I recently received a delivery of flowers for my birthday. The arrangement was stunning, but a problem developed with some of the flowers. I understand that with a small business things can happen, but I thought the owner would like to know about the issue, so I sent her an e-mail. Within a couple of hours, and out of the blue, I received another beautiful arrangement. I wasn't expecting that response, but I believe that says something about Nicole as a person, and it also say something about her as a small business owner. I'm sorry I can't post pictures of both arrangements because both were really beautiful. read more

Nicole at Black Lockett has been our go to florist for a couple years now. She's made everything from birthday flowers to condolences flowers for us and every arrangement has been absolutely breathtaking, heartwarming, comforting and mesmerizing. Black Lockett was our first and only choice when looking for wedding day flowers. Nicole's a true artist and we could not have picked a more perfect team to help make our wedding day so special. We could not recommend her and her team at Black Lockett more!!! read more

Nicole's work just keeps getting better. She can do same day delivery, the value is INSANE (so much better than online florists), and the freshness of the flowers can't be beat. I replace the water the first few days and the bouquets typically last 10 days or two weeks minimum. Nicole is so talented. Grateful for her wonderful business. read more

Great, super friendly customer service from these folks. They keep you up to date on your order at every step and maybe even over communicate! No need to worry about not being able to pick exactly what you think you want on the website (you never get quite what you quite wanted anyway from most ordering portals). Just tell them what you'd like in broad terms, who it's for and what the occasion is and leave them to it. They use their judgment on what are the best flowers available to them at the time and will make something truly beautiful and unique. read more

I love having this flower shop in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. The owner, Nicole, makes artistic bouquets which far surpass anything I've seen at Good Life for the same price. Safeway's flowers cannot compare. She will also make custom bouquets to your specifications. She's open on Saturday and her other hours are posted on the window of her shop. She also provides flowers for events. read more

Nicole and Black Lockett is seriously the best florist in the business. She was so amazing to work with and extremely creative! Going into this wedding, I didn't have an exact vision of what we wanted, or color schemes. I couldn't really find pictures on the internet that I was say "this is exactly what I wanted". Nicole somehow were able to pull our vision together based on description of how we wanted the space to feel. We wanted warm, incorporation of local and seasonal wild flowers, an inviting space, lots of greenery to brighten up the empty space. I had also bought amber votive holders and these table runners that I wanted to incorporate into our wedding, but these were things we liked but not wedded to. Nicole asked us a few questions, took what we wanted to incorporate, and created our dream floral arrangement for both our ceremony and reception. The ceremony location was a last-minute change and she was able to accommodate so seamlessly. Working with her was so fun and seamless, and I knew I could trust her completely in whatever she came up with for our big day. She even went above and beyond to stop by our place to pick up the pieces we wanted to incorporate so she can take it back and thing about the flowers and colors to tie all the different components together. TDLR: Hire her for any events, big or small! She's amazing, creative, artistic, and so fun to work with. She also taught us so much about different types of flowers and foliages as well! Her designs truly made our ceremony and reception. It embodied us as people and the vision we didn't know we wanted. She really went above and beyond for our wedding and we call ourselves lucky to have her as our florist for our wedding day. Even if you don't hire her for your wedding, you should visit her shop in Bernal Heights and get some flowers for your space. The flowers there are flowers you really don't see any other shops. BONUS: Nicole and Colette brought along a puppy that we were able to play with during cocktail hour. The puppy was definitely the highlight of our wedding. read more

We live right up the street from Black Lockett in Bernal Heights and were in need of a local florist after deciding to postpone our big wine country wedding to 2021 and elope in the meantime. The shop owner Nicole is absolutely amazing and was so thoughtful and meticulous in putting together our elopement florals. I am not the kind of girl that knows all the names of different flowers and has a clear, specific vision of the kinds of wedding florals I wanted. Nicole did a wonderful job asking all the right questions to tease out the color palette and vibe we were going for and the result was beautiful! Nicole was also super flexible when our reception plans changed and we needed some table arrangements in addition to the bouquet and boutonnière. Huge thanks to Nicole and the Black Lockett team for helping to make our elopement so special and we look forward to frequenting her shop for years to come :) read more

