Website says OPEN, restaurant is Closed. Very disappointed, as the reviews were good and we were Starving

I came here with a friend on a Friday afternoon a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it! There was no wait, the staff were all very nice, and I loved the vibe. We ordered buffalo chicken wings, a grilled cheese, and a fish sandwich. We were served very quickly and both of us enjoyed our food. I'm hoping to make it back at least one more time before the summer ends. I'd definitely recommend The Point, we loved it! read more

Great overall experience!!! Had to wait twenty- five minutes and that was told to us upfront. We were seated outside. Fairly windy on the cool side. We asked if we could eat outside and everyone was very accommodating. Two of us got the clam/scallop combo and switched out for the tomato cheese salad. Honestly have to say this was the freshest tomato I have ever eaten, really delicious! The clams were fantastic and the scallops equally tasty. The third dish was a scallop haddock combination and met with applause. Mudslide was up to the challenge as well as the the ocean surprise?. What a a hidden gem will be back; often! read more

Eating outside next to the marina was very nice. Food was very good and fresh. Hot lobster roll with drawn butter was much easier to handle instead of cracking all the shells yourself and the amount of lobster was great. read more

Excellent service in the summer only when you can sit outside and enjoy your meal! Except for the time when the actual cook wasn't there or someone else replaced the cook, however the point has a really nice ambiance and the food is really good! Ask before your order! Fried clams were more like clam strips...so if you like the real thing...don't waste your money here. Service was great, view spectacular....Just very disappointed in the food... We'd just made it into town after an extremely long day and had no idea of where we'd have dinner. Looked up nearby restaurants and saw The Point. It's a small establishment, but what they lack in size, they more than make up for it in service. The food was great...fresh and delicious. There were 14 of us so we tried almost everything...haddock, shrimp, calamari, seafood casserole, burgers (THERE was the beef), clam chowder and onion rings. Everything was really good. Then there was the staff. They were absolutely amazing. Every single person we engaged with was patient, friendly, helpful and courteous. As were we're leaving one of the servers suggested a group pic and offered to take it for us. This same lady noticed my daughter was cold and brought her a nice warm blanket to use. That did it for me. If ever in the Boston area again, we're visiting The Point. We must. It'su like coming home to family. read more

My wife and I were attending a wake in the area we searched for " seafood restaurants " this restaurant was not number one on the search list why I do not know. Our host seated us and was very pleasant. Our server Tara was outstanding and very attentive. Appetizers are incredibly large hot and flavorful. Onion rings, calamari were perfect not greasy the suffies filled and overflowing with flavor. Drinks were perfect. Our main courses we had haddock and lobster roll portions so large we could not even attempt to finish. We took home and enjoyed every even reheated they were perfect. We went for breakfast last year right after they had opened, like just opened. They were offering just breakfast at that point. The sweetest family running the show and super accommodating cause I'm a pain in the butt when it comes to ordering given my body builder's dietary needs. They were more than happy to do what they could given their limited resources for just opening! I recall my omelette, homefries and Toast beings phenomenal! Hoping to head back tonight, a year later, for dinner! Update: went back for dinner not once but twice because it was THAT good. First night was mojito (delish), calamari app (perfect and not rubbery), baked scallops with tomato mozzarella salad and fresh squash. Some of the butteriest and sweet scallops I have ever had. Bf and other family members had fried seafood which was lightly and perfectly fried, not heavy or oily. The fries were fantastic and each fried meal comes with an onion ring garnish. Second dinner was calamari (that good) and onion ring apps. Some delicious onions rings. Not heavily battered but crispy and light. Got the seafood casserole this time with a generous portion of haddock, large like extra jumbo shrimp, scallops, and lobster, all topped perfectly in buttery bread crumbs. Sides were squash again (tasty) and roasted red potatoes (little cold by still good). All in all I was exceptionally happy and we chatted with the waitress who had been our breakfast waitress the year before. Turns out she and her husband own the Mug &a Muffin and their daughter is running The Pointe and they are helping her. We decided to go to the Point based on the reviews left here. It was a big mistake. We were very hungry when we arrived, but still only ended up eating about half of our entrees, and what we ate really was just to fill our stomachs. We started with the fried calamari. The batter was very very bland and the calamari chewy. My daughter got the baked scallops entree, and she couldn't eat more than half. She just said they did not taste good. Same with my husband who got the baked seafood casserole. My daughter also got the side of broccoli and it was ice cold. She put a pat of button on it and was wondering why it was not melting. It had been cooked but was cold as if taken from a refrigerator. I got the hot lobster roll - I was very excited because this is not a usual menu item. The few places I have had it before usually take fresh cooked lobster and sautee it with some butter before placing it in a roll. I am not sure what they did here. It was old tasting and just completely dry. if I had to guess I would say it was microwaved? The waitress offered to get my daughter a new broccoli - but we were done with the meal by the time she came to check on us. So she took $5 off the bill. There was a lot of leftover food for her to clear - and we did tell her that the food was not good and did not taste right. I guess I was hoping for a little more compensation. So for three people with a bill around $100 we will definitely never be going back here. And I will never recommend this place for sure. read more

