I always have friendly service. Sine this is the main post office which houses the local distribution of mail it is a multi-purpose facility. I know others complain about service and timelines but these folks in my opinion are the hero's that put in the effort. This is the worst USPS experience I've ever had in my life. Lorna needs a lobotomy. Sometimes people have been told "no" a few too many times in their life and she sure gets off on telling people no I guess this is *her* time to shine. I needed a new passport because I got married seven years ago and finally got around to changing my last name. Honestly I have been dreading going in and over the past year have rescheduled my appointment over ten times. I finally forced myself to go and I'm so glad I did and I'm so glad I chose to go to the Vassar location again. Making the appointment on line is incredibly easy, they open at exactly 9am which was my appointment time, my name was called first, the woman that helped me was very to the point and matter of fact but pleasant which is exactly what you want in these types of interactions. The whole process only took 7 minutes! It was so easy and painless, I can't believe how long I procrastinated. I do highly recommend going on line and doing your research. Pre-fill out the forms (I completed to types of forms since I wasn't exactly sure which one would be needed), bring the necessary documents and copies and it will be easy. The people here are genuinely so unkind and unfriendly its not even funny. The workers in front always have a giant attitude and are rude to the people coming in, mutliple times they have been racist and have been seen being aggressive to customers. And managment is somehow worse the bald manager is rude and thinks he know everything i had to talk to him to get something sorted and he laughed in my face along with his two female coworkers. If u can go somehwere else i highly recommend it because its not worth your time to come here. read more

I've always had good service here. Sometimes long lines, but I appreciate the full services available and always friendly faces. Today I got turned out of the Plumb Ln. branch before 11 so they could close at 11 for a lunch that doesn't appear anywhere online. So I came here and had a pleasant experience. So I contacted usps via the 1800 number this morning, only 38 minutes on hold! The woman I spoke with started a claim because as far as they know from their end, the package was delivered. This afternoon (Tuesday) the supervisor for my carrier contacted me and informed me that my package was indeed delivered on sunday, but one street over from mine. Now it is up to the carrier to contact the resident and try to retrieve my package so it can be delivered to me. He said if I didnt receive my package by today he would be in touch... surprise surprise, no package. I asked the supervisor why this has happened for the second time within a month, and his response was "I dont know why this is happening so often, I've worked this route myself and it's not that difficult!" He then mentioned that they will start to include a note on the packages for the carrier so he can be more careful to whom he is delivering the packages to. Call me crazy but I thought that's what the address label was for... I'm losing my faith in usps. I guess it's worth it to pay more at ups or FedEx to have my packages shipped and delivered to the places they are intended! read more

I come here frequently to mail stuff for my office. The lines can get quite long but they try their best to move everyone through. After a few visits mailing costly items, one of the employees helped me by suggesting some alternative mailing options. Since I am mailing documents that have certain requirements she was sensitive to my needs. With her advice, she has saved my company LOTS of money. The drive thru drop off is quite easy also. If you do have to go in, there is plenty of parking. Overall, quite an easy spot to get your mailing needs met. read more

Its a public utility what can i say. I nessicary evil... the postal worker didnt leave my package at my door even tho all year littrtally over 40 packages that cost double the amount have been left on my porch. Anyways.... Not greated with a smile and as friendly as a practologist with a hand cramp. But i cant blame them. Moving customers out as fast as hearding cattle. So I'm really disappointed with this post office employee. Her name is Jenny and she was more than disrespectful and impatient. Immediately took her work frustrations out on myself and other customers. If I never had to go to this post office again I wouldn't just said that I didn't have to deal with negligent moody and disrespectful people such as Jenny at this location. I walked in to find no line. One front desk clerk was helping someone and I walked up to the other clerk at the far end of the counter (I wonder if they ever have all 6 or so registers working, but I doubt they have or need the front of house staffing for that) and I said, "Hi, how's it going?" just to be a decent human being who treats retail workers like they're human beings too. I got a blank stare in return. I quickly segued away from trying to be personable and got straight to business and mentioned that I had a package that according to the tracking number had arrived at the facility some 6 hours earlier but was not yet out for delivery. The clerk replied, "Amazung [shipper's actual name changed for privacy] delivery for zip code #####?", and I replied, "Yes, that's right." I gave the first star of the rating since that's the minimum, and a bonus star since the clerk pulled my zip code from the ether. And also they seemed friendly enough, probably after realizing that I wasn't going to be a screaming jerk of a customer. "Well, we have 5 pallets from that company for that zip code that we're going to break down after we close. Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow! " I checked the USPS website to see if they had job openings. Maybe they're just short staffed. Nothing related to open staffing positions at that location. Maybe they have someone on vacation and another employee called out sick today. I have been in the position of being on a short staffed team before, and that probably inadvertently ruined someone's day once upon a time. I'll give a 3rd star as benefit of the doubt that they aren't completely gridlocked and paralyzed, and were maybe just having a rough day. I hope tomorrow's a better day. read more

