Unbeknownst to me I was overcharged by over$20 and the barmaid fixed HER mistake after I had to return. Had I not glanced at my receipt I'd never known n I usually don't look at bill. Barmaid acted like she did me a favor, that's why I'm writing this. Just rude. No complaints on actual food and the chef was very understanding. The "Tumbleweed" had great food and service before the kitchen fire, but since it has reopened something is definitely off. Their Onion Rings,($9.00), used to be the best,even better than Sonic's ones,($5.39),but now I can tell they have changed brands because they are cunchy like chewing on tree bark and the taste is now bland. Even the taste is off on their burgers, like they have fillers instead of being 100% prime beef like they used to. I've been going to this place for well over 15 years. It's more than just a bar and grill to me and my family. It's like going home. This is a place full of regulars and much of the staff have been the same over the years. Relatively consistent in everything. Menu hasnt varied too much but here's an insider secret... you want it made different or with something extra... just have to ask. Once I had them make me a burger with bacon, eggs, peanut butter and a splash of sriracha. They have a board with specials and if you can grab a homemade slice of pie then you came a good night! read more

Went there for lunch. Decent place but definitely a bar. Bathroom smelled pretty bad. Broken mens room door and broken tile in the men's room. Ordered a BLT wrap and it was good, but nothing that's going to make me go back super soon. Homemade pub chips for a side. They were like steak fries in thickness. I thought they would be more "chip like" and be thinner and crunchy. Nope. Taste was good but then again I don't like steak fries. Service provided by a young lady probably in her early 20's or even late teens. Very nice and very attentive. Last thing - a patron was sitting at a table (finishing lunch I presume?) and I saw a dog laying at his feet. Not a service dog (at least there was no vest on the dog indicating as much) so it must've been his pet. I personally don't mind this but a LOT of people do. At the end of the day, we shouldn't bring our pets into restaurants. Management really needs to address this. Gardner isn't the little tiny town it used to be. Need to act like it. read more

Tried the Weed Classic burger w/fries and the Chicken Fried Steak Very pleased with both although the serving of fries seemed rather small. Everything was fresh, hot and very good. Depending on the night the service runs from fair to excellent. Recommend this place for a good time and good food. read more

It's definitely a bar. It was relatively clean and had the atmosphere you might expect. The service was high quality and the drinks were mixed well. The food was cooked decent but didn't have much flavor unfortunately. It was a little pricy for the quality. It definitely would be a fun place to go out with friends and play some pool, but I wouldn't go often because of the price unless the food improved. My sister is moving to town from Dallas so we made sure to stop in here because I'm sure it will be our new favorite place to frequent. It's exactly what I expected driving by, a locals bar, but everyone seemed pretty welcoming. The service and food were good, and we went back a second time while they were in town. Love this little dive. Awesome breakfast on the weekend. Biscuits n gravy are the best around. Burgers are great. My wife loved her chicken for lunch. Server's are quick and attentive. Fancy? My colleague and I decided to go to Tumbleweed for lunch. She mentioned that she used to work there as a kid. We originally wanted to go to another local restaurant, but couldn't find adequate parking so we went to Tumbleweed instead. Friendly place with a nice menu for lunch. I'm not sure what was going on that day, but the service was quite slow with a little mishap. We ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for lunch. My colleague ordered the Southwest Chicken Fried Steak which she mentioned was almost their signature dish. I ordered the Bullzerker. The waitress recommended the fried version over the grilled version. The fried Bullzerker with a side of pasta salad for $10.49 came out first but they made a mistake with my colleague's order as we waited an additional 10 minutes for them to finally bring out the CFS ($10.49). The food itself was good, service was not so good. This appears to be more of a "shot and a beer" type place than a business lunch hang. read more

I went here last Sunday for a late lunch. Dang, this place looks a lil sketchy, and walking in as an Asian American, all eyes were on me .. I'm not sure if there are Asians here or if i just looked weird.. Anyways, the food was good! Like a southern style kind of taste? And their prices are quite low. I believe my chicken fried steak was around $8? And then our whole bill for 4 people was about $40. Cheap and tasty. I did think my chicken fried steak had a little too much gravy, so it was a bit overkill on the gravy. This is one of those places you'd be sketched out to go in... We were there just before noon on a Saturday. It was kind of busy and we really didn't get a great waitress. I mean she apologized for sort of just leaving us hanging, but that sucks. We shared a small order of nachos and a burger. SHARE THE NACHOS because they are huge and really yummy. The burger was fine too. Honestly, it was good stuff, just painful service from our gal. Food is pretty good. I have had their salads and, more recently, a pretty good Rueben sandwich. The good quality and the servers are friendly. If you are doing a to-go order the kitchen seems to be consistently backed up. If you do a to-go order, just be prepared to wait a little longer than what they tell you on the phone. 5-10 mins tops. The good thing is you can have a beer at the bar while you wait! But, the food and service are good so we will continue to support the local business. read more

Cops come running through. A fight? No. Male cop. Female cop. Running toward the bathrooms. Drunk and disorderly patron? No. Girls smoking crack in the bathroom? Yes. To the credit of the great staff at the Tumbleweed: They took care of the problem... and quick. Also on the staff: friendly and efficient. This place seems to be where the younger crowd hangs out around the area. A DJ, karaoke, some dancing, pool tables all exist for your recreational desires. There is plenty of seating in the Weed, and the drink prices are incredible. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I have lived in Gardner for about 7 years and sadly never tried the Tumbleweed before. We went about midday on a Thursday and our experience was great. There was one waitress/bartender on duty and she was not only super attentive to us, but to everyone there. We had wings, which can be hit and miss at many places, but these were fresh and crispy and juicy! We also had the Rueben...I consider myself to be a Rueben snob and the Tumbleweed nails this sandwich! Lots of REAL sliced corned beef and the bread was buttery and toasted perfectly. There are things about this place that I like. I mean, I'm from G-town. This is where my townies like to hang. I can drink a cold domestic beer like nobody's business. Do I go to Tumbleweed for culinary delights? No. The food is fine, but not better than fine. Mostly it is Sysco and it is placed in a deep fryer - just what you would expect from a small town bar and grill. Did I eat on this visit? No, I was just there for the cold beer, which the waitress kept coming. Was I entertained on this visit? Absolutely. This time, like most, involved some drunk (DE-RUNK) WT brother and sister verbally sparring repeatedly with the brother's ex-wife. Awesome. Is this a regular occurrence? I think so, as I only visit about four times a year and this scene regularly repeats itself (maybe it's not a WT bro/sis act, maybe it's neighbors or former classmates, etc.) Will I go back? Sure. The place is entertaining, the beer is cold and I like to hang out with my Gardner friends. Tumbleweed is OK. read more

There's nothing like a non-franchise saloon in a small town. Love it! Dinner time is usually filled with families as well as bikers, dart players or pool shooters. The price is definately right and I've never had a bad steak with a really good price. Staff has always been friendly, although sometimes harried, but peak times can be like that anywhere. read more
