Shaking Beef Rice Plate
Nobuyuki S.

I've had good VietNamese food in Philadelphia and San Jose. I even had some good VietNamese food here but that restaurant is gone. I've known about this place since it opened. It sounded a bit too expensive and I didn't think that it would be good enough. Two or so years later, I tried it and I wouldn't return. I looked for the Com Dia section but there was not much. I ordered the Com Bo Luc Lac and Iced Tea. The server brought Thai Tea. I should have said Tra, so she would known that I didn't mean Tra Thai. In just a little bit more, the rice dish arrived. Oh, and I had to ask for chopsticks. I know that they wouldn't want to leave them at the table because someone would take them all, but still, it's inconvenient to ask. It looked appealing, but the chewy meat had me working toward a migraine headache. It had some sweet sauce, which I don't remember being a part of this dish, much like the Banh Mi from the other place I tried recently. The rice was the best part of the meal. It came to $23.36, which is bad for the portion and the quality of the beef.

Service here was excellent. The young ladies were very helpful of all my questions. The place is a good size the ambiance is just warming and cFood is good. I would recommend this place. Food is good. Surprise they are only 3 Stars. The only thing I wish they had was fresh fruit on the boba or slushes they make.

Super cold outside so a good soup sounded appealing. Decided to try this spot to see what it's all about. Clean and bright when you walk in, quickly greeted and seated. I ordered pho with no meat (kept the beef broth, just wasn't feeling anything too heavy today). Also ordered the potstickers. The pho hit the spot for me and I'm more than full. The potstickers were a little on the oily side for me. Not sure I'd order them again, but the flavor was there. Once you finish, you pay up at the counter.

Wanted a Vietnamese sandwich fix and had to try out this location since I've tried a few other locations in the Manteca area. It was good and I did finish it all for one meal. Normally I eat half and it did look bigger than most but I don't know if I will return for the sandwich again unless the other locations are closed. They are in a convenient popular location on a main road near a bunch of other stores and restaurants with tons of parking. The space inside is spacious and a great setting for family and friends to enjoy a meal....not a first date place but definitely for couples that have been together for awhile. There was a very pricey item on the menu and the employee said it was a popular dish but I don't recall seeing it on yelp yet. I'm not a pho soup fan but if I ever find someone that is and willing to pay that much I'll post more about it but I really came for a sandwich anyways Price was reasonable as well as the wait time...I took to go

This place has a delicious short rib (kalbi) dish. It is so delicious that even though my family was craving Pho and ordered Pho, we still order a plate of this. This dish does come as an individual serving and not like a family style dish so the two of us have to fight for the meat. Next time we may need to just get our own plates in addition to our own Pho! I also like their Vermicelli Bowl with egg rolls. The egg rolls are fried nicely to a crisp and the inside of them are filled nicely! This is my favorite item for takeout. They gave me a peanut sauce too in addition the fish sauce. This was a first and it was eye opening in a good way! The service is nice too! The servers were always helpful whenever we had to ask for additional water, bowls to share with the kids, and anything else. To pay, you just go up to the registers. The restaurant is nice and newly remodeled. They also have a crane game

The first time I've tried the Pho, it was in the Stockton location. I didn't like it because I thought it was overpriced and the broth was bland. Then I came here to the Manteca location and it made me think differently. The broth is very well. Today I had the Bun Bo Hue and it was not that bad. Service is nice and tidy. Very friendly servers and the decor is nice. Very authentically Vietnamese inspired design. I prefer location more over the Stockton location. Great job!

Cross section (Banh mi nguoi)

I really wanted to the The Pho because I can definitely see the potential of this restaurant that opened mid 2023. Manteca actually has a ton of Vietnamese options so there is plenty of competition. I thought overall the food was decent. The service is pretty good and the interior of the restaurant is actually pretty well done. I like the little claw game machine that they have inside too. What my table ordered: - The Pho special combo appetizer ($12) - Cold cut combo (Banh mi nguoi) $9 The Pho special combo appetizer came with spring rolls, egg rolls, and fried shrimp rolls. I thought the egg rolls were solid, but wish there was an option for fish sauce although sweet and sour works too. The spring roll left a bit to be desired. The shrimp was a little rubbery and there wasn't enough veggies inside for my taste. I ordered the Bahn Mi with the cold cuts and the bread was good and had a flakey crust. I did feel they sort of skimped out on cucumbers and the carrot/radish. I wish there was a little more cold cuts too because I've had some at other places that had a larger portion. I also tried the pork variation, but the marinade for the pork tasted very peanuty and almost a bit too sweet. Also the basket that held my sandwich had a dead gnat on it, but luckily there was paper covering it...Oh well, can't always control nature. The Pho was a bit of a mixed bag especially with the food, but it's hard to fully judge without even trying their Pho which is their specialty. It's definitely worth giving it a 2nd shot to explore their menu fully. I would say it's still not a bad spot and it's still worth a 1st visit.

