We were so surprised and happy to see a Whataburger in this little town. Disclaimer: a native Texan here who could live on their ketchup and fries. However I have been to locations which don't live up, here's my honest review of this one.
The food: tastes exactly like home. Fries here are crispy and thin and they were served hot and a generous serving. I always upgrade to large fries, dipping them in either their regular or spicy ketchup (which is very flavorful and not really spicy). They're known for their big burgers with fresh patties, very savory. Everything on it means lettuce, tomato and diced raw onions. The drinks were standard fountain choices, Coke products, and sweet/unsweet tea. A bonus to any ice eaters: they have the big soft pellet shaped ice that is like a bonus after the drink is gone.
The customer service: excellent. The young people working are typical of any fast food place. The young man who took our order was very polite, calling all customers ma'm or sir. I needed to exchange my cup and a young lady popped up right away. We were accidentally brought the wrong size fries and they were quickly replaced with an apology.
Accuracy: While we were eating we did see a couple people from the drive thru come inside because an item was missing from their order, it all seemed to be fries. Since our own order got the fry size wrong I wonder what's going on in the kitchen. This location seems new and maybe people are being trained.
Cleanliness: the floors needed to be mopped but the tables and drink area were clean.
I hope this Whataburger gets some love. The volume of customers was much lower than what you'd see at home. We will definitely be back during our stay in Gardner. read more
