Our recent visit to Herrick's Tavern was just as good as we expected. We chose a table by the window and were soon warmly welcomed by a waitress. She handed us a menu and neatly wrapped silverware, and then took our drink orders. There were ample choices to be made for our early evening meal, all of which were fairly priced and sounded delicious. Two of us chose the fried chicken tenders, one selected the fried haddock, and the other ordered the meat loaf dinner. Our meals arrived promptly and and I was very pleased to see large portions on all. Want great food with friendly service and a warm smile??....Herrick's will certainly not disappoint read more

My dad, aunt, and I had a great time at Herrick's. Our server was friendly. We sat in the bar section, which worked well, though the outdoor seating looked lovely. You probably have to order wisely here. We all ordered sandwiches and that was the move. My grilled chicken sandwich was really good. My Ada and aunt enjoyed their meals too. The real winner was the Mile High Peanut Pie, which was delicious. I'd go back for that alone. Definitely a good choice in Orange. read more

Really good food, friendly service with plenty of seating inside and out. My BLT was perfection and my partner very much enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. They also have an extensive beer menu and a full bar. The yummy desserts are an added bonus. read more

What a great place. It's a tavern, great fried food, beer selection, jumbo drink selection and a very competent and courteous staff. Have a second year kid at UMass and this is our jumping off point on way home or to depending on the trip. Fried clams, fried scallops perfect, fried fries also crispy, hot and perfect (and 3 options!)plus housemade onion rings. Chicken Caeser wrap w chicken -grilled to order- not cold cooked chicken pulled out of fridge. Chowder, a pile of burger choices. I'm comfortable saying they know how to cook- whole menu is probably very well executed. I had an opportunity to eat lunch here recently. Larger and nicer than I has envisioned. Warm and friendly staff (they were the best part) and good food. It is set up at a bar, so that's where so sat, but there were several four-top tables already full of dinners...a good sign. I had the special-country fried chicken..yum! Car broke down on 202 so I was forced to stay at just a horrendous, flea ridden motel called the Travel Inn while my car was fixed. Fearing I would get full blown AIDS just by breathing the air in my room, I ventured out to Herrick's Tavern to get black out drunk and inhale a burger. I'm sorry to say my day got even worse for the wear after my experience there. I ordered a Tito's w soda and after the first sip I called the four eyed, absurdly surly bartender over and asked if she forgot to put the Tito's in. She didn't respond but gave me one of the most venomous eye rolls I've ever experienced. When my burger came out it was literally saturated in grease and the top bun was mysteriously missing. It also looked as if someone had helped themself to some of the fries bc some were clearly half eaten. Not long after eating the burger which was raw as a baboon's rear end, my stomach started to rumble like never before. I barely made it to the bathroom which was another bizarre experience. I've never seen a bathroom stall that didn't have a door on it. Basically patrons are forced to drop bombs right out in the open. There was a hellacious smell coming from the toilet so I popped open the cover and it was clear that not one, but several people had upper decked it. Overall the entire experience miraculously had me yearning to get back to the dump I was staying in. read more

How shall I describe Herrick's Tavern? Imagine you live on the end of the earth in a tiny town. You got about three solid options for a sit down meal without driving far. That's weeding out the ones that are fast food or total dumps. So this place is "okay". Not great and certainly not a place I'd go if we had more options in town. I went quite a few times and can say I ordered enough items to say that. Yes they have some good meals. The others are just "okay". Prime example was their Irish meal for pats day. I had toilet water and a very little meat or potatoes. Wasn't creamy like a "stew". I sent it back and picked at the appetizers. Just disappointed on that one. Seemed like they were running out and tossed in more water! They also have a vacation time where they close down. Can you imagine bringing someone there for the first time bragging how it's a decent local haunt. Then they said: we are out of chicken, beef, pasta... and (wait?) what??? Every time I have been I have to say I've been disappointed in the food itself and the presentation. They give you a lot but I've never tried anything on the menu that I loved - i've never found myself ordering some thing and commenting that I really enjoyed it. It's passable, just not really great food. Standard American fair brought in on a commercial co. food truck. Not high quantity, and cooked without flair. My friend says their fried food is good. And I have heard they make pretty good drinks but I can't comment on that, because I've never ordered one. Anyway, we have very few choices of restaurants in our town or the surrounding area. You really have to go outside of the area to find something really good and fresh. Like Amherst. Where many places use local ingredients and produce homemade tasting meals with panache! read more

