I didn't have many expectations coming in because I was thinking it was just a regular pizza place. I decided to build my own pizza because Yelpers seemed to recommend that option. The workers there are so sweet, and they do not hesitate in giving you more of whatever topping you feel like wasn't enough. You can put on as many toppings as you want and all their ingredients are fresh! They have so many options to choose from. A pizza cook today at around noon told me the oven tends to burn mushrooms and as a hack to place them under sausage. I thought that was so cool and really nice and smart of him to know and say that. All the employees are constantly super nice, one time I got locked out of my apartment and a different cook gave me a free cookie to make my day better. I was thrilled to see that plant-based (vegan) cheese was offered! However, I was VERY disappointed that it cost an EXTRA $1. Mod Pizza does NOT have an up-charge for their plant-based (vegan) pizza. In fact, they even have plant-based sausage crumbles and vegan cheese for the SAME price as any other regular pizza. So why is it different here? Most minorities are lactose-intolerant, and cheese made with cow's milk leads to poor health (linked to obesity, diabetes, cancer), is bad for the environment, and involves stealing milk meant for a baby calf. The pizza was reasonably tasty and the staff was helpful (though, they did seem short-staffed). My rating would have been higher, but for the upcharge for choosing an option (plant-based cheese) that is better for the environment, better for health, and better for the animals. I encourage you to serve more plant-based options and toppings at the same price as the other options. read more

A delicious find! I ordered this place on door dash one night when I was craving some pizza. Sadly, pizza is not a frequent occurrence in my life due to allergies. I can't eat gluten, dairy or tomatoes so it's pretty hard to find a decent pizza that accommodates that. Luckily, I found it here! At Pizza Press, you can build--or they would say "publish"--your own pizza! I did one with an olive oil base, vegan cheese and gluten free crust. Added pepperoni, arugula and a balsamic glaze and it was super yummy. The balsamic glaze was a tad too sweet but all in all, I was satisfied. They also offer a gluten free AND/OR vegan version of the garlic cheesy bread. For vegan cheese, it is pretty dang good. I'm still waiting for the day someone makes a non-crispy, chewier and thicker gf crust but their crust is nothing bad at all. I enjoyed it a lot, as did my normal-diet friends. The only reason I withheld a star is because the second time I ordered the same thing, the garlic cheesy bread was a bit subpar and not the same as before. More well known in California, Pizza Press is finally here in Austin! I absolutely love the concept of a "chipotle-esque" style of choosing your cheese type, meats, and awesome veggies for their delicious pizza. Their ingredients are top notch and it's super flexible with the "Build Your Own" option for only $8.75! I think the star of this place is actually at the very end of the line. The options for sauces and add-ons takes this pizza joint to the next level. Rosemary, thyme, olive oil...you name it, they got whatever flavors you could want! It's truly a unique experience you cannot get at any other pizza joint and especially at this cost (watch out Austin's Pizza, your business is about to plummet). They have many awesome beers on tap (would recommend the Lagunitas) and have some beautiful outside seating in the back. They also serve their pizzas on Pizza Peels which I thought was kinda interesting. The pizza here is always so good, but the service is pretty inconsistent. Sometimes they'll load your pizza up with all the toppings you asked for, and other times they'll skimp on everything (sauce and toppings) leaving you to ask for more of everything - even when it's not busy. This last time I went, the girl behind the counter barely coated my pizza with sauce, so it ended up being kind of dry and mildly disappointing. I came for lunch with some friends around 12:15 on a weekday and there was no line. The pizzas are a good size for one person and half pizzas are also offered. The choice of toppings is very broad and unlimited in a build your own pizza. It includes pre and post bake toppings. They have glass bottles of Topo chico for sale and a soda fountain. The restaurant is newspaper themed which is cute. I would have preferred to sit outside because of the covid level however their yard has no shade. read more

Ordering is simple: you can choose from one of their pizza/salad creations or you can make your own by selecting a combination of the toppings that you see in front of you. Having lived a block away from Pizza Press for the past year, I have been here quite a few times. This is a pretty standard build-your-own pizza place with a cute newspaper style twist. I've been to other pizza places similar to this one such as Pie Five and Blaze Pizza, and I would say that they all rank pretty similarly in terms of taste however Pizza Press knocks the others out of the park when it comes to aesthetics. The whole place is meticulously decorated like an old-timey printing press complete with a typewriter, with the pizzas even being named after different newspapers. In terms of the pizza, it can be a hit or miss situation depending on who makes the pizza. Often times when I come here, they often put either too much cheese or too little, and sometimes the toppings are all concentrated on one side of the pizza. Other than that, the pizza isn't that greasy which I find to be a plus as I don't feel as bloated after eating it. They also have cute little pizza boxes that you can use to take your pizzas to go. Overall this is a nice place to go when you're craving pizza, however I think that if it wasn't for the proximity to where I live I wouldn't go out of my way to come here often. read more

So I decided to check this place out because I work not to far from it (ex: walking distance). This place specializes in pizza that you can customize and that is cooked quickly (estimate cook time - 4 minutes). The pizza is thin so deep-dish lovers or thick crust-fans be aware. The only issue that I had with the pizza was the the lack of salt in the crust itself. I don't mind thin-crust but I felt that it lacked flavor. They have 5 "steps" (base, cheese, meats, veggies, and finishers) to help you get through the entire aisle of toppings/selections easier. It may look a little overwhelming when you see how many options they have, but the workers are always very helpful and walk you through how to get your pizza made! They have a good amount of seating for the size of the place and you get through the line in ~5-8 minutes which is pretty good. I have been waiting for this place to open up for months since I first saw the sign go up. Pizza Press is a pretty popular joint in California, and it's cool to see they're expanding to Texas. It's a build your own pizza style similar to Blaze or Mods. The toppings are great and the crust had a nice crunch. In my opinion, the crust holds up better and is more crispier than Mods. However, I think Mods has a better selection of toppings. Also they don't use a wood burning oven to cook the pies. Try it with some arugula and balsamic glaze on top! You won't regret it. The interior has a vintage feel and there's a nice patio out back. Parking is scared though, so you might want to walk here. My pizza was free because it was actually their grand opening!!
