anyone who is giving a review under 4 stars needs to be sedated because you are simply just crazy. let me start with how i found this place on a whim. walked inside, immediately greeted and sat down. the ambiance of the place is just incredibly cozy. the food? holy moly. i got the spicy vegan peanut bowl... ugh i had to stop myself from licking the plate. i will say charging $3 for a piece of cheese is kinda wack, but hey. if that's the only thing i found to complain about then who gives a damn. read more

sort of a local place, looks like it came out of a western movie from the front , plain and simple on the inside with a nice outside area on a pretty quiet side street in pretty quiet turners falls, drink menu was interesting and my drink, allen manhatten was interesting and generous, we had the bacon mushroom burger and the fried chicken sandwiches, both were flavorful and the chicken had a nice crunch, so what we had was good, service was pleasant though it was not busy at all....so good food and drink, worth a try...i would note there is a really annoying administrative??? charge added, why not just raise your prices by a buck so that the extra charge won't annoy customers!!!??? read more

Sigh, last visit a couple months ago I went and had their meatloaf. As I'd had it before it was good as remembered. I swapped the fries for mashed potatoes and gravy which was good too. Had a beer and when the check arrived I was kinda taken back by the check. Let me say right now I missed the fine print where it said there was a 4$ up charge for the small bowl of mashers and a couple of tablespoons of gravy. Really? And then I see an added on fee of 1.86$ as an admin fee? WTF. So I called the waiter over and asked about the charge for mashers and that's when I learned about the 4$ extra for tators. Ok that's on me. But come on! He was indignant about my questions and explained that the administration fee was to defer the costs of running the restaurant. Having been in the business for many years I called bullshit on that charge. So that conversation didn't end well. I said costs of doing business should be incorporated into your pricing and not an added cost to your patrons in an add on fee. So because he wasn't at all apologetic or empathetic I charged him 1.86$ bullshit charge which I deducted from the gratuity. Sorry to say I won't be returning. read more

Stopped in for lunch , they have a lot of choices from chicken quesadillas to tofu this and that . My buddy got the crab Rangoon pizza and I shared a chicken quesadilla, both were very good . I was surprised at the pizza, they really pulled it off . With the crunch on top and the crab-cream cheese . It definitely reminded me of a crab Rangoon , and was a good size. The chicken quesadilla was full of chicken and came with guacamole, beans and some tomatoes chopped up . Was very good . A guy a few seats down got the pulled pork sandwich and that looked to be the start of the show there ! Wow ! read more

We stopped in for dinner last night before heading to the Roomful of Blues concert, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Our server seemed overwhelmed from the start. It took nearly 30 minutes just to receive two PBRs, although I will say the price was surprisingly reasonable at $3 each and the pours were generous. After we finally got our drinks, another 30 minutes passed before the server returned to let us know our food would be "another 15 minutes or so." At that point, we decided to leave. The restaurant was not especially busy--there were a few occupied tables, but certainly not enough to justify waiting over an hour for a salad and two appetizers. That kind of delay simply should not happen. What made the experience worse was the staff's response when we raised the issue. Rather than showing any concern, the attitude came across as dismissive and indifferent, as if our frustration was an inconvenience. I am giving a 3 because 2 members of our party of four enjoyed their meal, another was ambivalent, and only I was disappointed. Truth be told, I didn't like their menu online but was outvoted. It seems there is a choice of either fattening, heavy meals or vegan stuff - nothing in between. I think the last straw was the tepid water. Ever heard of ice? It was a very hot day. It might have made me less unfavorably disposed to the place. It does lack atmosphere. Bruce K's choice of words from his 9/24 review are exactly what I was thinking - "divey". Some in the party were pleased with their drinks. I had wine and I could have bought two bottles of better wine from Trader Joe's for the price. I just moved to this tiny town in Western Mass and was hoping to find a cozy place to get comfort food. I found it in Rendezvous. Both the meals I've had there were delish. Their pot roast was everything I wanted, even though I got it as takeout. The service was friendly and prompt and the vibe was homey. We went here to take our friend out for her birthday. There was a show at the Shea Theater that night. We arrived at 6 pm, and my friend had to leave at 7:30 pm to meet a friend and see the show at the Shea Theater. The restaurant was seriously understaffed, with two wait staff dealing with a full house. They did the best that they could under the circumstances. We were told that the kitchen was backed up and it would be at least a 45 minute wait once we ordered. We were told that there were certain dishes that were fastest, such as quesadillas, so that is what we ordered instead of what we had selected. In the future I personally would avoid going here before a show at the Shea Theater. Apparently there is not enough staff to be able to handle both the take-out orders AND in-person guests. It was actually embarrassing to offer to take my friend out to dinner for her birthday and then have it be the opposite of festive, with her worrying about whether the food would come in time for her to make the show. And then when I got the bill, I felt that I was paying for a meal that we didn't really enjoy. A big "meh." read more

We ate here last night and everything was so good we ordered our entire dinner again as takeout. My partner and I split the special of the night, a cottage pie made with lamb, with a side salad. We also got the asparagus and fries as sides. We are not huge meat eaters so usually one entree suffices but we squabbled over every bite and ordered a second side salad "for dessert". Today I'm eating it again and I have zero regrets. This is a really solid restaurant in general and I'm so pleased to see they've weathered the pandemic so far. This is one the only restaurant we ate at during the semi-peak periods where restaurants were still open. The outdoor tent is awesome, and they have a great "something for everyone" menu, so we always being visiting relatives. They have humored my alcoholic grandmother, delighted my foodie mom, and satisfied my picky sister. Really appreciate them and hope to continue eating here for many years to come. read more