I think I'd be a disgruntled postal worker if I had to deal with customers like me everyday. I'm surprised the lady on the other side of the counter didn't reach over and smack me straight after the veritable temper tantrum I threw after she told me I couldn't/shouldn't ship my package because it was gift wrapped. I didn't care that all she wanted to do was make sure my package actually arrived at its final destination, I was upset because she didn't recognize the fact that #1, I'm a guy and therefore wrapping gifts is hard enough (I watched about 10 YouTube videos to figure it out), and taking that fact into account, #2 recognizing I'd taken the time to actually think about wrapping a gift I was sending. I felt like I'd been punished for being so thoughtful. I mean, if you want to see me do something like this again, you need to praise this sort of behavior, otherwise, forget about it. Now the next time I need to send a gift, I'll be reminded of this experience, and my lovely friend at the Post Office, and I'll be sure to leave the gift wrap out of the equation. I guess a brown cardboard box with a shipping label provides enough mystery and surprise right? read more

Worst post office. Bullshitting saying they delivered my package and their excuse was "driveway inaccessible", first off I live in an apartment complex. No code needed. Just an open parkinglot. Easy to find. And my unit is upstairs straight ahead. So its very much accessible. Not only that, at 12pm I got notified I had 7 deliveries. I had received 1 at that time. A small box. Had 1 item in it. The big box was missing and was reported delivered. Didnt even tell me where they supposedly delivered it. It wasnt in mailbox or in front of my door with my small package. So since 1 package obviously made it then they obviously had no problem finding it. Well 2 hours later I look outside again and my big package is there and cut open on the side big enough to see what was inside. I'm sure they were hoping it was a ps5 and got disappointed. I'm still missing 2 items that were also reported Delivered. I don't know who this post office is hiring but they're shady af if you ask me. read more

Do they hire people that can't read? I have never had as much mail lost as I have over the last few months. I get junk mail in my mail box that are for my neighbors and people all over Sparks. I got 6 ads for Pizza today from the same company. They delivered a small package to the wrong address and I found from the amazon delivery receipt that it was given to the person at the front desk. I live in a house not an office, no front desk here. I never did get the package. Even went to the Post Office and got no help there. I use to spend about $200 a year on stamps. They are so bad, I have as much as I can sent by email and I pay all my bills online. I spend less than $40 a year now on stamps and I'll reduce that by using e Christmas cards from now on. If the USPS was not a government ran organization, they would have been out of business years ago. Stamp prices continue to go up and delivery services continue to go down. read more

I have made a purchase with TopHatter and it was USPS picked up the package that was delivered through China. The package was two GoPro cameras and was allegedly delivered to my address. STUPID thing was the USPS courier had the audacity to leave that package, rather than in a mailbox or leaving it with the front office, he / she left it on my front steps / porch where everyone can notice it and TAKE IT. That mail courier as far as I am concerned should be fired and his / her head served on a silver platter. This courier works in Reno, NV. Just moved here and they have delivered two packages that they state can't be found but they do know they were delivered around where I live and are sorry for my loss! Really? USPS workers get paid well to do apparently a sub-par job. The delivery carrier is rude and has the personality of a twig. Long lines. Dangerous and inconvenient parking/entrance. Only saving grace? A 24 hour lobby and an APC. This particular post office is also a little bit inconvenient to reach despite close proximity to the freeway. You either get off on Plumb, go over to Villenova, take the winding road over to Vassar and make a leff turn or you have to get off on Mill and drive along the frontage road over to Vassar. Kietzke is similarly a painful way to arrive. The staff here is pretty good generally. I had some trouble with forwarding mail related to it being a business/not a business P O Box which was kind of lame, but I think that's a USPS thing, not a this post office thing. Unless this is the closest post office to your house or you work, I'd go elsewhere due to the inconvenience of the parking lot. read more