Unfortunate for the establishment the review is more based on the staff and their lack of focus on customers other than what appears as their regulars. Pre rush with 13 empty seats at the bar (I always sit at the bar when traveling alone). I was asked if I'd like a drink and that is where the service ended. After asking for a menu I needed to retrieve my own menu. Meal arrived and needed to ask for silverware, napkins, ketchup, etc. Needed to flag the staff down for another drink each time as well and ask twice for the check. Sorry to say that this is not my first time here but the service or lack there of has been consistently unattentive at best. Did I mention the bar top was never cleaned the entire time I was there? Food on the other hand has always been acceptable and well presented. Sorry to have left a bad review although you should all be aware of what may be in store should you wish to stop in. I just had the worst Shrimp Alfredo ever!!! It lacked the creaminess that Alfredo sauce should have, and it wasn't even seasoned. It tasted like water down milk. There wasn't parmesan cheese, no garlic, nothing!! I was extremely disappointed that a fine establishment like this can't cook a simple Alfredo sauce. We eat here a LOT because they're close by in an area with few restaurants. It's definitely a pub style menu and the food is consistently good. I wish the menu would change up once in a while. I do have one b****. The fish fry was always fresh haddock in puffy crisp batter. I would order it any day of the week as one of the best things on the menu. Last week I got a flat breaded piece that looked like it came out of the Gorton's fisherman's freezer. I was told it's always been that way, they only do the good stuff on a certain day and only for lunch. Well, I must be hallucinating because I've ordered it repeatedly on all days of the week and I've never had lunch there. What's up guys? Bring back the good fish. read more

We were in the area for Cider Days and needed a place for dinner. Herrick's Tavern it is! Ambiance: From the outside we could hear LOUD karaoke music, but once inside we were surprised to see a full wrap around bar, restaurant table seating, and another closed-off section which is probably where the karaoke music was coming from. Unsure of what else is back there-- perhaps pool tables? It sounds a lot more bar-like. The decor is small town sports bar: unassuming. Everything from families sitting at the table to single people at the bar. Service: We had a terrific waitress. She was busy, serving every table in the restaurant area, but we never felt like we were waiting on her. Food: The menu is typical American: appetizers, burgers, salads, fish'n'chips, etc. The two guys ordered burgers, rare, and I ordered the haddock nuggets with onion rings. Both of their burgers looked phenomenal! Properly cooked to temp, and my husband was very pleased that their "blue cheese" is actual blue cheese crumbles and not blue cheese dressing! They were very happy with their dinners. My haddock nuggets dinner was a lot less lovable. The onion rings were stringy and the batter was falling off of them left and right. Half of the onions were crunchy (like, raw) and others were mush. The portion of fish was severely lacking: looked to be less than 10 tater tot sized pieces of fish. I'd recommend skipping the nuggets and just going for the haddock dinner, where you can see the portions better. The fish itself was okay-- not great. We also ordered a couple glasses of Citizen Cider. Overall, for a dinner out in Orange, you can bet on Herrick's to deliver a delicious burger and drink. read more

This is a very pleasant restaurant with a large menu of sandwiches, burgers and salads. Our sandwiches were very good, but the four star rating is due to the AMAZING home made potato chips. My husband chose to take me to Herrick's Tavern. He remembered going there many years back. On a bike run. Used to be next to a mini golf. The reason I'm putting a review in is because Jennifer our server really impressed me. She was right there when she saw Keno cards in front of us. Or when our glasses were empty and asked if we wanted another drink. I observed her as she worked behind the bar and serving others she was just as attentive. Stopped in grab a beers a couple order of wings on way home from a long drive. The place was hopping the bartender Cyndi Did a great job in getting me my order and my beverage. Service was quick however when I got home my wings We're not cooked all the way and the side of barbecue and hot sauce was barely enough for two or three wings.
