I'm sad to write a negative review about any business--especially one where I gave a positive review years ago. This was my favorite place to go: Kim and her staff made mailing so easy, and I loved petting her sweet dogs. But something has changed. A lot. The last three times I've been there, I've felt in the way, I've been scolded, and I've felt mostly confused because my previous experiences had been positive. Today I screwed up my appointment because I thought it was half an hour earlier than it was. When I arrived, I stood out in the cold and snow because the door was locked. She saw me. Then, with my packages in hand, she finally came to the door and brusquely informed me I'd missed my appointment. I was surprised and didn't know if I had to leave. Then she told me to decide what to do because she was holding the door, and it was said so rudely that I decided I didn't want to stay. I don't know what's happened to the Postal Depot, but I hope it's sold to someone who wants to work with their community again. I'm sad to lose this place. read more

So RUDE. This place sucks. I would not recommend trying to mail a package here. Walked up during business hours and the door was locked. Another women walked up with packages that had printed shipping labels and asked me "are they closed!?" I said " I'm not sure the door is locked." I could see someone inside but she fully ignored me when I knocked on the door. Then a lady inside answers the door. She continues to ignore me and turns to the other Women "dropping off?" She says and takes the packages from her and then proceeds to shut the door on me. I say "excuse me, can I mail a package please?" The lady responds with "no! the post office can help you with that!" I said "what do you mean? She just dropped off packages? I just want to ship this." She said "we are by appointment only and I'm in the middle of something!" Very rudely. Okay Then! put a closed sign on the door or something? I've never heard of such a thing. She was so short and rude with me and acted like I was putting her out by asking to mail a package? So this is bizarre. I looked up a mail center on Google and this place came up. I drive there and the door is locked with a sign on the door says by appt only. Then a women came to open the door. She confirmed help was only by appt and closed the door. No one in the store. No offer to help or schedule said appt. I never leave negative review but this just confused me. With the demise of Kinko's/FedEx, it's nice to have The Postal Depot in downtown to provide the vacuum left behind. I come here to drop off UPS, FedEx, mail and buy postage, and each time, I've been helped by a friendly and helpful staff. No complaint, just glad to have this store here and will continue to patronize it for as long as possible. Side note - I like that the staff knows the names of their regular customers and vice versa! read more

Never in my entire life have I experienced someone more rude and aggressive while completely unprovoked .... I came in with a package to ship. Label printed, box full (but unsealed). The woman immediately snaps at me saying "you need an appointment to send things. I can't have people lining up in here while I'm helping someone who actually made an appointment like you are supposed to" *the store is completely empty other than me*. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know. I've never had to make one before. But I can go somewhere else." "well you already came in" *most condescending rude tone ever* Aggressively takes my package, puts my provided sticker label on it, and tapes it shut. "That's a dollar." FOR ONE PIECE OF TAPE. I tried to pay with card- they don't take it under $5. I gave her a $20- she couldn't make the change. I offered to go and get some change out of my car- "No. Just leave. I'll take my hard earned money out of my tip jar" and jabs her finger to it and then the door. I immediately came back from my car with the $1 (still trying to be respectful- I have no idea why) and the door was locked and she refused to acknowledge my knocking on the door to bring it to her. Woman is going to go out of business treating customers like that. Do not act like it is "normal" to need an appointment to ship out a package and then treat your customers like disrespectful morons for not knowing about your (ludicrous) new system of appointments. It's always nice to support a local business, even if it costs a little extra. I was going to meet the new Yelptern at a coffee shop near the Postal Depot, but when I realized it was next door and I needed to send something overnight, I suggested we just head there to finish up the paperwork. When we walked in we were greeted right away by the friendly owners. We took a seat at the table in the lobby, seemingly there for just this kind of reason, and when we were done, I brought the completed docs up to the counter where they gave me everything I needed to send it out for overnight delivery. From the number of customers coming in during the short time we were there, and the conversation being had between them and the staff, I'm guessing a lot of local people use this business for their mailing and shipping needs. It's great to see a small local business like this thriving. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the unofficial mascots! There are apparently a pair of golden retrievers who greet guests. They were sleeping when we arrived, and when we were paying a customer had taken them out for a walk! There's a container of treats on the counter, and I hope to catch them next time! read more

I have been a customer for eight years now. They are great. Frankly, I don't understand the negative reviews because that has never been my experience. Several positive experiences. Several years ago, I received a phone call from them, saying that a client was there wanting to speak to me. I told the manager to send him on up (the building is one story). We both had a laugh. Second, I had an office chair shipped there. I don't honestly remember WHY I had it sent there instead of my office -- regardless, they were very nice though they had every right to be displeased that this very large box was filling my lobby. Third, unlike the Postal Service, they accept wine shipments, and very patiently hold them until I pick them up. Close to downtown. Parking can be a little dicey (but how long do you need to park when picking up mail). Overall, great experience. read more

