I'm really stoked for this spot--they're right down the road essentially, it's really nice inside (according to my partner; we got takeout and they were the one to pick it up). There's been some guff about the menu size, but I like a simplified menu--I'm not enthusiastic if there are too many pages or entree numbers that go from 1 to 111. My partner ordered the #4 Beef Pho (rare steak and meatballs) and I ordered the #2 Beef Pho (rare steak and flank). Both 'Smalls'. The rare steak and flank were sliced razor thin! Seriously melt in your mouth! The meatballs were delicious and the appropriate portion as well. And the broth?? Oh dang. Layers of flavor, bright, warming. I'm in! We also snagged some shrimp rolls. Tried this place after work and with my wife's suggestion seeing she has been there before with a friend. To be honest, I'm not a lover of pho. Give me a bowl of Japanese ramen any day! So I do have my "go to" place whenever I crave Vietnamese soup so this was my way to try out somewhere different. To me, not a lot of soup to choose from but then again, I don't like to eat a lot of weird stuff thats sometimes put in pho anyways. I got the large pho 2 which is two types of meat (beef) with rice noodle. I prefer egg noodle so that already was something I didn't like not having that choice. Bowl was huge with lots of meat and lots of egg noodle. I usually add a lot of sriracha and hoisin sauce as well as bean sprouts. The broth had a dark rich color and wasn't bad. It was decent but nothing to rave about. (3.5 stars) We also got a side of shrimp egg enroll which I was totally disappointed with. It was 3 pieces served with sweet and sour sauce. I was expecting an actual shrimp in the egg roll with the tail sticking out but instead it looked like either I got the wrong order or they smash the shrimp with other meats like pork and put it in a wrap. Out of the 3 egg rolls, I ate one as well as my wife. The 3rd I took a bite to try to finish it but I didn't like it enough to put it in my stomach (2 stars) To be honest, I tried the place and I don't see myself coming back. I got my order doordashed and was very impressed with the packaging, they provide separate bowls instead of styrofoam containers like most restaurants. I ordered the #1, pho combo and an avocado shake. Avocado shake is 4/5, could be sweeter but overall really good. The pho is a 1/5for me. It is ALLLLL OIL!!!! I was gifted a dinner from this place and EVERYTHING was good. We had a plate of teriyaki chicken, rice, and a nice refreshing salad. It was so bomb! Flavors on point. Food: The filet mignon seems exaggerated. The meat is good, but definitely no better than the typical roast/round that is used in most pho places. The spring rolls are delicious especially if you love pickled carrots. I do not love them, so I took them out, but I could see how others would like them. Food is tasty and fresh. Service/Location: I ate at this location 3x's. No real issues the first two times, the third time though is the charm. There is a gentleman (who was not my server) that works here that I was not too fond of. I ordered a #5 which is just steak and noodles and it had pieces of crab in it. I am VERY picky and dislike seafood, I took it out and told the gentleman. The gentleman touched it with his hands squished it and apologized, confirming it was crab. Not very sanitary because I just pulled it out of my broth. He proceeded to yell at his kitchen, but didn't offer a replacement. I thought not a big deal, then I found another piece. I told my waitress, not this gentlemen this time, that I wanted another bowl. It was replaced but that should have been done the first time. He was very loud throughout this experience even before his interaction with me, usually I don't prefer yelling while I am eating. I go to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and know their language is loud, I just got a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively from this experience. This is my main reason for removing a star. Bathroom: The bathrooms are individual and have no paper towels. This makes it difficult to leave the bathroom without touching anything. This is my main reason I have removed another star from this review, I had to use a napkin from the table and bring it into the bathroom. Summary: The photo posted below is for the location in Stockton. The food was very similar/consistent in every location that I tried (March lane, Dale Rd. and Oakdale Rd.). This is obviously not including the time I got imitation crab in my meal. If you're looking for somewhere quick/cheap that you know what you are getting on this side of town, I'd recommend this place. For an alternative, I enjoy broth more at Pho #7 off carver more. The one star is because there are no options for zero stars. We walked in for lunch yesterday to a completely empty restaurant and only one worker up front. We waited to be seated as the sign told us to and the girl who worked there didn't even so much as glance in our direction. She grabbed a couple menus and threw em on a table and walked away without saying anything. My husband was carrying our baby so as she was walking away I asked if we could get a high chair, to which she replied by ignoring us again and putting an ear bud in her ear. We walked right out. You can tell they get irritated when you seat yourself, so just don't do it. Ambiance is nice. Perfect spot for a date night where you can actually talk and hear your partner. I usually get their pork spring rolls(10 stars) but today I had to give them 4 stars due to the consistency of the noodles. I honestly enjoyed this place so much every time I come in & all the workers are so nice. We then have to flag the server to take our order because no one came. Overall, the service was below average. The beef was tender and the broth was perfect! We ordered the spring rolls which were on the smaller side. I asked the server if they can add pork and flat out said "no" even though they had a pork spring roll, I wanted shrimp and pork. Okay, no worries. The server took our order and left. Our food came fairly quickly, (still no drinks). Halfway through our meal, I needed to drink something so I got up and asked the server, if we can get our drinks (a canned coke and a coconut smoothie). After I asked, the server said it's going to be a minuete I need to get everyone else's drinks first (?).... Uhhh okay. The food was good, the service was just not it. Growing up eating pho, we throw down, and their large portion sizing (I think to fit the white demographic) is small--something my family would serve to a small child in my household. Wait times: Multiple times they'd quote me a time on the phone (let's say 15 minutes), and I end up waiting nearly 40+ minutes at the restaurant.
