Steak sandwich. Not great. My husband said he should have just gotten a burger.
    Sunonda W.

I am a bit disappointed. I admit I was expecting a much better experience. The food is ok. Not great but flavorful. Very small portions for the cost. The cake was very disappointing!! The service was underwhelming to say the least. The ambiance was loud and dark. We probably won't return. This The Godiva chocolate cake. This tastes exactly like a lava cake from anywhere else. They just dress it up with some chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. The ice cream is not as advertised. We are regulars at Amy's Ice cream and this was definitely not!!!

Biscuits and Gravy (includes 2 huge jalapeño cheddar biscuits!)

Today we checked out the new brunch being offered by The Republic. The food was all very good. We enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, which is made with two large jalapeño cheddar biscuits and a thick creamy gravy. The Rise and Shine Flatbread by far was our favorite, and the Texas Waffle was light and fluffy. However this brunch could so easily be made great with just a few tweaks. Even though there is a separate brunch section on the menu, there is no additional brunch cocktail section. Owners: please, I beg you, put together a simple insert or table tent with your brunch cocktails. We learned that they did mimosas and saw someone get a Bloody Mary. Others had coffee cups so I'm assuming they also had coffee and could easily put together an Irish coffee. Maybe even use the space toward the front as a Bloody Mary bar is there is enough interest? At least put together a brunch cocktail menu- your drinks are usually so great! Adding a couple of breakfast items to the kids menu (a breakfast taco option and a waffle option would be sufficient - a lot of restaurants do half a waffle as a "kid's waffle") and having some a la carte options as sides would be great. Finally: there wasn't anything very Texas about the Texas waffle. It was a good waffle, don't misunderstand. But it wasn't in the shape of Texas, didn't come with pecans...what was supposed to make it Texan? Also, my son wanted a little butter to put on the waffle, and the only option they had was melted butter. Really? He dipped into it and it was fine, but I have trouble believing a well stocked kitchen has no butter. I don't want to leave you with a bad impression though. As I said at the beginning, the food was great. The service wonderful. But stop making your server tell each customer that they have mimosas and just put together a breakfast cocktail menu!

I grew up in Charleston SC watching 'wrasslin,' specifically the WCW and even smaller productions. There was this wrestler named Bret Hart who coined the phrase for himself as "The Excellence of Execution," which was egotistical but a selling point. So, when I came to The Republic I found the antithesis and parallel of the aforementioned phrase bouncing around in my mind. Located in in a very drab shopping area, which is to say utterly generic, The Republic is easy to find, plentiful parking and in a safe section of town. Outside, there's no pizzaz, nothing the lends credence of a magical or unique experience, like a WWE wrestler who comes out without any snap. Sorry, curb appeal matters to me as I like to be jazzed up before I even enter a joint; nope just a sign with the name followed by "Kitchen + Bar." I don't like to set a negative tone as not everything was bad; thus, I'll walk through my review which parallels the experience. The Republic is four-legged furry family friendly on the porch so I wrestled out a rod iron chair from the clutches of the table, tied up Fido and prepared to be entertained. While lacking any real view to speak of, there are amenities like cornhole, a small fenced area for kids to practice their "in-ring" moves, TVs and the overplayed string lights. It took a while for us to get a waitress of which she apologized profusely. Being of inquisitive nature and a former F&B employee, I asked what was wrong. She informed they've been short staffed for a long time to that I'll commend her as she did an outstanding job flying around like a wrestling bouncing from rope to rope. The drinks were pretty good and creative. I got a bourbon which is basic and to my liking while my tag team partner got the smoked Old Fashioned. It was a pretty creative drink, with a large glass holding in the fumes and she loved it, but I don't dig on smoke in my cocktails. The point is they have a selection of well executed adult beverages that inspires excitement like The Undertaker dropping a Tombstone so order with confidence! I had my heart set in anticipation on getting a Bavarian Pretzel, much like buying tickets to see Goldberg live however it was a no show. I was informed the restaurant had run out and I quote "like we always do." That's poor execution as repeated oversights can and should be addressed. Therefore, be wary and temper your expectations when previewing the menu. The food festivities were limited to lite fare as I wasn't dinner hungry but nibble while I drink hungry. All the contestants took a long time to get to the ring, remember short staffed, but the wedge salad & kobe sliders finally climbed in the squared circle. To my surprise the salad was pretty good however the red onions were huge. This salad would gotten more pop from the crowd if they were cut much thinner and evenly dispersed as I'm not into biting into a huge chunk of onion. Otherwise, I was happy with the performance. The highlight of the evening was the Kobe Sliders, or at least should have been. In what was a surprise move, the huge onions came back out to the ring and caused chaos! I had to pull some off of the meatball shaped patty. The Kobe was like a masked wrestler, not allowing the fan to really know if it's Kobe or not (I had my doubts). My first bite was somewhat disappointing as the meat was overcooked. Otherwise, the flavors were on point with gooey cheddar, ripe tomatoes, interesting pickles and a good comeback sauce. Overall, The Republic was an ok experience which teeters on the cusp of a great main event. To the average fan some of my concerns might not be valid. However, a seasoned veteran might find some of the finer oversites might be like the annoying announcer who just won't go away. If they pay closer attention to details, have popular items always available and most importantly staff appropriately The Republic could be a destination.

