My wife and I just had a nice lunch at Raven's Nest. We arrived at 11:35am and had a seat at the bar. We ordered a Guinness and a Skinny Margarita for drinks and calamari appetizer to split and both ordered fish & chips with sweet potato fries. The meal includes a home made cole slaw. The barmaid was friendly and efficient, definitely service with a smile. The drinks were great, a full pint glass and a good pour on the mixed drink. The calamari was spicy hot, as advertised, and very tasty although you noticed that is was quite salty about halfway through the experience. The fish and sweet potato fries and cole slaw were good. She definitely got a piece of cod, mine could have been sole as was thin and fine grained. I was expecting cod as the menu stated cod. We ordered another round of drinks. The bar was now filled, there was good music playing, the decor and atmosphere were very pleasant. While I fully enjoyed our lunch, I am holding off a bit on account of the price: $90 for what I described including tip. I would have happily paid $60-$70, but $90 felt a bit much for our selection. read more

Bring the boys, bring the date, bring the family, this place does it right. The food is way above average bar cuisine. It's apparent the chef has a culinary degree. This place has an incredible atmosphere. Always packed, and Mike is always pouring cold ones behind the bar. Great vibes during sports games especially for the Bruins and Patriots. The Raven's Nest covers a broad spectrum on several accounts. The age spans from infants to 90 year olds. Attire ranges from people in sweats to sport coats. And the occasion from work dinners and dates to hangin at the bar with the lads. I just wish the restaurant was bigger and the bar was longer. Sometimes this place gets too packed, and like any other place, there can be a long wait. However for how popular this joint is, I wouldn't mind if the square footage increased. Have been coming to this local Walpole favorite for years. Always sit at the bar to eat a light dinner and have a couple drinks. The bartenders are super attentive and genuinely nice. Cute Irish pub. Food is better than similar local restaurants. Very local feel with a little too much country music. They do have about 6-8 craft beer offerings. Tap list is mostly unavailable. It would be helpful if they had a chalkboard listing what's currently on tap. And attempt a little more in the craft beer category. read more

The food is fantastic! Try the short rib appetizer. It's packed with flavors and the meat is falling apart. This is one of the few times I felt like there were so many amazing options on a menu, a mixture of traditional selections and unique options. Service was also quick and friendly. Only slight slight downside is that they haven't played into their Edgar Allan Poe inspiration as they could have. They definitely have some touches but add a little more and I'd take down some of the sports paraphernalia (coming from someone loves a sports bar too). read more

Stopped in on a Monday night for a quick dinner after a soccer game. The only things I liked about this restaurant was the decor and my glass of wine. I ordered steak tips which were supposed to be 'amazing' according to the menu. They were not. I ordered them medium, and out the 5 paltry steak tips on the plate, 3 were way over done and the other 2 were raw. The marinade, or glaze or whatever they put on these things tasted like a cleaning product. Awful. The potatoes were instant and cold. My husband got the fish and chips and these were not great either. Funny taste, can't put my finger on it. Just passable. The waitress was very nice and friendly and the atmosphere is cool, but with food this lackluster, why would anyone go there? read more

Best cole slaw ever. I know most people don't get too excited about slaw but theirs with basil and cranberries was amazing. Not much mayo is key. Got this as a side with a quite good cheeseburger for $11 I think, a tad too salty. The bartender could have been a little quicker but he was busy. Managed to grab the last bar seat early on a Sat. Actually, I'd like to say 3.5. What was good was good, but the rest was ok. We were greeted immediately and sat by the door. I was a bit worried because I can get chilled, but they had the temperature controlled. First, the wings were AMAZING. Really, really good. Second, we had the special burger with blue cheese in it. The burger was cooked to order, but the flavor was missing. The fries were undercooked. The service was really very very good. Chatty, casual and friendly without being overpowering. Went back to The Raven's Nest this past week to beat the heat. Wings - still very good. My wife's White Pizza got thumbs-up from her. I ordered a Med-Rare burger & sweet potato fries again. Both came out as requested. Burger was cooked to a perfect Med-Rare (though, I did get the Onion/Mushroom/Swiss burger, with "Cajun Mayo", and was disappointed w/ this option, but not with the burger itself). The fries were "sweet" and very good - nice & crispy, not oily at all. I've upped my rating to 4-stars, and can now explore other options on the menu. read more