It was our first visit here and the place was full of locals, which was great! Went upstairs to the bar to wait for our table. The bar is small but the drinks are large. Very friendly place. We enjoyed the food. Definitely would go back if we are in the area. read more

Great breakfast! Only on the weekends. I love quaint places and this fits the bill, as well as having a great view and very good service. We'll absolutely return for dinner. Possibly even drinks watching the sunset over the harbor. Great views. read more

We were looking for a nice place on the water to bring our dog out and enjoy lunch, and The Point exceeded our expectations! The service was amazing. Starting off with greeting our dog with a bowl of iced water and treats, seating us quickly, and just being so warm and welcoming! We had fried clams for an app, and I got the fish tacos (which was a special). So FRESH and delicious. Probably the best food I've ever had. Even my boyfriend said his turkey BLT was not just your ordinary BLT! Highly recommend!! (And I never write reviews, but I felt I needed to since they were so deserving of one!) read more

What a great restaurant! The owner was very friendly and thoughtful, she even offered my group blankets to stay warm while enjoying a cool night out on the upper deck watching the ocean. The food, drinks and the service were outstanding. Our table of 4 enjoyed the superb lobster roll, which we will be back for ASAP, the fish tacos with pineapple salsa (YUM!), the mediterranean casserole custom made with haddock and shrimp, plus a round of Coo Coo Juice. This is based off of two visits. The fish tacos, onions, clam strips and wings are great. Haddock sandwich and fries, not so much. Clam chowder was pretty good. Service was great the first time, but I think they were short staffed on the second trip. Go before 1:00 for lunch or before 5:00 for an early dinner, unless you mind waiting a bit for a table. The Buffalo wings definitely bring some heat, the honey bbq was a little sweet and sugary for my taste. The first visit was 5 stars (great service, fish tacos, Buffalo wings, clam strips) and the second visit was 3 stars (less great service, bbq wings, haddock sandwich, clam chowder and fish tacos). Drove 40 minutes and purposely got there very early so we could get a seat on the deck. They don't take any reservations, so when we got there they took our name and we waited for 30 minutes for a table on the deck. When they called our name they said oh another party just walked up there and took your seat. So we said we have been waiting and they said they couldn't do anything about it...REALLY? So we had to sit near the parking lot... the whole reason we came was to sit on the deck! Food overall was average, the chowder was good & creamy, the stuffed clam was soggy with hardly any bits of clams. The clam & scallop entrée plate was too oily and with more fries than anything. The fish tacos had lots of toppings and the fish was crispy and tasty. The service was really slow and our waitress was so unfriendly, not a smile ONCE. Really it seemed like she was annoyed just to be working there. We will not return... There are many other seafood restaurants on the south shore with better food and service. read more

Just had a great meal at the point. Several apps and several different entrees. Sitting outside is preferable bc the inside can be a bit cramped. This is a fine example of a waterside restaurant in a marina w great seafood, good burgers, and generous drinks. Casual and lively. I had The Point Haddock and it was great. Lovely staff. The food is excellent, the building itself is lovely. It is in a great spot on the town pier. Because it is a nice place right on the water it can be busy and waiting for a table can take 30 minutes. I love their bar area on the second floor and their outside seating. The bar area has great ocean breezes. I would give them 5 stars but their prices are too high, especially with their alcohol. read more

my boyfriend and I came here based off of a recommendation. we put in our name for outside around 2:10 and we were told that the wait was about 25-30 minutes- no problem. around 3:10 we were wondering about how much longer the wait was- we had been standing out front in plain sight the whole time. the hostess let us know that she had tried to call us and we informed her that we didn't get a call (as I said, we were in plain sight the whole time) and she said that was no problem and she would move us to be up next. she then proceeded to seat multiple large groups after she said we'd be up next. someone else approached the hostess and said they'd been waiting an hour and fifteen minutes and the hostess said she tried to call them as well. clearly their phone isn't working if multiple people aren't getting their calls. she immediately was able to offer them a seat, but still not us. they had a dog so they couldn't sit on the upper deck so they decided to cancel after waiting so long. they still didn't offer the upper deck seat to us at this point. at 3:30 we again questioned the status of our seat and someone else that works here overheard our seating issue and miraculously they were able to seat us right away. this is the worst service I have ever seen from TWO hostesses working together to get people seated. we definitely will not be back based off of that experience alone- are we invisible ?? we were basically the only ones waiting at that time. read more

We have been to this Lovely gem of a restaurant only twice. First time was a beautiful day and we sat outside on the rooftop dining deck, our view of the Marina was peaceful. It was a busy day there and our waitress was on point and happy. The second time was today, an extraordinarily busy day for them because of Marshfield's 1st annual Lobster Fest, The food, drinks and great service from the rooftop waitresses, bartenders and crew. read more

After receiving terrible service at another restaurant it was a breath of fresh air to visit The Point their food was excellent but best of all their service was impeccable that people were very very personable especially Debbie she was our server she was amazing food was just as amazing we wish we were from this area we would make it our regular spot can't wait to visit again in the future highly recommend this place. read more