A STEP UP EVEN AS COMPARED TO OTHER GREAT FLORISTS Working with Black Lockett was different for me, than with other florists. I provided a target price, and then gave the context for my gift, and the kind of tone I wanted to set. THEY DELIVERED! The bouquet will last along time as it has blooms on wooded branches, not just stems. They included many tiny flowers and accents that are not common in other bouquets, and the entire thing was really expertly compiled! The attached card is hand written, the vase it very high quality looking. Not the cheapest boquet I have bought (of course I was the one that set the price!) but probably the best one I have purchased in many years of memory. If you want something special, go Black Lockett and tell them what you are aiming for!! read more

I had the most incredible experience working with Nicole for my May 2021 wedding! We worked with the owner Nicole for our wedding in August 2021 and she went above and beyond in creating florals and decorating our arbor. We found her prices very reasonable, she accommodated our requests (to add succulents and drape fabric on the arbor), and communication was easy. Prior to the wedding she stopped by to pick up vases, fabric, table signs, votives, and succulents. Her table centerpieces were gorgeous -one friend used it as a prop for photos and my bridal bouquet was unique and so pretty. We are so grateful that she handled everything so beautifully! read more

You want a really impressive floral arrangement? Buy from here and you won't regret it. The mix of flowers, layout, and choice of colors is always super impressive. Everything I have purchased from here feels one of a kind and special. If there were a flower shop that encourages me to buy flowers "just because" it would be this shop. read more

This recently opened florist in Cortland is amazing. I've been buying random arrangements from other vendors for my wife for years. But without a doubt Black Lockett provides the most beautiful floral arrangements I've ever seen. Nicole is so creative with her designs. She uses flowers and plants I've never seen before and the results are amazing. They are so amazing in fact that I now buy an arrangement every two weeks for my wife. I've never done that before and I'm more than happy to with Nicole/Black Lockett because they are truly unique and wonderful arrangements for your home. They also have a super cool front display window that really shows off Nicole's creativity and gives you a small sense of the great products they produce. read more

Nicole works some serious magic! She's created a few centerpieces for me and each time she has completely blown me away. She adds a really unique touch so nothing looks generic or expected. The picture doesn't really do it justice - but it's been a crowd pleaser! read more

I called Nicole the day before my best friend's birthday when I couldn't deliver flowers myself. Nicole called me back within a few hours. Although she was planning to take the next day off to visit with out of town friends, she made time to create and deliver a beautiful bouquet of dried flowers to my friend who lives nearby in Bernal Heights. She also took the time to email me photos (see below) and a flower list. Highly, highly recommended for kindness, follow-thru, and floral arrangement excellence. read more

I'm not even sure where to begin with this review. Every bit of working with Nicole was so wonderful. I stumbled upon Black Lockett walking down Cortland a month before my wedding (the shop itself is so cute), and I popped in out of curiosity--I was still in search of someone to do our bouquets. Nicole was so warm and easy to talk to and listened intently to my rambling on about what I was going for (I felt like I was a bit all over the place, but she got it immediately). She put me and my grandmother both at ease (she worked separately with my grandmother on boutonniéres), and after meeting her, I knew I had nothing else to worry about when it came to flowers. Nicole made my wedding bouquet, my husband's boutonnière, bridesmaid bouquets and groomsmen/ring bearer/fathers' boutonniéres. When our friend arrived with everything on our wedding day, I was at a loss for words. My bouquet was beyond what I could have dreamed up in my head in so many ways. Nicole paid so much attention and care to the colors, the structure of the bouquet, the flowers themselves (so many interesting ones I'd never seen before! I kept finding new ones to ogle at!) and the SMELL! I didn't even realize how good the peony and garden rose smelled until the day after when I feel like I really got to take the whole thing in. The bridesmaid bouquets were an absolute dream. I've never seen anything like it. And the corsages complimented everything so perfectly. I could not have dreamed up more gorgeous flowers for our wedding, or a better person to make them. THANK YOU, Nicole!! read more

We chose Black Lockett for our wedding flowers, because we are local in Bernal. Not only was it meaningful, but also we couldn't have been happier- everything was gorgeous! I came in to buy an arrangement for my best friends dads funeral. Needless to say it was a stressful morning.