    Buffalo chicken sliders
    Neeharika P.

Just an average place. The French fries with Cajun seasoning and Sriracha mayonnaise were perhaps the best dish we tasted. The taste combinations on the buffalo chicken sliders were weird, with buffalo sauce, ranch and blue cheese - it could work but it didn't here. The Baja shrimp tacos were ok but overpriced - very few shrimp and mostly filled with random grated vegetables, with a side of underspiced beans. Didn't get any drinks but the coffee was great! That being said, the ambience and decor looked great and our server was really nice. Just that the food was subpar to mediocre at best.

We came in for a ladies brunch on a Saturday morning, not sure they wiped down the tables after Friday night drinking as our table was gross!! The place was not crowded and the music was not too loud. They didn't seem short staffed, as some establishments are these days. The waiter was attentive, courteous, and thankful, all great qualities. We shared 3 different items, the pigs in a blanket, hash, and an omelet. The hash was bar far the best, IMO! The omelet we had to return because it was COLD not just luke warm but COLD EGGS!! It was not appetizing at all. They did make a new one which was very good; word of caution, those are red bell peppers! Besides the gross, sticky table and the cold eggs it was a good experience. I will come back but maybe for the dinner menu!

Made for a delicious bite. Pork Belly BLT

Long drive from Manor, but was worth the food and the visit with the wifes sister and hubby. This is one of there goto joints....The place has a great vibe, clean and inviting. Service was fantastic....Ashlin did an amazing job...They weren't very buy, so we had time to visit...We started with The Republic Trio with Salsa, Queso and a very good Guac....and those chips...not even sure what they were besides delicious...Along with that we also ordered the crab cake...that being said, the online menu show 2 crab cakes and only one showed up...it looked quit large compared to the online photo...may need to update that....either way it was Very Tasty, light and fresh...Arugula salad paired very well with it. I will say, being that they weren't busy at all, it did take a bit for the food to arrive....but again we only see each other every few month so catching up was nice...more importantly when the food did arrive, it was hot and fresh and tasted great. The wife Went with the Country Fried Akaushi Steak, cheddar mashers with Chipotle Gravy...steak super tender, the gravy (I was looking up recipes after my first bite) was the star of the show....the mashers lacked cheddar flavor, but yet creamy and fluffy....the SIL had the Republic Mac-n-Cheese...that was just wow all together...The BIL had the Steak Frittes....he did enjoy it, not his favorite menu item but tasty...personally the chimichurri was garlic heavy, but the shithito peppers were a nice touch. I went with the Pork Belly BLT...Super tender belly, fresh veg and soft buns...Made for an Amazing bite. Definitely on the radar for the area.

    Chicken fried steak

We have been wanting to check this place out as we frequent Casamigas and shark burger in the same shopping center. We went on a Friday evening and there was no wait so that was surprising. The only complaints I have are that their frozen margarita machine apparently has issues off and on so we ended up getting our food out before our drinks and the salmon added to the salad was far over priced. The piece of fish that arrived with the salad was tiny. I cannot boast enough about how tasty everything was though. It was SO good. Chicken fried steak, tres leches cheesecake, and the republic Salad.

What a great restaurant! I was in town visiting my brother in law and he said he really enjoys this place so we went. Our waiter was friendly and patient. We started with the chips and queso, which were absolutely fantastic. We grabbed more chips because they're delicious and homemade. Highly recommend them. My husband and BiL got the patty melt and I ordered the chicken sandwich. I was very pleased with my sandwich and tots as were the boys. My BiL and I both got the sangria-rita our waiter recommended and I loved it. Wish it was bigger, but absolutely no other complaints.

Chicken Sandwich and Sidewinder Fries. Really good.

I pulled up thinking I was just grabbing a little happy hour snack, and suddenly I'm knee-deep in plates like I'm at an all-you-can-eat taste-test sponsored by destiny. Happy hour food? We ordered everything. Literally. If it was on the happy hour menu, we said "yes." If there was a button that said "Are you sure?" we hit "confirm" without reading the terms and conditions. No regrets. Happy hour drinks? Dangerous. Delicious. Deceptively smooth. One more and I would've started singing along to the music videos like I was auditioning for a comeback tour nobody asked for. And speaking of music-- The vibe was straight fire. They were blasting 80s and 90s hits with the actual music videos playing, and I swear for a second I forgot where I was. I thought I was in a time machine, or at least in some kind of retro-themed VIP lounge where everyone has good taste. The nostalgia was hitting harder than the cocktails. The decor? Chef's kiss. It's giving "classy with personality," like the place knows it looks good but doesn't need to brag about it. Service? Perfect. Impeccable. Smooth like they rehearsed it. Savannah and Silvana were fantastic -- professional, friendly, zero stress, and somehow always there with exactly what we needed without hovering like a drone. Ten out of ten humans. The wild part? They have a huge menu. Like, "bring reading glasses" huge. But I didn't even make it past happy hour because that table turned into a small culinary battlefield and I was happily losing. I'm almost embarrassed it took me this long to discover this spot. This place is a hidden gem, and I'm already planning my return like it's a sequel

