I wanted to send my very close friend and client a special flower arrangement for a big birthday. I wanted something that was unique and not $750, and Ampersand definitely delivered. The arrangement was incredibly unique and artistic and my friend sent another photo this morning, showing that the flowers still look fresh on day 4, and telling me how much she loves this arrangement. Thank you Ampersand, for making the buying experience super easy, and creating a unique arrangement for this picky interior designer (me!) to give my friend! read more

I knew I wanted Emerson to do my wedding florals the moment I saw his work at my venue -- his style is modern, bold, elegant, and just the right amount of playful. From our very first call, he completely got my vision. He quickly pulled together a stunning mood board, detailed proposal, and pricing breakdown that felt so thoughtful and intentional. When I wanted to tweak colors and quantities later on, he was so easy to work with -- responsive, flexible, and creative with solutions. The final florals were beyond what I had imagined: lush, artful, and totally unforgettable. Emerson has that rare mix of artistry and professionalism that makes the whole process feel effortless. Truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! read more

Randomly stumbled upon this shop while on my rare day off work and it made my day. The lady ("Nela"-sry if I spelled it wrong) working there was so friendly and attentive to my request, despite me only asking for a tiny custom bouquet. In the end this beautiful bundle only costed me under $15, and will bring vibrant energy to my unit for a whole week. Will definitely return when I visit the Mission again! read more

Given the many good reviews, I was shocked when I received a birthday gift delivery today. It was an unattractive bouquet with many flowers that were not fresh, that fell apart when I put them in a vase and had to be tossed. Many of the flowers were very uninteresting and the overall design was the least impressive of any flowers I have ever received. It was delivered by uber. I got a text to meet the driver at the door. He didnt' come to the door. He sat in his car in the street and I tried repeatedly to get his attention. He ignored me until I went up to his window. This uber conduct is not the fault of the florist, which courteously rescheduled delivery for a time I would be home, but it added to the disappointment fo the whole process, read more

A favorite flower shop among my friends and me. We love the modern arrangements and quality flowers. These aren't your previous generation flower bunch. They're next level when it comes to assortment and arrangement. You can respect this as...ART! You can order online and chat via text with them for customer service. Totally modern. Pick your level of desired spend at 3 different price points. The minimum is $55 and for this city, $55 at ampersand gets you a gorgeous bouquet. Emerson and team did my wedding flowers and I can't sing their praises enough. I wanted funky, unique, but also beautiful? and somehow, with that, they created the most stunning and chic designs. not only are they artists, but they are kind & really easy to work with. they just get "it" :) I'm very picky when it comes to flowers and I really can't think of a better floral designer in this city read more

Discovered Ampersand through a Reddit recommendation for a bouquet delivery to congratulate my friend. We used Emerson for a high-profile influencer event and she and her team did a FANTASTIC job! Drove out to SF for this spot because someone had recommended it. The door was unlocked and they had a sign saying back at 12 but it was 1:20pm, walked in and the lady said they were closed a few moments after we had already stepped inside as if she just didn't like our energy. Didn't say when she would be back or anything. Their posted hours are 11-6pm and had no sign outfront that mentioned they would not be open. Very unprofessional lock your door if you don't want customers or fix your sign! read more