Been going to Ravens for many years now. The food is excellent. Joe is a great chef and the variety is expansive. Prices and portions also excellent. The service is hit or miss. Bartenders are great, waitresses friendly but sometimes slow. Nonetheless I'll keep coming back here :) I recommend the Reuben, Snowbird, Salmon, Nevermore Nachos, and the epic Mac n Cheese. read more

Atmosphere is ok. Needs some TLC, large rips in the bench along the wall. Food was not so great. While we were a very large party, the food was very inconsistent. Chicken tenders, $12 for 4 very well done (i.e. burnt) tenders covered in buffalo sauce. Caesar salad was iceburg lettuce as its primary ingredient. Sandwich called the "Hot Chick" was a buffalo chicken wrap, but with dried cranberries???? Lots of items had cranberry components. The final straw is the disclaimer on the menu basically stating that any alterations to what is on their menu will come back with an additional charge without notice by your server. This seems amazing as what if you have folks in your party with food allergies??? Get a grip folks, this is not customer focused!!! read more

I like this place. The vibe is very laid back, and they have a great bar and beer selection. Meal highlights: the arancini are great; the braised short rib appetizer is so, so good; the pistachio chicken dish is the star of the show and probably the only entree I ever need to get here; they once had a peanut butter bacon sundae that I will eternally regret not trying. +Quick meal turnaround. -It can get PACKED so come early or make a reservation. read more

Since I work a block away, I really wish this could be my go-to lunch spot. However, having now been 4-5 times since it opened and suffering the same experience every single time, it's just not meant to be. The kitchen is the slowest I've ever experienced. It's slow when it's empty and even slower at half full. There were only two of us today (as opposed to a larger group), so I was interested to see if the wait time for food improved. Believe it or not, it was worse: two sandwiches took 45 minutes to arrive. The server, as always, apologized. But there's clearly something wrong and it's unacceptable. People have jobs. I am fortunate enough not to have to "punch" a clock but even I feel compelled to wolf down my sandwich just so I can get back to the office in less than an hour and a half. If I were with friends on a weekend or having dinner, I'd cut them more slack. But this isn't a destination spot. It's a pub in the center of town. If you can't get the food out any quicker, there's something terribly wrong with your kitchen staff or management or both. The good news? If you're not in any kind of rush and want an awesome Reuben - go here. It's thick, fresh-carved corned beef brisket - not some thinly sliced cheap deli meat. Perhaps the worst food I have ever eaten. My wife and I have eaten here over the past several years and remembered it as being better by far then what is now being served. This is the second bad visit in a row. I had the Pizza ... Mushroom & onion ... It was the worst Pizza I have ever tried. I ate part of one slice, and left the rest. My wife ordered the Salad with Steak tips, she ate less than half. No one asked how we like the food. Even though the plates were near full, when we asked for the check. We paid. We left. I've gone here a few times and the food and drinks are always good but the service is just so slow and disappointing. There was basically no one in the place besides us and it took out waitress forever to come over after we were sat down. And then after we were done eating, we were sitting there for another 20 minutes before she came over and asked if we wanted our bill or anything else. Obviously I just handed her my card and said we are all set. For a small place with not many tables you would think the waitresses would be able to handle it but the service was just so slow. Ravens Nest was super accommodating for my family after we had my uncles wake during the January blizzard. Afterwards the services, thirteen members of my family went for drinks and food. Food was pretty good and the menu appears to have recently been expanded which is positive. Ambiance was nice, sort of an upscale Irish pub with exposed brick. That's where the good ends. Somewhat of a small space with limited seating. We put our name in and we're told about an hour wait. After a lot of time passes the hostess came by asked if we were another party, and we noted no we were xxxxx still waiting and regave our name. Not 10 min later our text says a tables ready and we proceed to the hostess stand. Come to find out she was sitting another party at our table, and looked stunned when we said we were ready to be seated. They hadn't full sat and there was time to fix her mistake but she didn't take corrective action. We approached very timely after having been alerted and for other tables the hostess did a walk through. We'd also very recently reconfirmed with her, so this is a legitimate complaint. The hostess cleaned another table haphazardly leaving sticky residue. So we have a meal and are enjoying a drink and comes over to tell us, and I quote " you need to leave or we can find a table for you but we have live music and you are in the way" and kicks us out!!! Meanwhile the people who stole our original table (who arrived at the restaurant a while after us) are happily chatting away at our original table. I could not believe she told us to leave after giving away our table! Her approach and demeanor was awful, worst way to approach paying customers you wronged in the first place (actually the wrong way to approach any paying customer). Find a better hostess or you're going to lose more business. read more

