The addition of the self-serve kiosk has really aided in reducing wait times. We were this Post Office's 1st customer when they opened in 1994. We have a PO Box & go there almost everyday. In those 29 years, they have the same number of clerks now as when they opened. There are usually 2 or 3 friendly faces on duty to help. Considering Zip 89523 includes northwest Reno, Castle Rock, Somersett & Mogul, they do an amazing job.

Every time I've visited this post office, I've had no problems and all the staff I've encountered have been friendly and very helpful. I thought to snap a pic of the priority mailing prices in hopes it helps anyone looking for this service.

Why do I feel like I just got scammed? I ran a fundraiser for my daughters soccer team. The girls made STRING bracelets and we put them in an envelope with a thank you note. I show up and Regi tells me it is now a parcel and " I can't just put anything in an envelope." I was then charged $4 an envelope to send string bracelet to Washington in a standard envelope. As you can imagine we lost some money on shipping and as a result some bracelets only made $1. I even made a comment that I feel scammed. Regi reassured me that I have to do it this way because my envelope is not completely flat. I will note it was pretty flat. When I went home I was very mad to see that my envelopes WOULD qualify as a flat piece of mail!

I am all about efficiency and for the most part, this USPS does its job well. I don't really understand the hate post offices get on a regular basis, because every time I'm there, the wait is reasonable, the services I get are never bad, and I get my mail/packages delivered when they're supposed to be delivered. I've been to this location a few times, since I live close by, and I've never had a terrible experience like other people. The wait is usually 10-15 minutes no matter what time I go, and the employees are always nice, quick, and efficient with my packages. They ask me a few questions like if it's fragile or if there are any harmful chemicals. The answer is almost always no. So I end up paying right away and leaving within 5 minutes of getting to the front desk. The main reason this place only gets four stars is the fact that most people don't know how to mail things. One time, a woman in front of me did not wrap her package and she forgot the address she was sending it too. This caused the wait to be longer. If people can just learn how to mail things properly, then the lines would go so much quicker. I feel sorry for the employees who have to deal with this kind of ignorance on a daily basis. Overall, I would go to this post office again. Employees are efficient and friendly, and my packages are always delivered on time. I just hope people will learn how to mail things properly.

The employee working has helped me a few different times I have been in and I dread coming here because of the lack of care and positive experience. I gave her my fragile package and she just threw it in the bin carelessly. However inside this store it is organized and easy to mail out packages quickly.

The price has gone up slightly over the years, but nothing too crazy. Some people may scoff at having a P.O. Box, but there are so many positive things about having one. 1) No one ever steals my mail or packages, 2) I never have to worry about changing my address if I move, and 3) It is convenient for travel. I chose this specific location for my P.O. Box because I was a student when I first got it. However, it is still very convenient even after graduating. I only visit the office a few times a year--typically to pick up an oversized package or mail Christmas cards. I know many people would rank the post office right up there with the DMV as "places I'd rather not be." I actually enjoy when I have business at the post office. Probably because all of my post office experiences at this location have been easy! The employees are always pleasant and helpful--even when I have dumb questions like "are cuter stamps available." Haha!

**One of the most unresponsive and indifferent USPS locations I've ever dealt with.**…read more This Reno USPS branch has shown a blatant disregard for its customers and basic responsibilities. Despite having a mail hold in place, they continued to deliver mail while we were out of town, leaving our mailbox overflowing and creating a significant security risk. We even left clear signs inside our mailbox about the mail hold, but they ignored them and crammed mail right past the notice. Adding to the frustration, our Change of Address (COA) has been handled just as poorly. We've used USPS forwarding services in the past without issue, but this location has turned a simple process into an expensive, exhausting ordeal. The staff is unhelpful and, frankly, irreverent. Communication is nonexistent, and any effort to resolve issues is met with complete apathy. Customer service and professionalism are clearly not priorities here. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid this location at all costs. Don't get me wrong, all USPS locations are pretty bad but their incompetence and blatant disregard for basic mail-handling standards at this location are really next level. I'll admit: I don't often find myself aligning with the Trump administration, but if there's one area of overlap, it's the tiny sliver of my views that says privatizing USPS might not be such a bad idea. If you've had a terrible experience with this location, I highly recommend submitting a formal complaint to the USPS Office of Inspector General. So, I have seen having to rely on a post office for ALL mail services, long lines on the last tax night, supersized mail hubs, and everything in between. Mail and many postal services have taken a passenger/back seat to e-mail, on-line bill pay & billing, and services like FedEx and UPS with their own local stores. The USPS it is still an important part of getting mail, ballots, bills, magazines, ads, benefits and packages. Trusted locals for sorting and post marking is still needed for aging Americans along with the sense security that it provides. Locally the USPS carriers are very competent at home delivery. The post offices are clean, productive and mostly friendly. Quite a bit of the speed, local knowledge, and professionalism goes away if "Operations" are moved to Sacramento or beyond. There is a reason our Amtrac office is not even a though on most peoples mind in Reno. We are the forgotten train stop between actual Train Stations between Sacramento and Denver. Not to mention that there are 100's of great paying local jobs that disappear when they "streamline" operations. I understand the business model needs to change to keep the service alive but maybe we could cut back in areas of the country that haven't doubled in population every 10 years.
