We ordered the Ratatouille Risotto and Striped Bass as mains. The risotto was very creamy and cheesy, and the medley of vegetables were cooked well and provided a nice texture difference. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area -- you may want to make a reservation first though!

Recently my wife and I drove 3.5 hours from Cape Cod to Bernardston to take my elderly sister out to dinner for her birthday. I looked for a nice restaurant where she had never been and settled in The Farm Table on Rte 5 just north of Greenfield. Our experience began as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. The grounds were magnificent and entire property was immaculately kept. Upon our arrival we were struck by the beautifully designed interior, ample spacing of the tables and area rugs on the wooden floor. The furniture was traditional New England style and the vaunted room made you feel you were dining in a historic inn. Soon our server Joe came to greet us and couldn't have been more welcoming or pleasant. He made us feel comfortable and gave us time to visit with each other without pestering us for our order. When our cocktails arrived they each came in carefully selected glasses that were reflective of the motif of the room. Soon we ordered dinner and that's when things got even better! The food was wonderful. The entrées in good time and again the presentation was purposefully planned. Stoneware China, mismatched vintage silverware and quality cloth napkins. The meatloaf/mashed/veg meals my wife and sister enjoyed were outstanding. I wanted to go in the kitchen and ask the chef for his recipe! My chicken was perfectly seasoned and prepared and the homemade rough cut mashed potatoes a perfect pairing. I think you get the point of this review! This dining experience, not such the great food, was well worth the 7 hours of driving! The space, service, presentation, value and of course the food were all outstanding. So often recently we leave a "nice" restaurants after dinner feeling ok/good about the experience. Tuesday night we felt elated. This is what dining out should be like! Bravo and we will be back!

After the big St. Patrick's Day Race, we stopped in after Yelp suggested this was both on our way home AND a better bet than the food trucks. We were surprised that parking was a breeze, with multiple entrances. The seating os designed to fit couples or larger groups comfortably, and you can tell the local love to sit around the long bar and chat. We loved our booth! The staff was quick, knew a lot about the different food options, and cocktail selection and beer selection was great. We chose a different cocktail from the list, and shared a bunch of appetizers. The sprouts were good, and the wings were tasty. I think the only thing that got a "nah" was the crab cake. I definitely have it on my list to go back for a meal, noting several dinner specials that met my creative palette.

Most offer mediocre lighting, poor insect traffic, and zero ambiance. Hope & Olive, however, continues to set the gold standard for frog fine dining. I arrived yesterday evening and secured a prime outdoor window-side table (vertical seating available for amphibian guests). The view was excellent, featuring lush greenery, attentive human patrons, and a climate-controlled observation deck. The appetizer selection was promising. Several small flying items passed through the area, but I decided to hold out for something more substantial. Excellent decision. Approximately midway through service, an enormous grasshopper practically launched itself onto a decorative hanging orb provided by management. I was immediately impressed by Hope & Olive's commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The entrée did put up a bit of a struggle. However, after a brief period of strategic positioning, professional stalking, and one lightning-fast procurement maneuver, I was able to enjoy the entire grasshopper. Portions are very generous. In fact, the meal was nearly as long as I am. Service was outstanding. The nearby humans appeared fascinated by my dining experience and refrained from interrupting me while I consumed an insect roughly the size of a canoe. After dinner, comfortably stuffed, I retired to the interior of the decorative orb for what can only be described as a food coma. It served as an excellent after-dinner lounge. As for the human food, judging from the smiles, laughter, and complete lack of attempts to steal my grasshopper, it appeared to be quite good as well. Pros: Farm-to-frog dining Excellent grasshopper acquisition opportunities Beautiful garden views Comfortable post-meal napping accommodations Curious but respectful human audience Cons: Grasshopper only appears once per evening Difficult to fit into your mouth, but that's a "me" problem Would hop here again. While staying in Londonderry we were looking for a place to grab dinner after a day of skiing…read more About the only place open in Londonderry was The New American Grill so we headed over to grab some dinner. NAG is located in the shopping plaza at Routes 11 and 100. The decor is nice, simple and comfortable. The menu is diverse with various ethnic dishes along with the kind of dishes you would expect from an American Grill. My friend ordered the Seoul Food and I ordered a Scallop special. When the food came out both dishes were very nice, however after my first taste of the scallop special I realized that the dish was topped with bacon, which had not been mentioned in the description by the server. The server was very nice about the issue and offered to have the dish remade without the bacon, but I opted instead to get the Pesto Shrimp Alfredo pasta; the kitchen managed to get the new dish out promptly. While the shrimp in the dish were good, I found the sauce to be a bit one note and overly heavy; it really seemed to lack the herbal taste I expected from a pesto dish. While not a bad dish I would not order this again. My friend did enjoy the bulgogi flavored chicken. It seemed most of the guests were enjoying their meal, unfortunately I just seemed to have some bad luck with my meal selections. Hard for me to make a strong recommendation for The New American Grill, but of course your experience may vary.

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was very good as usual. Calamari (fried) is served atop an aioli that's heavy with garlic. For my main course I opted for the branzino with seafood risotto. I would not recommend this dish. The branzino came out slightly warmer than room temperature with a big dollop of room temp butter on it. I wonder if the intention was to put the plate under the salamander to warm / crisp things up prior to service but was forgotten. So I scraped the butter off the fish and onto the side plate it went. I was hoping for crispy skin but alas it was not to be found on this dish. Off came the skin and onto the side plate as well. The fish did have a good flavor to it. The seafood risotto was swimming in butter and was not edible. There were several mussels (in the shell) in the risotto, as well as small bay scallops, and several shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were incredibly overcooked and the mussels so gritty that they were inedible. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. I think that this is the last time that I'll dine at Johnny's in Amherst.
