There's even a large fish tank with live fish and a striking statue in the back that feels like a ship's carved figurehead, something that might be embracing an ancient galley described in Homer. It made the whole setting feel unique and memorable. The food absolutely lived up to the atmosphere. I ordered the blackened seafood combo with coleslaw and a mango lemonade. The dish was unpretentious in the best way, it really let the natural flavors of the seafood shine. The scallops, in particular, were excellent, perfectly cooked, tender, and not rubbery at all, which is no small feat. Others in my group tried the seafood grits and had great things to say about those as well. What really elevated the experience, though, was the service. Kayla took care of our table and did an outstanding job. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space, always checking in at the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. One member of our group was running late due to pedestrian road closures from a baseball game, and Kayla was incredibly accommodating throughout. We had to go back and forth relaying questions from our colleague over text, and she handled it all with patience and professionalism, walking us through menu items and waiting while we coordinated. First we had a dozen raw oysters from the True Chesapeake farm, which were so fresh and flavorful. My favorite hands down was the Chunky Dunker oyster, gigantic and meaty. Then we had broiled oysters, you know, for some variety! They were fantastic. Dinner was fabulous, I had the scallops and my husband had the fish. We ate every single bite, and all but licked the plates clean. To finish, we had dessert cocktails - the Grasshopper tastes like an Andes mint - and we happily headed home with full bellies. Not being a big oyster fan, I did get a couple of raw oysters and actually really enjoyed them and will be back to have more in the future. My mom had the snakehead which was very delicious but also a very small portion for the amount that we paid. The website indicated that for those who are gluten-free, like my mom, the menu had stars on them but the menu that we had did not nor was there a menu with stars indicating what is or could be made gluten free. The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice. We chose to eat outside because it wasn't too hot and we could sit under cover and enjoy the beautiful June weather. It was nice inside but it didn't look to be a very large area inside and could have been very noisy with the high ceilings. Not sure willl try in the future and report at that time.