I have been here a couple times now, it's a decent place. Not upscale or dressy by any means. Local bar/restaurant in the small town of turner falls. Not a very large menu, ranges from a few starters like wings and nachos and quesadillas to different tacos to burgers and sandwiches and a few entree salads. I have had the grilled chicken Cesar salad and a grilled chicken quesadilla. Both good and great portion size for me. Great margarita's! Outdoor seating on a small deck, has some heaters for chilly nights and a tented outdoor seating area as well. Definitely worth a stop if ever on route 2. read more

The host informed us it would be about a 45 minute wait for food which we were totally okay with because we had time before the show. It took the waitress (glasses and long blonde pony tail) over 15 minutes to come over to the table, then another 15 minutes for the drinks to be dropped off (by the host!) we waited 45 more minutes for the waitress to come back over to take our order (which we did not have any more time to eat) and the waitress never came back over! So after 1.5 hours we were given two drinks and ignored. Not happy with the experience at all and appalled. read more

Stopped by on an early summer night and sat outside for dinner. Food and drinks were exceptional and reasonably priced. Two of us had wine to start: unlike most restaurants, The Rendezvous believes in truth in advertising. Whereas most restaurants charge $12 for a short glass, they offer a 5 oz. glass for $6 and an 8 oz. glass for $9. (Needless to say, our party ordered the large.) For entrees, we chose the seared tuna taco, the baha fish taco , and the Bahn Mi, a grilled chicken sandwich topped with bacon, marinated carrots, jalapeños, and mint. Might sound like a bit much but the balance was perfect. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Can't wait to go back! read more

Just stopped in for lunch on a drive to see the foliage around New England. We weren't sure what to expect upon walking in, but by the time we left we knew we chose the right spot for a great, small-town vibe and delicious meal! We sat at the bar and could tell right away that they were a bit short staffed. One of the owners helped us out and did a great job of letting us know what to expect. They were about 4x busier than their usual Saturday so he apologized, asked for our patience, and helped us to get our order in before a big party which would have delayed ours. That was the perfect move, because we ended up pleasantly surprised at how quickly our food came out. (He also took the time to make me a lovely Manhattan with a smile, which I know took more time than pouring a beer - I felt a bit bad ordering a mixed drink when I could see they were struggling to keep up but he didn't blink at my request!) We both ordered Voo burgers and were very happy with them. Both were perfectly cooked, the smoked cheddar and chorizo on top were delicious, and the fries and potatoes were both awesome. They are charging a 4 percent kitchen fee now in addition to all the regular tax. This kitchen fee is basically a mandatory tip in addition to whatever tip you decide to leave. I'm going here much less because of this and also deducting 4 percent from any tip I leave. Spread the word. read more

Whoa, am I in Brooklyn or Turner Falls? Stepping into this cool bar/restaurant/event space made me feel like I was strolling into a place by the Gowanus Canal in hipster-haven Brooklyn! It was like a holo-deck on "Star Trek"...I really felt like I could have been in Bushwick or some place like that. The place had a low key vibe with mis-matched furntiure and eclectic art on the wall. The staff was sufficiently pierced and inked and the service was kind but slow and forgetful. There was an extensive cocktail menu (I liked my Turner Falls Manhattan), plenty of local beers on tap and a pretty decent selection of food. And of course there were board games and such to entertain you while you were waiting for your food. The pretzel was just okay but the roasted potatoes with the aioli sauce were excellent. My buddy's veggie burger was spicy and tasty (although the spiciness was a surprise because it wasn't advertised that way). My chorizo, garlic and flatbread was pretty good. It was a very generous portion. I think a little bit thinner crust and a little less cheese would have stepped it up a notch, but it was still good and I couldn't finish it. What made me realize that I was NOT in Brooklyn were the very agreeable prices. $8 for a great cocktail??? Thank you very much, I'll take that. I think entry level for cocktails in the 718 is about $15 now so I was very happy. read more

Truth be told, we only wandered in because we saw the plane on the sign outside and thought it was a clever way to announce a coffee house and really wanted some coffee. Pleasantly surprised to see it actually sold food and alcohol. Cute interior with well loved chairs and interesting art for sale. It was quiet but not empty on a Saturday afternoon so we had our pick of seats. Great cocktail list. I went with a Shirley Temple Black and wow, it was strong. We weren't super hungry so we split a turkey and pear sandwich. Very tasty. The menu looked interesting with a nice variety of items. Prices were great for the good food and nice atmosphere. Came into the Rendezvous today for the first time and was not disappointed in the slightest. The atmosphere was quiet, laid back and the waitress was really sweet and friendly. I bought a chicken veggie panini while my partner bought a burger, and both meals were delicious. Both of us were actually surprised at how great the food was. The Rendezvous also had great music playing and seems as though it would be a great place to spend the afternoon with a group of friends. Needed to find a dog friendly place on the way back to NY after a weekend in VT. Thanks to Yelp found this bare/cafe located in a working class area of this town. Loved the menu and food. Asian slaw, panini sandwiches and fresh to order burgers and sandwiches. Sat outside on a beautiful day and although they didn't have their signature wheatbread there was enough to choose from. Went to this restaurant for dinner and had a great time. All of the food was great tasting, and they had a good variety on their menu. We found some of the portions to be small, but that did not subtract from the night. It was our waiter's first day, and we were told that the cooks were also just getting the hang of working there. It was clear that the restaurant hasn't quite gotten the swing of things after reopening, but I'm sure they will soon. The people working there were very nice and helpful.