The Ampersand team is the best, bar none. Not just a go-to for day to day arrangements, they did floral for our wedding celebrations and knocked it out of the park. Over the past few years I have shopped with Ampersand several times and am always left happy and with a little bit more faith in humanity. So I give you a multi part review: Wedding Florals- Ampersand did the flowers for my wedding in Lake Tahoe and I was blown away! People tried to tell me before my wedding that "you won't remember the flowers or the blah blah" well they are liars. I think about my flowers ALL THE TIME. I HAVE PRINTED WEDDING PHOTOS OF THE FLOWRS ALONE. The flowers were incredible, the men who own Ampersand are literally flower wizards. They took my incredibly obscure request to create a design that felt like modern Mexican design meets alpines and crushed it. All of my guests were amazed at the installations they created and took so many pictures with them and just of the flowers alone. I actually had guests taking pictures of Ampersand setting up and showing them to me because they were so impressed with their artistic approach. I got married at a hotel which are notoriously particular about anything being installed and require pristine clean ups. Two of the big floral moments were in the hotels lobby hanging from their ceilings. Ampersand worked perfectly with our hotel, being extremely mindful of not doing anything that might damage the hotels property. The hotel loved their work so much they requested to keep up the indoor installations and said they would remove them themselves once they died. Everything they did was so thoughtful from delivery of my bouquet to the petals of a rose on a cocktail table being 'just so'. Beyond the wedding day Ampersand was incredibly easy to work with, very open to ideas and communicated clearly along the way. We've already decided that we will have a 10 year anniversary party and we will be hiring Ampersand again. Flower Shop - Previous to my wedding experience I had visited the Ampersand flower shop several times, which is such a welcoming and delightful space. The employees have always been eager to help and you can tell they truly love what they do. Delivery - My husband has also ordered flowers from them for my birthday and they literally were my favorite flowers I've ever received. I continually remind him of this in hopes he will be inspired to order me more flowers... Even the delivery packaging was cute I almost didn't want to unwrap them to put them into water. Also very cute for photos. Like way way better then any cellophane wrapped roses you'd get somewhere else. Bonus: I don't think ig account reviews are a thing but they should be. 10/10 recommend following @Ampersand_SF on Instagram. Every post captures a little bit of lightness that we all need more of. read more

How they are getting 4.5 stars is really beyond my understanding. Also, they spelled the recipients name wrong even though I spelled it out for them over the phone. How do you mess up the name Mercedes and spell it Murcedes. Called in to get flowers for a friend who just came back to life from a stroke with half her body still paralyzed just yesterday. Church Street Flowers, my all time go to for everything from family/friends to clients to staff appreciation, was closed for the day today. My search online brought me here. Yelp ratings are either overrated or they just do a shit job with their platform. I requested for a bouquet about 70 dollars worth. Instructions were bright colors and something that represents life considering someone is laying in the hospital back from death. I normally would pick out flowers myself but I'm not in town today. Scary letting someone pick it especially when it's someone who put together the flowers today. Once my friends received the flowers they messaged me "thanks for the flowers but they are dead." I don't know if you can imagine the look on my face seeing a text like that coming from a family at the hospital where their family member is still laying there fighting to fully come back. Who the fuck would put together flowers that look like they are wilting and falling apart to be a sent to someone in this scenario. What can be worse than that though... Well, called them and Rachel picked up. Told her the scenario. Instead of taking control of the situation and owning up to it, she goes to explain why it might normally look like that. She says, "Our flowers are normally muted colors and have a vintage look so some browning of the flowers are normal." I specifically told you to prepare something that celebrates life, not death. She then says she need to figure out what they would do with it after she speaks with the owners and for me to go online to email them the pictures. I asked if I can just text it since I'm already on the phone and she says just go online and do it and send it via email. My staff at my 4 different firms would've just owned up to it and do something for the client. This is just a poorly ran business and clearly the owners and staff don't care very much about it. Not only did not do anything, they also told me no refunds. Good luck with these guys if you're being fooled by the stars. If you read through all of this then go to Church Street Flowers. Never fails and amazing staff with a good eye and great integrity behind their work from what I've seen the past 6 years working with them multiple times a year. read more

