, they are negative when it comes to complaint, I can already feel that they will not help you or give you the run around. I hired a company to prep my dirt before I put the grass down. The dirt was ready more than week ago before the grass arrived. And not one weed grew. When I got the grass Not only some of them are dried, but after a week, it sprung a lot of weeds. And only patches would only grow green and the rest are brown...dry or dead. Its funny that most of my neighbor got their grass from home depot and here I am didn't want to buy grass from home depot. Its been 2 years and I'm struggling to keep my grass green. Oh yeah!!! They told me that this is low maintenance and can survived summer....RIGHT!!!! read more

I went to this place on the recommendation of the contractor building a small retaining wall in my front yard. I was looking to match some stone already on the pillars of my home. He had a sample that looked similar. I waited in line to ask him if he would allow me to take it to my home. I offered to leave a deposit. He said I could take it if I had a screwdriver. I did not have one and lived 40 minutes away. I asked him to borrow a screwdriver and he said no. He was not friendly and always appeared to be gruff and angry. I went home without the sample. I went to Crown Hill in Napa and they bent over backwards to help me, but could not find a color that matched. We also looked at Brickyard in Concord. I had to go back to Stoneyard because it was the only place we found the colors and Company that sold it that matched our home. I showed him the notes from contractor stating the wall was going to be 42 feet by 1 ft tall. He started doing calculations for how much I needed but he had to keep stopping to answer phone and talk to people. When he was done he told me I would need 5 boxes. I told him that seemed like a lot in light of how small wall was. He adjusted again and took one box off. I paid for the order and left. He called me later that day and said I needed two boxes of corners and he only charged me for one. So I paid for another box. A little over two weeks later I received a call the stone was in. I let my contractor know so he could pick it up. When he delivered it to house I was not there but when I got home I was supposed to have 3 boxes of flats in tan colors and 1 box of gray. I paid for four boxes. There were only three. After a week of going back and forth with contractor I called the place myself. He said the box was sitting there. The contractor went to pick it up and started the job again. When he was done there was one full box of unopened corners and one full box of flats. I had been right. His calculations were way off. In addition, he had not ordered enough 12x24 caps. My adult son went with me to return the unopened boxes because the previous conversations had not been very nice. As expected right off the bat he got mad and said he wasn't taking them back. I showed him the measurements I had showed him initially. I said there is one box mostly full left and that he had over calculated by way too much and I wanted a refund. He got even more upset. I told him this was not my mistake and he was the one that calculated what was needed and ordered it. He finally stated in a nasty way that was fine he would take boxes back and refund my money but he would not order the 5 wall caps still needed. I said that that didn't seem fair since he was given the length of the wall and did not order enough. He should make it right. His response was you are not happy so I am not going to order it. His answer to making a mistake that cost me 276.03 extra and now delaying completion of wall by six weeks was to refuse to correct his mistake or make it right. I ended up going to Vacaville Brickyard and the man that helped me was very nice. We put in a special order, I had to pay extra pallet fee since I was just ordering 5 and it will take 6 more weeks of waiting. The man at Brickyard made a mistake on the calculations too and when I pointed out, he was gracious and said my mistake let me fix it. He was very nice and very helpful. I will never do business with Stoneyard Masonry again. I understand that grumpy guy is the owner manager. I recommend going somewhere else if your contractor suggests Stoneyard Masonry. The people at Crownhill in Napa and at Brickyard in Vacaville were pleasant, customer oriented and very helpful. The experience at Stoneyard Masonry was unpleasant, disrespectful and I will never give them business again. Life is too short to deal with that kind of frustration and it took a lot of extra time and energy I didn't have. read more

I've never really imagined myself buying $600 in rocks. I had no idea what I was doing or what I needed but these guys made it simple. I came in and asked a bunch of questions and they were able to help me out. They offered me a couple bags to take samples home. The next day I came back and ordered the rocks. I went to this store to buy rock and weed barrier for my garden - I placed the barrier last winter even overlapping it to make sure no weeds came through as this is where I grow my fruit trees and vegetables. I put together my garden last summer. This winter I went out to my garden to start prepping for spring and the garden is inundated with weeds and grass - I called and spoke to the owner who informed me that I should have used ROUNDUP on the ground 1st before laying down the weed barrier "hmmmm" round up in my garden - why would I spend $600 on weed barrier for my garden if I have to put a product like that on the grass or weeds 1st - I am highly disappointed and feel like anyone purchasing this product SRW products from him should think twice - for that price just go to home depot - sorry Stoneyard but your excuse is NOT acceptable, and I am NOT placing that horrific chemical in my garden read more