I needed a simple envelope and arrived today during their posted office hours. Though they had 10 minutes till 5:00 pm on a Friday they locked up for the day. I was told by a rather disgruntled and stressed out employee that they closed and they were on a zoom conference call and couldn't sell me an envelope though when I went to make a phone call the same lady comes through the back of the store for a delivery. Obviously not on a zoom call, obviously not open during marketed business hours. As a colored man I felt slightly discriminated against. I am a local who stopped by today to mail a check that needs to go out today. I was told by the (very nice) counter service person that the US Post Office downtown could help me. I suppose that is a bit like a McDonalds staff member suggesting that I head a few blocks north to the Burger King. She seemed absolutely shocked I would even ask and then very rudely told me to drive 15 mins to the post office. After being a loyal for more than two years, I no longer needed my P.O. Box, so I ended my mail service with The Postal Depot. My service was paid through December 2010, but when vital packages arrived late in the year they could not be decent about giving me a call to let me know. They sent them back, even though my service was paid through. I should have taken warning from her when she complained earlier that year about a customer no longer needing his mail box. If you don't need it, why would you pay for it? I would look elsewhere for mail service. Postal Depot's UPS and FedEx rates are also overpriced. read more

Wow! Let me tell ya about this place. I have never been treated so poorly! I thought that since this is on the way, I could stop by really quick and buy 4 sheets of stamps. Even number, 4 sheets of stamps, super easy math. It was around 4:05 pm I come up to the building and there is a woman looking confused, walking around, pulling on doors, has a few packages in her hands. All I can see form the curb is that there is a big sign with covid rules ( no more than 2 customers in at the same time, etc) and another huge hand written sign that says "PLEASE KNOCK", something is written above it in small print. I cant read that without my glasses. Finally a woman emerges form the back, unlocks the door, lets the lady in front of me in. I am literally about 7 ft ( maintaining social distancing) behind the first customer, walking towards the entrance. I try to open the door and it is locked again. Ok, I am thinking it's probably because of covid. So I stand outside in the cold for over 10 minutes, waiting until the first customer leaves. I head towards the door and it is locked again. The owner lady is behind the counter ignoring me. There is no way she did not see me standing outside all this time. I knock, she opens the door all irritated. I asked if I could by stamps, she says she can't sell me stamps and that they are closing. I told her her sign says they close at 5 pm and it is only 4:19pm. Please note, there is not a single customer there. She said she is busy and has appointments already scheduled and shuts the door on me! I took the picture and only now, zooming in, I can see that in very small print at the top of that giant PLEASE KNOCK sign it says that " all retail is by appointment only"!!! She couldn't tell me that when she shut the door in front of my nose the first time? There is nothing that tells you how to make an appointment either. I even went to their website. Nothing on their website about any appointments or a way to make one. I guess you would have to arrive in person to see the sign, then call to schedule an appointment to buy stamps!!!!! No, thank you! I drove to Vassar Post office, stood in line and got myself some stamps. A nice lady at the counter at the real post office let me choose form a variety of forever stamps and was actually pleasant to talk to. You can expect at least a 30 minute wait at any USPS in Reno/Sparks. Why waste your time like that? I've rarely waited longer than 5 minutes and the owner/employees at Postal Depot are all about great customer service. They can do anything the post office can! Their box prices are reasonable as well. They carry your standard stock of tape, envelopes, greeting cards, and even some local gift type items. *There is a $5 minimum if you are paying with a credit card read more

We selected PD as a temporary address while we looked for a home in the area. I am so pleased with their customer service through all the changes we endured. How they remembered our box number each time we went in truly impressed me. Yes, at times it was very busy. However, they always were courteous and professional. Love the fact that their pup gets to come to work and say hello to the customers. The only and I do mean only negative I have is.......the stupid people who park in the alley making it very difficult to get around to the parking lot in the back. We had it for 2 weeks and decided to forward our mail to where we were staying. Absolutely no refunds, even if we never used and it was a short period. I have been shipping a lot of items for eBay, and normally use main usps postal branches. I stoped by here today because it was closer, and not only was there no line, but I got personal assistance finding the right box and cheapest option for me. In addition, they have some locally made turquoise jewelry on display, way to represent the locals! One thing to keep in mind, they can only charge our credit card if it's over a certain amount (I think 20 or 30) so be prepared to bring cash or check otherwise. read more

I don't get all the negative reviews. I've been a customer twice when living in Reno, and am a current customer. The owner/manager is always nice, knows me by name, and when I come in on saturday, if they have a package too big to fit in the box, even though they are closed, if someone is inside working - they always get my package for me, since I seem to only get in there after 5 and weekends. The golden's are great :) Yes, parking sucks, but and sometimes you have to walk a bit. But the staff has always been nice when I do see them. read more

My Postal Depot bill is one that I ENJOY paying. Their mail service is less like the post office and more like having a personal assistant. The staff is extremely helpful. Some days they have my mail ready for me by the time I get to the counter! I call a couple times a week to see if there's anything worthwhile in my mail. They always happily check it out for me, and report their findings. I enjoy stopping in as everyone is always conversational--co-customers and staff, alike. They're also very accommodating for sending complicated packages and picking out the perfect card. And, no more junk mail! One other hidden benefit of using the Postal Depot: my search engine presence sky-rocketed after indicating my business was located here. It's an amazing location to have a business address! I'm not one to go out of my way to write a review, but my complaint does coincide with others I've noticed. I went in trying to send a wedding gift to a friend in South America and said the address wasn't insured...fine. I can send it to an alternate address! However when I wanted to try an alternate address, the older woman refused to even try. "I won't even touch that. You'll have to go to back to the post office." I'd much rather support the local businesses, but not this one. read more