Do not support this unethical business who heartlessly stole our deposit by insisting we get married on a Wednesday. As a long time supporter of Ampersand in SF following them from their original location on Albion St and purchasing from them multiple times for friend's events, there was no question we wanted to work with them for our wedding. They are no doubt talented procuring gorgeous florals for many events as evidenced in their wide portfolio of work. It hurts my heart to say that signing a contract with them ended up being the biggest financial mistake and I hope to share this story to warn others from working with them for their big day. We were forced to move our wedding three times (this was no small decision) due to factors completely out of our control: Twice due to legal COVID gathering restrictions and not letting international visits and once due to our venue at Calistoga Ranch burning to the ground in the Glass Fire. We understood that the business had lost some revenue by holding a date for us and even offered to pay additional change fee and signing an addendum that we cannot change again without severe financial penalties. We also agreed to pay for their new 2023 rates which was absolutely reasonable to account for increasing costs on their end. However, Ampersand instead insisted that rescheduling to a weekend date was unacceptable and the only option would be to move the wedding to a Wednesday knowing full well our guests would all have to take vacation to attend, effectively stealing our $3,000 deposit with them. Who gets married on a Wednesday? We can now barely afford our wedding having to pay for two florists. I am beyond disappointed in Ben & Emerson who feel they have somehow "gone above and beyond" and hope that they reconsider their deceitful business practices. read more

Ampersand has been my go-to flower shop since a friend recommended it a few years ago. Lucky for me, it's also my partner's go-to shop. I ordered these without knowing anything about Ampersand except for the reviews that I had read and looking at the photos on their website. ( I live in a city in the Midwest.) The design had a really custom, one-of-a-kind feel. Not generic at all. I do know very little about San Francisco florist prices, but the information that I saw on the other websites I reviewed had extremely high prices compared to Ampersand. Ampersand - Ampersand flowers - creative, original. Real "custom design" feel. Thank you, Ampersand! - Florists Near Me - San Francisco, California

Ampersand is by far my favorite local florist. Each arrangement I have purchased from them has been beautiful, sculptural and modern in a refined way. Also their prices are beyond reasonable for the size of arrangements that you receive -- I've had to get larger bases because their large bouquets are huge!!! I've had them make custom arrangements (generally avoiding lilies) and they do a beautiful Job. During Covid when that wasn't possible I had zero concerns when ordering because I know the product delivered will be of the highest quality with a lot of care going into the look of the bouquet as well. Will order again and again to support queer owned and local business in SF. read more

Bought and received flowers from here numerous times and all great experiences except this time! Things happen but it was the way they handled it. One of my best friend's grandmother passed away so I decided to go with Ampersand. I usually go for Farmgirl but thought, "I should support the small businesses right now". Well, big mistake. I ordered the $100 bouquet. They literally have 1 option for bouquets right now - "designers choice". I thought, well that's fine since I just need white flowers. All I requested was "mostly white if possible" as it's a sympathy arrangement. Should be easy right? I get an e-mail saying, "designer's choice means we are unable to take on any customizations or specifications for orders". Damn okay, *still telling myself it's good to support small businesses.* The flowers get there and my friend says thank you but doesn't send a photo. So I get worried and ask for one. The flowers looked like they were worth $50. I worked as a designer at a flower shop for 4 years in college so I know which flowers are cheap vs expensive. Most of the flowers they used were cheap and then they added a few expensive flowers to justify the price. The words "seasonal" and "locally grown" are littered all over their website. Tell me why they put 3 peonies in this bouquet when peonies are a spring/early summer flower. When I complained, they responded with a super condescending e-mail full of excuses as to why the arrangement was the way it was. They also told me the 3 peonies themselves were $42. Peonies are expensive but not that expensive! Why? Probably because they're not in season! Ugh anyway, I love how they end the email with, "thanks for understanding and can't wait to make something beautiful for you again"! Hello? I said I wasn't satisfied. I know there's a pandemic going on but it's not an excuse to start overcharging your customers to makeup for your overall losses due to the pandemic. Your customers aren't dumb. Learn from me! Go to Farmgirl- they have the best customer service too. P.S. Imagine the embarrassment when I went to my friend's home later that week and saw that my flowers were the worst out of all the other bouquets. ‍ read more