Pho #1

Ordered Pho from Uber eats and whoever packed my order didn't put any bean sprouts, cilantro, etc for sides for pho. Small portion too. This is my 2nd time ordering and continue to make mistakes. So disappointing.

Great Phö but everything else is just average and pricing is a little on the high side. Nice atmosphere. Comfortable seating.

My wife and I stopped in after our jog along the Tidewater Biketrail, making this our lunch pit stop after starting at Lathrop Road. The Char Siu Pork Bánh Mì is an easy 5/5. The baguette was fresh, crispy on the outside, and soft and chewy inside. The char siu pork was tender, juicy, and perfectly caramelized around the edges. Crisp pickled carrots and daikon, plenty of cilantro, and fresh jalapeños brought everything together. It's a well-balanced sandwich with a portion that's just right. The Grilled Chicken Roll'd deserves more attention. The grilled chicken reminded me of a flavorful chicken satay, and the peanut sauce complemented every bite without overpowering the fresh ingredients. If you're looking for a lighter, protein-packed option, this is it. They also offered complimentary strawberry and passion fruit refreshers. They were a little sweeter than my preference, but the flavors were refreshing. Next time, I'd order one at 50% sweetness. The restaurant is clean, inviting, and a welcome escape from the Central Valley heat. Service has always been friendly, and it's the kind of place where both the staff and regulars make you feel welcome. There's also a Tracy location, but I find myself coming back to the Manteca restaurant. It's smaller, more intimate, and has a charm all its own. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Great food, great people, and a relaxed atmosphere. I always say, good food brings out the best in people. The regular staff is generally very welcoming. On the evening of 10/22, a young girl was at the counter. When we entered the restaurant, there was still 20 minutes to closing and the restaurant itself was 80% full. There was a vacant table but it needed to be cleaned. We told the girl at the counter that we are looking for a table for three. She marched to us stating that orders now are to go only and refused to sit us. No explanation, no apology just a plain statement: " to go only". I would understand if the restaurant would be closing for the day but that wasn't the case. There were lots of families enjoying their dinner but unfortunately no table was available for my family :( I was appalled and humiliated by this experience and won't be coming back. Even the best food can be spoiled but terrible manners and completely incompetent staff. This is not a way to run a business and a sure way to loose a loyal customer!

For lunch, I ordered the following: - Combination Plate B: Pork Fried Rice, Vegetable Chow Mein and Sweet & Sour Chicken ($11.95) - Hot & Sour Soup ($9.95) I must say that the food was super filling and tasty. The soup was executed with perfection and the entire plate was delicious, especially the Chow Mein. The food was still piping hot when I was settled to eat. What stood out to me in this visit was interacting with the restaurant owner, Sancha Lee. She was the sweetest woman, complimenting the clothes I was wearing too! She informed me that the restaurant used to be a dine-in format, but now, it's only takeout because it's just her and her sister running the small business. I was so glad that I was supporting this restaurant. Because of the amazing, affordable prices and yummy Chinese food, I highly recommend stopping by. Whenever I'm visiting Manteca, I'll have to come by again.

For me this place is a 3/5. I ordered the general chicken and orange chicken. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I came maybe about 10 min later. Got the food and tasted it soon after I got to my car. Orange chicken lacking in that orange pop. General chicken lacking in overall flavor. What was the most unforgivable though was the soggy chicken. Eating at its optimal level would be eating it fresh at the table at the restaurant. Next best thing would be in the car as soon as you got it. But it's a to-go restaurant to realistically your eating it at home after it's traveled for however many minutes. As expected when I got home it was soggy. But it was already as soggy as possible to begin with. Why is this place a 4/5 I have no idea. Maybe since I came during off peak hours so they foods just sitting around and there's no fresh food turnover? No idea. Maybe I'll give them another chance one day but who knows. Also factor in that they don't have rice plates and the cost of pure entrees alone and that's a negative for me. I didn't know how lacking Chinese food was in Manteca because I was spoiled by the old Kitty's Kitchen. Nothing compares in the area.