USPS - Front entrance - Post Offices Near Me - Reno, Nevada

The 'consumer' side of the post office is a little cold and unfriendly. Staff is helpful but dry. They of course, are just doing their job. Do not EVER come here on April 15th unless you want to frustrate yourself. Now - the business office on the back side? That's a whole different story. If you are doing any kind of services like bulk mail, this is where you will go. The staff back here are 180 degrees different than the other side. Super friendly, super helpful in showing you how to fill out your paperwork. They are jovial and seem happy to be working there. I love it! Getting to the business office is a little confusing but just head south on Market Street where it meets Vassar and turn right, right when the S curve comes up and just follow it back. I swear, you'll be surprised by the people back there! read more

I moved to this area 3 months ago and have had nothing but trouble, they don't pick up my outgoing mail, they never deliver my packages and claim it's the wrong address and they will put new mail in my mail box and completely ignore the outgoing mail, it got to the point where I clipped it in front of the mail box door and they still ignored it. Without a doubt this is one of the worst post offices that I have ever been to. Many of the reviews here state the major problem- the wait time. What doesn't make sense is that there's always a few people working there so I don't understand why things take so long. Getting my passport done was worse. After standing in line awhile (in the separate passport line), I was told that they wouldn't accept my picture due to the background color (no where in the paperwork did it say something about whatever background it was). She also told me that I was wasting her time because the paperwork was filled out and that it's the same price to just mail it without having to wait in that line. Bitch. read more

If anyone would like to see how bad anything can be under the management if the US Gov't, please pay a visit to the Reno main post office. They will open 5 minutes late and make you stand in line for 30 minutes before the first clerk lopes up to the counter to serve the 500 foot long line that gets longer by the minute. This ridiculous level of service was nastily provided on Thursday the 4th of March 2015. read more

So, "one star" usually means that an angry rant is about to follow. I don't have an angry rant for you. I don't want to get political with this review, but the problem with this post office is that at any given moment it has something like 80 customers and 3 employees. Now, if it were a private business, this situation would be untenable. It would either A) hire more employees, even if it meant raising costs; or B) go out of business. But since it's government-run, it can do neither. If you go to this Post Office and need to stand in line for any reason, be prepared to wait at least half an hour and quite possibly ninety minutes. And it's not a pleasant wait. It's just standing in a loud, sweltering, noisy room full of tired, sweaty, complaining people. You will be able to smell them as they sweat through their deodorant. If someone holds up the line, it will become dense enough that you can even smell their breath as you feel it on the back of your ear. So if you enjoy wallowing in a pit of human stink and misery, this is the place for you. The only thing worse than patronizing this post office would be working here. read more

I get fantastic service from the USPS. Much of this has to do with my carrier, known to me only as Kay. She's been delivering my mail for more than 5 years. I almost never get wrongly delivered mail, and she's consistent about delivering my mail at close to the same time every day. This is handy when I have mail to get ready to go out. I can either leave it in the box, or wait until she rings my bell, as she always does because she knows I work mostly at home. Service is delivered with a friendly greeting and a smile. Kay is a hard worker. Anyone would be lucky to have her deliver their mail. She goes the extra mile without complaint. On the rare occassion when I need to go to the Post Office, this is a good branch. Waits are generally short, and parking's good (oops, there I went mentioning the parking again, but it matters to me!). For delivering my mail correctly and efficiently SIX days a week, and for serving me with a smile, my branch of the USPS gets a big two thumbs up! read more

