That's back-to-back meals at "The ____ Spot." And it somehow wasn't all that bad. The Pho Spot has taken over the former space of the surprisingly long-lived Bibim Kitchen and turned it into another all-purpose Vietnamese eatery. I decided to stop by on essentially a whim and was rewarded with a small discount off the dish I was going to order anyway. You see, they're running a limited-time summer promo on certain dishes, one of which is their build your own pho. It's normally $16.75 but can be had for $14.99 currently, which is actually a steal in the current market for some reason. Also, the bowl came out in a proper amount of time, which is to say very quickly. That means they do have a huge vat of pho stock simmering in the back, so they can just assemble, pour, and serve. Sipping on the liquid, I didn't really get a full blast of all the pho spices, but it least it was quite savory. The meats of my choice were the rare steak, brisket, and flank, and all were thinly sliced, tender, and flavorful. The noodles were standard stuff, the regular and green onions nicely diced, and cilantro was included by default, which I appreciated because I am not a mutant. The Thai basil on the side was decent, while the limes were very juicy and in a large 3 wedge portion, allowing me to use plenty for my complimentary iced water. The decor is fine, although parts of it feel like an office/professional space rather than a restaurant. The music is pretty safe-sounding popular Vietnamese language stuff, which for some reason always seems a few decades older than the rest of the world's pop. Service was actually quite good, which by the long-established Vietnamese restaurant standard is not completely ignoring you after your food is presented. None of the pho in Vegas is great, but at least The Pho Spot is good enough, offered at a better price than others, and located in Henderson which is much more convenient for folks like me who live there. I've ordered twice from here the first time I got bbh and it was good. Yesterday I got combo pho and spring rolls. I was disappointed in the broth for the pho so I basically barely ate my noodles. I've stopped in for Spring rolls before but this time I decided to try the Pho along with my Spring rolls. I ordered the original Pho with 3 proteins - rare steak, flank and brisket. All were good. However next time I'll ask to see if I can get 3 servings of rare steak. It had a savory broth, noodles and great accompaniments of bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeno, lime, and cilantro. The flavorful beef tenderloin and the garlic rice were a perfect combo. Traveling in from Phoenix, and stopped by here for dinner. The restaurant is kind of tucked away in a corner next to Trader Joe's at the end of the plaza. The inside is pretty large, and I felt there was a lot of bright light that helped with the overall vibe. The pho can definitely feed me for two meals, and it does seem like they're shareable sizes. I got the combination pho, and I liked how hearty the broth was. It was a hefty portion for me, and being a certified soup lover, I was allllll in. I also got their spring rolls and the fried egg rolls, and I recommend either of them. Personally I'm a fan of the fried ones, but the spring was also really yummy! Ordered the combination pho and it was very good.Soup was nice, meat quality was surprisingly good, even though the beef pieces looked small. If I could give zero stars I would. We arrived during normal business hours and were seated at a table in the restaurant. Soon after another worker approached our table and asked if we were dining in or getting takeout. Feeling confused and thinking - isn't it obvious since we're already seated inside?? - We answered with "dine in", and the worker told us to get takeout, more like a command and the only available option. For real? Ummm, the main reason for dining in is to enjoy our pho served piping hot and fresh in a large bowl, not to bring it home in takeout containers only to have to reheat the soup and use our own bowls. It's just not the same experience. The business closes at 9pm - we arrived just before 8:30pm - more than half an hour before closing. Telling a customer to take their food to go after having already been seated felt jarring and unwelcoming. This is definitely poor customer service and left a negative impression. Our first and last time going here. There are so many other restaurants in the area to spend our hard earned money. I'm all for supporting local mom and pop joints, but forget about this place. Never again. If a restaurant wants to stop table service before closing, it is better practice to post a "Last Seating" time (e.g., 8:30 PM) or to inform the customer BEFORE they are SEATED that only to-go orders are available. What a way to lose new customers, and it's such a shame since this place is down the street from our neighborhood. read more

Last night we decided to give this place a try we were debating from going here and Pho 95. This place was closer to us from where we were. My son ordered his favorite egg rolls for the first time experience at this new place. He ate one egg roll and kept telling me that there was a bad smell and funky taste to it. So being a concern mom I ripped one open and the meat was dark colored and smell really bad. I tasted it and spit out real quick it was rotten meat. I waived down the server and told her about my concern on this rotten dish. I also told her to try it if she doesn't believe me. She went to get a scissor and cut a piece of the new egg roll and tried it spit it back out onto a napkin so fast. Kept coming back and saying "I don't what happen to that bag of meat and I told the back kitchen people". She even agreed with me that it was bad meat. My son wrote a review yesterday to inform the management of his experience and to get a response from them saying that it didn't happen that way was ridiculous. I am offended and it seems to me that he was so called a liar. We are merely writing our honest dining experience as this is what Yelp is for.
