This place can be summed up by saying "the food is good and the beer is cold." Typical bar food in a fun atmosphere. Everyone should try the wings, but don't expect anything magical to happen. They're good wings but won't change your life. This area of Olathe was waiting for a place with higher quality food than its neighboring competitor. I frequented the Peanut on Metcalf for a long time, and was so excited when I heard one was being built 5 minutes from my house in Olathe. The food was awesome there, and it's the same way here. Wings are fabulous.......large, crispy, moist and the right amount of heat in the sauce. Triple bacon BLT is probably my favorite non-bbq'ed sandwich in KC. Nachos are loaded to the gills like nachos should be. New digs in Olathe is clean, well-lit, and plenty of friendly staff. Lots of TVs in plenty of locations throughout the restaurant so you can easily watch your favorite sports team. The one down side is the entrance. You enter the Peanut right by where people are sitting at the bar. When it's busy (which it has been almost non-stop) that gets a bit uncomfortable for those sitting at the bar and for those waiting to get seated. Glad to have this iconic KC restaurant so close to my house. Probably won't take long to be on a first name basis with everyone there. read more

My husband and I stopped by for lunch last Saturday. We had such a wonderful time we went back again on Sunday! The food and atmosphere is amazing. Paige waited on us both days and made us feel so welcome. She was so sweet and took exceptional care of us. We can't wait to go back and try something different !! Great new addition to South Olathe! They opened a few weeks ago and our service was excellent. Stopped in for Sunday brunch (not officially rolled out yet...only a few options available for now). Appetizer combo was huge. Didn't need to order a meal as well. But it was all good and leftovers reheated well. Music was a little loud for mid day but it is a deceptively large space. Lots of screens, probably a great place to watch the big game. Service was great an attentive. read more

The Peanut has been a regular hangout to watch the Chiefs games, and it never disappoints. Consistently the best wings and fries to enjoy while watching the game. The service is great and always friendly. My only critique, is I wish their was better game day specials. read more

This is quite the hangout! The staff is accommodating and friendly! The spiked cherry limeade was amazing! The buffalo wings are meaty and worth the extra time to get your order! We also had the chicken sandwich rubbed with seasoning. It was lightly breaded with crunchy slaw. So tasty! read more

I was over for lunch today. Meeting another couple. Food was predictably good, but one thing stood out. Despite their claim for community health, there was no social distancing. All the booths were open and the tables were so close together that you bumped some making your way out. Everyone one that I saw coming in was wearing masks, but some were not as they were leaving. We LOVE having The Peanut in Olathe! I've been going to their other locations since 1985. Olathe needed another option for outstanding food and service. The friendly staff feels more like family to us. The food is delicious and served quickly. We enjoy the daily specials, cold drinks, and appreciate being able to bring our family here for Brunch on Saturday and Sundays. Nice simple Brunch menu including: Delicious Biscuits and Gravy, and a VERY generous Breakfast Burrito. Of course their famous Wings and BLT's are wonderful! read more

TL;DR: very nice staff & ambiance; had to wait; order wrong; food cold and bland. Overall: Not great, but remediable. Likely to try in-person dining but not likely to do carry-out again. This location is open for indoor dining; we did order on-line carryout. We ordered meals for 3 adults and 1 toddler with 2 alcoholic beverages. We arrived at the restaurant at our scheduled pick-up time and had to wait about 20 minutes for our order to be ready. The wait was not bad as the interior is comfortable and the playoff game was on, but we were quite hungry. Our order was incorrect and all our food was lukewarm at best. We realized our drinks were missing as soon as we got to the car and were able to go back in and get those. However, when we got home (~5 minute drive), we found that one of our entrees was wrong (sadly for me, it was mine); the mac n cheese was missing the costs-extra add on. The chips that came with the wrap were the blandest thing any of us had every tasted; no salt or other flavor. My brother-in-law put a Red Robbin spice packet on them and that improved them considerably. The mozzarella sticks were "interesting." We have no idea what was in them, but it wasn't mozzarella cheese. Mozzarella cheese should be stringy when hot and solid when cold. This was a sort of mush consistency. The tater tots were decent, though would have been better hot. The toddler said the macaroni and cheese was ok, and I found it edible; again, it would have been better hot. We tried nuking it, but that messed with the consistency. The vegetable side of broccoli and carrots was good and reheated well, since that too was barely lukewarm. My sister greatly enjoyed her bacon & avocado salad, even though the included dressing was not what she had ordered. read more

I really like this place but beware of their pricing. Was thinking I was getting a $10 burger n tots and ended up being a $12 burger and $2.75 tots. My lunch was over $17 with tip. The burger was dry and had to ask for some A1 for a little flavor. Just feel a bit robbed. Should of stuck to their 3 wings for $10 which I swear use to be $8. Ok so it was my birthday today and I wanted a triple BLT and a half dozen wings naked with blue cheese and sauce on the side. My wife got a single BLT. Mind you, I LOVE THE PEANUT and have visited most of their locations. I brag about their BLT's and chicken wings to everyone. Online order and it was to be picked up at 6:21. We live 5 minutes from the location. Returned home at 6:30. BLT's were cold...not luke warm...cold. Bacon was flimsy. Chicken wings were not crispy. Tried to break the joint and had to bend it all the way before it broke. Put them in the oven for about 15 minutes and they were more easily disjointed but skin was soft. We have been to this location before and my wife kept saying it was not like the others. I didn't believe her but I am now on her side. Damn you Olathe Peanut!! That's okay...moving closer to the action once my boy graduates this May. read more

The Peanut is a go to me and my friends after work during the week. They have good happy hour beer specials and food as well. We always get the famous wings. This time I tried half Tyger (Asian zing) and half of their specialty buffalo sauce which i always get. I loved the tyger as well. We also split some loaded chicken nachos which were as good as they always are. The service was great and the only negative I could think of is that when we sat ourselves in the tables near the bar they weren't super clean. Not terrible but you could tell. Finally tried The Peanut a week ago and again yesterday. Overall I enjoy it and will continue to go back. The menu is small, but has a fair selection. Didn't try the "famous wings" yet. Had a pork tenderloin the first time. Was good, but don't know that I'll continue to order. The sweet potato fries are wonderful. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The fried pickles and chicken strips are really good. Had their breakfast yesterday. Biscuits are fluffy and sausage gravy is tasty. Will definitely continue to get breakfast. Yesterday our server got lost for a bit so we got another to take our order. Not something that would keep me from going back. read more