I'm giving them four stars because they get one star for being a post office, one star for having an area for free parking, one star for the self checkout machine, and one for the staff efforts to get people in and out. Each time I step into the parking lot, it's a slight cringe that is all too familiar. I am at the post office. I know the lines are ahead and the children who are unattended and freaking me out. There are generally anywhere from three to five staff who are working a variety of jobs when I walk in. Not one is smiling, no one is mean, yet no one is happy. I wait in line behind a small package and in front of a large package. I'm thankful for my position. I get to the counter and am told I need a customs form for international mailing. I step aside complete it while she helps someone and jump back in line. $15 and some change later I am leaving with receipt in hand and a smile on my face, I just survived the post office. To rate the service at the McCabe post office would be impossible. A "not good" rating is far above the rating they deserve. My problem is with my lockbox for packages that does not work. I have tried three times to resolve this issue and waited 45 minutes each time. I tried to get some assistance from the robot at the counter to know avail, she told me that I would have to wait in line for the fourth time. I asked to talk to the supervisor who after three calls never came out front to assist me, this is after waiting 20 minutes. I finally gave up and walked out. I think it is time for the Postal Service to go private in this country and I am writing my congressmen to suggest just that. I will attempt to meet personally with the regional Postmaster. I've tried several times to call the main post office and the number rings a few times then disconnects. If I go into the actual branch, the line is practically out onto Vassar. People give the Post Office a lot of guff over long lines, (perceived) crippling bureaucracy, and general ineptitude, but I have never had those issues at this branch of the USPS. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, quick, and helpful. Today is a prime example of these good qualities. I am getting my passport for the first time and the clerk, Donna, was not only helpful and friendly, but she took her time to walk me and The Lady through the process of what is next and what is needed on her end. I came to this post office to apply for my passport. I arrived around 12:15pm in hopes that I didn't have to spend too long in line. Boy, was I wrong! At least the people watching was on point to keep me entertained. While I was there I watched a man have to open his boxes to show the postal worker what was inside of his pre-paid boxes (he was trying to sneak in more packages without paying), a customer in line yell out parenting advise to another customer because he wasn't watching his kids run around, and an employee bad mouth management to a lady who had a complaint. He told the customer that "it was going to be hard to get a manager to talk to because they are usually out back smoking." After an hour and a half of waiting, I made it to the front of the line. YAY! The postal worker asked for my documents and I unfortunately didn't have my birth certificate, which I totally spaced. I also needed to have photo copies of my driver's license and birth certificate. I didn't have that either. The postal worker told me if I was already there without copies she would be able to photo copy it for me, but I needed my birth certificate to move forward with the application process. She handed me a yellow card that allowed me to move to the front of the line when I got back so I could quickly run home to grab my birth certificate. She reminded me that I needed to be back before 3 because they do not process applications after 3pm and the card was only good for that day. So, off I went to get my certificate. When I got back to the post office it was 2:40. I stood near the front of the desk so I didn't have to get back in the long line. There was a new postal worker who waved me over. I politely gave her the yellow card back and tried to make nice, small talk with her as she put the card away. I briefly told her about my situation of having to run home for my birth certificate as I handed her my documents. All of the sudden she sternly asked, "Where are your photocopies?" I told her that the other postal worker said that if I was already at the desk without copies that she would be able to do them for me. She snapped back and told me that I left and came back. I had plenty of time and should have made copies. When I mentioned how it was almost 3pm and I didn't want to come back and wait in line again, she ignored me and continued to grumble about the fact that I didn't have photocopies and now she would have to photocopy documents for everyone else in line. I apologized for my error and told her that I could have misinterpreted the other worker when she told me she was able to photocopy them for me earlier. To add salt to the wound, she stepped out from behind the counter and rudely asked the remaining people in line if they had photocopies of their documents. If they didn't she told them they needed to return another time because they needed to be prepared with copies. When she walked back behind the counter, she gave me the death stare and asked if I needed a passport photo. I nodded and she gestured for me to come behind the counter and sit in the chair. While taking my photo, she scolded me again about not being prepared and I again told her I was sorry. After the photo was taken, I walked back to the front and she proceeded to process all my paperwork only asking me questions when necessary. I could tell she still wasn't happy with me and I was right because when I left she gave me a rude reminder about being prepared next time. As a grown adult, I don't need to be reprimanded like a child, especially after apologizing. I understand that postal workers deal with some disrespectful people, but they need to learn to tone down the attitude with customers who are be polite. This place gets one star because my only pleasant encounter was with the first postal worker. I would give zero stars if I could because the other postal worker I had to deal with was a complete jerk! read more
