Terrible restaurant. This place should have their whole front staff changed. We called and they said they do not take reservations but only for large parties. We are a large party so they gave us a reservation for 10 people at 7 INSIDE. We confirmed the reservation and headed to the restaurant. At 6:45 (we are already arrived) they call us and say they cannot seat us inside anymore mind you there is basically a hurricane outside. I speak to the hostesses who say they were not expecting us to actually show up. It's almost as though we made a reservation? They said we could sit outside (again raining) because they gave away all the tables inside. Would not recommend. read more

To start off - beautiful location, drinks were simple and strong, has so much potential! Unfortunately our experience was tainted by waiting 1 hour for our food to come out. Instead of apologizing, our waitress let us know that this is because we had ordered steak tips (cooked medium) and that these "take longer" to cook which is simply untrue. The food was cold when it hit the table but at this point we were so hungry that we just ate it. A genuine apology, offer to comp something on our bill would have remedied the situation but instead our waitress placed the blame on us. Other tables around us also appeared frustrated with the wait for food as well. My friends and I stopped here after going to Duxbury beach. We sat on the rooftop. It was very hot out but the roof deck was breezy. Unfortunately, it was too breezy that the staff had to close our umbrella since they had one fly into the parking lot below. Just wear sunscreen and you should be okay! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. For food, I ordered the lobster roll with Cole slaw. My boyfriend got the grilled cheese and chicken Caesar wrap. He is allergic to shellfish and doesn't like fish so he opted for those. My friends got the bacon wrapped scallops, clam basket, haddock/clam plate and the special which was haddock fish tacos. My friend added the avocado and the pineapple salsa on the tacos as well with broccoli on the side. Overall, the food was good. It took about 25 minute wait - not too bad with the crowd there. My lobster roll was STUFFED. I wish the lobster meat was sweeter or was tossed in some light mayo but with the amount of lobster on the roll, some salt, pepper and lemon did the trick. The Cole slaw was good. Crunchy, not too creamy. My friends enjoyed their meals as well and said it was well priced for the amount of food and for the location. I love the location and I love that they have outside seating and I was super excited to try it. We sat outside, I had a wine (ok I ended up having 2 glasses of wine) but when I noticed they were $9 each....ouch. That's a normal price for a semi upscale place but not for this kind of place, I feel it's over priced. I got the Fish Reuben which was ok. It definitely needed more flavor. My husband got fish and chips which again was just ok. All's this place needs is a little bit more seasoning to their food. I will definitely go back as I enjoyed sitting outside I will try another dish and I'll ask for salt to enhance the flavor if needed! Hey this place is fairly new so I'll definitely give it another try and YES I will get a glass of wine or two! I'm a two glass kind of girl. Maybe they offer a house version of wine for $6. Always happy to be able to eat at The Point when we're visiting family in Marshfield!! We were a large group of 9 and knew we would have a wait on a Saturday early evening but staff and visitors alike were friendly and polite. View: Across lot is the ocean with docked boats, very relaxing on the deck Inside: Very clean though a little tight for me with tables upstairs in the bar area very tight. Patio is where you want to be with a good size for the size of the building and perfect for bite to eat and drinks. Staff: Sat at the bar, staff was nice and friendly. Food: Didn't eat here but saw some Prime Rib being delivered and asked the guy after he ate and said it was perfect! Overall: Great for drinks but will need to do a full meal to give a better overall rating. The patio area is nice though if you want to sit outside for drinks on a Sunday Funday. read more

A friend recommended this place. Strolled up to hostess outside on a beautiful Sat night. Table for 4. Waited prob 1/2 hr but got a nice table outside and had a drink. Service was quick. The outdoor seating wait was a tad longer so we decided to sit indoors . Ordered Calamari and chicken wings as apps. The calamari was without a doubt the best I've had, and I'm 62 years old. A tender and freshly battered squid that was to die for. The wings were huge , drenched in the honey Bar BQ sauce.... I strongly recommend wet naps . The clam chowder was creamy and super tasty. Our waitress Kate was awesome. Super helpful and extremely attentive. Our entrees were the fried clam and scallop plate which was super fresh with a light crispy batter.Onion rings were the same. The Fish Reuben sandwich on marble bread was also tasty with coleslaw in place of sauerkraut. Fish and chips was as good as all the others. We went at the end of August. Food was mediocre at best...basic broiled schrod was a bit tough and the beer ( bottles only) wasn't very cold. But the worst was the service, which was sub- par at best. The high school age girls at the hostess desk were more interested in their phones....one ( who, when I inquired was off duty) literally stood with her back to us talking to the hostess as we waited. The waitress, an older woman wasn't overly friendly...definitely had her " regulars" that got priority treatment. Would not recommend. read more

We got to The Point just as the dinner rush was starting and were told there'd be a 45-minute wait. Perfect! That meant we could sit in their waiting area, which is just an outdoor cocktail lounge with snappy, friendly service. After a cold drink we were promptly seated and continued to indulge with stuffed clams (on point), baked scallops and fish tacos. Pro tip: add on the pineapple salsa. It's fresher than the catch of the day. This place was the highlight of the day, especially their outdoor seating/view. We had such a grand time watching the busy harbor, the sunset and of course the local kids trying to knock seagulls off cars with rocks. 5 star! read more

Visited The Point for the first time on a recent Saturday night. It was a gorgeous late June day and It was mobbed from top to bottom, yet the staff was incredibly friendly. We both had lobster roll. It had a decent amount of flavorless meat, however, no amount of lobster can make up for the fact that it was overcooked and bone dry as if they reheated it in the microwave (ugh). For the price, an absolute failure and no comparison to Green Harbor Lobster Pound. The hand cut fries on the side were soggy and unimpressive. If your going to serve hand cut fries, then cook them as they are supposed to be - cut, soaked in cold water, dried, low temp oil blanch, air dried, then a final deep fry. My sister ordered the fish ruben which was alright but she wouldn't order it again. The basic fish sandwich is far better. On the good side, the onion rings were perfect. read more