I've never heard of a stipulation to get a happy hour appetizer price The overall layout of this restaurant is excellent. I can see it hopping on Sunday afternoons for NFL games and Saturdays in the fall for college football games. It was very empty on a Tuesday night but most places are slow Monday through Wednesday. I hope the place can get it together with their service, logical reasoning, and implement some more common sense and hire more assertive employees and managers. It could be a mainstay in the area with better management and training. No WiFi either and poor mobile data service in this area, so wasn't able to post this review until I got on the road.

There is plenty of tree shade as well, and water bowls set out for the pups. You check in at the bar and then can order drinks directly from a window in the dog park so you don't have to leave the fenced in park, which is nice. This dog park is super casual- no food served here, or cocktails. Just a nice straightforward (and reasonably priced) beer and wine menu. But really, what else do you need? Just some dogs, music (they had music playing) and a cold beer that comes with a cute coozie. The staff was so nice and really good with the dogs- they were there managing all the interactions and ensuring that nothing got tense. I really appreciated that. They do have doggie ice cream that you can purchase and have your dog eat outside of the park (no food allowed inside, makes a ton of sense). This place may not have jumbo screens and margaritas like some other dog parks- but that's fine by me for the relaxed and friendly vibe, reasonable prices, and staff that ensures all the dogs are safe and having fun! The business has a music bingo on Friday nights (or every other) which can be over excessively load. I was with a group of 15+ people - fellow members of an International club visiting the location. The group decided to move out onto the patio because it was too load in the dining area to have a conversation. Shortly thereafter that, the host of the music bingo placed a load speaker out onto the patio and turned it up full blast. We tried to get him to turn it down, but he refused. Thus, our group disbanded leaving only 4 of us. It continued to be extremely load out on the patio and several people started to complain... so I took it onto my own to to turn the speaker down to a reasonable level - I received a applause from the other customers. Within moments, a staff member walked out onto the patio and turned the speaker up to a ear deafening level. I asked her to turn it down and her response was... "this is the way, it always is!" With an attitude like that I became upset - I gave her a piece of mind (a couple of word slipped out - nothing that she hasn't heard before in her life). Moments later, the manager came out and admonished me in a very disturbing manner, which again, was poorly handled. It will be suggesting to my fellow International members and my Meetup group, to look for alternative venues that will appreciate our business (there so many in Cedar Park). Apparently, Whitestone Brewery has more customers than they need. I didn't realize that I had not completed my review - this goes back to the beginning of the year. Note: the response from the Owner is completely inaccurate. Ryan wasn't even there the night it happen - only going on what his employees told him. I have witnesses (business owners that are very involved with the community) that observed the entire event and they were taken back by the whole disregard to customer service. Instead of being apologetic, he throws around statements that legitimizes his inadequacies. A real piece of work.

My husband enjoyed the chicken and waffles and isn't a big eater but it just wasn't a lot of food. It was literally ONE chicken tender divided between ONE waffle. Please see the pic. He said they were heavy on the honey butter and light on the chicken and waffles. This dish didn't come with any sides or other food. 2. Both kids (despite my advice) ordered breakfast. The eggs were ordered over easy and unfortunately they came broken and already runny (pic). The bacon on one was so very very crisp and on the other it was floppy. The hash browns were cooked in so much oil that it felt like you were eating oil - not potatoes. The biscuits were dry. The jalapeño gravy was tasty but we needed a lot more of it to make up for the dry biscuit. 3. Finally, I disliked my food last time which is why we hadn't been back for 4 years but everyone deserves another chanc. Today I ordered off their "specials" menu and got redfish. Redfish is one of my favorite fish so I was excited to try it. When it came I was happy because it was a nice sized portion (see pic). Then I tasted it. It was so fishy and as I picked it apart,I could see it was the blood vein piece. I could not eat it. My teenager is a vacuum and ate it. I then finished our 10 year olds left over eggs breakfast. The green beans under the fish were cooked well. I thought at least I can eat the green beans. Then I took another bite and noticed the SALT. I love my salt. I'm known to salt everything but these were just so so salty I couldn't enjoy them. I did eat them because I was hungry (and later my son's leftover egg dish). The other patios all had a wait. The server was sweet and the food came out fast.