We are a fan of their Pistachio Chicken and their Chicken Wings. We constantly look for excuses to go there.

The mac' and cheese with buffalo chicken should be a main dish. Quite frankly, it was one of the best dishes I've ever had AND I have enough for lunch tomorrow. I also had a lovely conversation with the hostesses and the manager Jill, who were all attentive, responsive to my bar requests, and abundantly friendly to me, as an out-of-towner (I'm from Virginia). I can't recommend this place enough, particularly if you're a visitor to the area. The food is delicious and the drinks were even better. Thank you for making me feel welcome. read more

We happened to find this place today and am I glad we did!!!! The service was amazing, the food was excellent and yes, it was WARM. I'm not sure what the heat complaints were all about, but it didn't exist today on a cold damp day in February. Mary O was our server, she was attentive, and helpful. We were a party of 5, the fish and chips, macaroni and cheese, chicken broccoli and ziti, scallops and risotto, and pulled pork tacos were all excellent. An Irish band was playing as we left, they added a nice touch and weren't too loud. We will return again, as we have finally found a good local restaurant. read more

We've done very well here - the place is pretty legit for a pub/eatery. The waitstaff is good (a few better than others) and the menus has a lot of options which I have tried. Their chicken tenders are on point and they golden sauce is out of control good. Feel free to get a good draft beer also and make sure you try their desserts - we have enjoyed the ice cream magic. Parking can be a pain, but side streets help. Some nights are busy and you get stuck at the bar so that can be annoying. The crowds can be older cougars and retired jocks who act foolish, but just ignore them. The space can get cramped in those cases, but their table options are your best bet. They have a sister restaurant that is also a great location. Enjoy! read more

Recently moved to Walpole and wanted to try some local eateries. This place is amazing. Garden starter salad was so fresh. Salmon risotto was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. I recently attended the "opening of the Raven's nest" and was wildly impressed. I was greeted by the owner who took a personnel interest in making sure I was taken care of. A very good first start. The place was packed, but not so much so that the service suffered. I wanted to check the place out as the previous business there was also a bar/restaraunt and was long standing institution in the area. I was so impressed I decided to return a week later and have since invited family and friends to check it out. It is very well aquainted and has a natural and friendly energy the moment you walk in. It is NOTHING like it's predecessors and I think can compete with similar venues anywhere in the area. Good beer selection and the food was very good. It's a great place to dine with the family, go for a drink, or watch a game on TV. It has a very comfortable vibe and I don''t see anything like it in any of the surrounding towns, and it's worth the trip if you are coming from further away as well. It's such a great change back to the traditional and away from the "Mall" bars that keep popping up everywhere. I am told they are also looking to acquire their entertainment license and some alfresco dining as well,and with that added to the mix, the Ravens Nest will certainly be the top spot to go to in the area! ...hope to see you there! read more