I bought a beautiful little vase and just as soon as I got home I accidentally broke it, I was so distraught and peeved with myself because she had taken extra precaution to wrap it up just in case. Sure enough I called, NOT KNOWING the policy was final sale and no refunds whatsoever, after speaking with the same rep who sold me the vase. She assured me I can come in and swap it out, never did she mention anything about buying a NEW one. So I wasted my time going all the way down just to be told there's no Replacing a broken item. WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE SAID THAT OVER THE PHONE IN THE BEGINNING! Huge misunderstanding obviously and even worse business conduct. read more

This small quaint hidden gem florist in Mission district is an absolutely must try place. My daughter had asked for us to visit the florist on our day of outing in SF, and I am glad she did. The atmosphere is so pleasant that I didn't want to leavethe two ladies working with great passion were a pleasure to talk to. Checked out the store since I was in the area and this place is quite charming. I came here right when it opened so the staff members were happy to help me and my friend. They cater the bouquets based on the customers needs so the more specific you are with what you want or don't want, the better your arrangement will turn out. The prices for the bouquets is entirely up to you, which I thought was a cool business model. You just state what your budget is and the staff will create an arrangement that fits your budget and needs. The flower selection wasn't bad, but I can definitely see that as a hit or a miss depending on the day of the week. Absolute worst customer service ever and a snotty, unapologetic, unresourceful salesperson. No chance in hell i would frequent this shop again. I found this shop online and loved the look of their flowers. I recommended to my sister to get an arrangement for my mom. My sister was driving and called to order an arrangement and was told no phone orders, only online. She pulled over to order online and ordered the fresh haul. Which is three bundles of flowers wrapped up. When i went to go in and pick up and order a 2nd arrangement. I told them we were looking for an arrangement in a vase. I was told online orders can't be changed and that they were final. "So you can't talk the flowers we purchased in these bundles and put them into a vase." Mind you, there are two employees standing their on their phones doing absolutely nothing. I had to ask for her to call the manager to get this fixed. I ordered a 2nd arrangement from my uncle for my mom and came back and they weren't in vases. When i asked why, i was told there is another policy that case arrangements are only done with advance notice. ‍. an eye rolling salesperson that is unhelpful with no customers in the shop and two other employees doing nothing and they can't put two arrangements into vases!! read more

I found Ampersand by just how adorable their location is! I had contacted several florists for wedding quotes. We were shopping around for a vendor who we not only meshed with, but could take our general concept and run / be as explosively creative as possible. I knew it was a match the minute we got on a call with Emerson, and bounced ideas off of each other - such a collaborative experience. I was sold when he sent me an email soon after about a sensory experience. Ben and Emerson are both super sweet, and I even just enjoyed hanging out with them at our location walk through. My husband and I kept adding more and more areas of floral arrangements because we were so excited by all the possibilities. Emerson even rolled with the punches when we were told a main piece, pampas grass was at the last minute not allowed on the property... invasive species (it turned out for the best!). We decided at the same time on our final call we wanted to be completely surprised, and I'm so glad we did. I was so nervous the day of the wedding due to a bunch of scheduling mishaps and no-shows (and because I'm a bundle of anxiety in general), and when I snuck a peak in the barn I literally had to hold back my tears, and struggled to even string my thoughts together so I babbled like an idiot (can't ruin the makeup, ha). The magical world that Ampersand created for our bare bones barn was so beautiful that I felt like I was in some crazy garden wonderland. Their designs completely eliminated all my fears and worries! We wouldn't have had that "best day ever" without them. Some highlights were that they created an awesome experience for the unveiling of the barn, completely original individual bouquets for the bridal party, palo santo and sage throughout the barn, a dreamy throne area using CORN STALKS, and so much more..... Thank you thank you thank you Emerson & Ben & Team for being such a huge, important part of our wedding - you guys are unicorns! We hope to collaborate again with you in the future! (Ps. we want to do a vow renewal with elvis in vegas for kicks & giggles next year, can we figure out a cool dried bouquet to ship? ha-ha!) read more
