We stopped in for lunch. We got there right at opening and had no trouble getting a seat. The atmosphere is really cool and I enjoyed looking around the space and out the windows while waiting for the meal. Service was prompt and personable. I ordered the hog & feed pizza and my husband got the mill burger. First, we split my husband's burger and I am so glad we did so! The burger was cooked perfectly and it was topped with a creamy ranch sauce and pulled short rib. The short rib bits were burnt and crusty on the ends and yet tender. It was delicious. The pizza was also wonderful. The hog & feed pizza comes topped with bacon, corn, and has an Alfredo sauce. It was unique and I loved it. It's also served on a sourdough crust that chars so nicely. We ended up taking home most of the pizza. It's a rather large portion that can easily be shared. We enjoyed our lunch and we look forward to coming back to dine outside on warmer days. read more

What a great venue....very quaint and very unique. If your looking for ambiance this is one of the best. The food tho.., what a disappointment. They try to put new age type of flair on a country town. I had the fried chicken sandwich which had pickled bell peppers on it. I couldn't even taste the chicken which appeared to be a very small thin piece of breaded something and the top of the bun was so hard I couldn't bite through it. I was excited to try this cool looking place. The design was incredible...the food and drink, not so much. Our server was adorable but new so her knowledge of food, chef etc. was minimal. I was served the wrong wine first attempt and the second attempt was correct wine just in a bleach and water soaked glass, so new glass correct wine AFTER our food was delivered to us. Respectfully, they did not charge me for the wine. My Asst. and I both had the chicken and dumplings which was flavorless accept for the mustard seeds floating on top. I had to salt it, enough said. I understand that tables sometimes have to be rearranged for large parties but there were three people dragging tables and chairs across the wooden floors ,not picking them up , right next to our table. Very disruptive as well as loud. Was thinking about taking out of town clients next week here but totally rethinking. read more

We visited this place and ordered for roasted chicken. The chicken was very salty to the point that it isn't palatable at all. It's also ridiculous that their service is ultimately slow. We ordered prior 1830 but the order arrived at 1920. I totally lost my appetite due to this dissatisfying experience. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Many of the reviews mention how beautiful this restaurant is and it is beautiful, or how pleasant and professional the staff are and that is true, but i have visited on more than one occasion and found the food is substandard at best. I ordered the chicken sandwich for lunch and it was raw in the middle, after waiting twenty minutes i was brought a lukewarm sandwich and i can only imagine its because they fry chicken in batches and warm them up as needed. I could have had a hot sandwich at any fast food restaurant in south west Missouri and it would have been better, out of the four meals that were ordered today three were terrible! Honestly, the fried fish looked very good but i am mad because this place could (should) be amazing but instead all we got was hype. By the way stale home made cake pulled out of a freezer isn't special even if you put a green tomato in it. A great idea has been reduced to a cheesy gimmick and thats a shame this restaurant is so close to being good it's infuriating. read more

My husband loves this place & I like it too but I continue to be disappointed as of late. The first complaint is that there is absolutely no consistency when it comes the bar. One server (bartender) made at Old Fashion that was not even 2 fingers high, charging full price! That is not acceptable. Training them to do the drinks exactly the same no matter the server is the key to good cocktails. They can drop the attitudes at the door, this is your business, not theirs. Our last meal was not as good as we usually have. The broccoli (or broccoletti) was so tough it would not cut with a knife. I believe "broccoletti" is when broccoli goes to seed & this means is been in the ground & would naturally be tough. Not a good side for a meal. Maybe it would have gone over a little bit better if the waitress would have just said, "I'm sorry". Yes, she did bring me another bit of spaghetti squash, but even that was so spicey hot I could not eat it. We enjoyed the meals we had when visiting the Garrison.....we miss it. Been wanting to go there since they opened. Finally made it today and couldn't be more disappointed. Ordered the chicken and dumplings, they were so nasty. My husband ordered the catfish and couldn't eat it either. 70.00 for 2meals neither fit to eat. Came home and our bologna sandwich tasted better than what we had there. Not worth the trip for me. The decor is a page straight out of Joanna Gaines Silos; very rustic and industrial. They left a lot of the components of the old mill in place. Most of the tables at least have a view of the Finley, we were lucky enough to get a table right by the window and by the dam. The food is not cheap. We went during lunch and our total for 2 was still $50. I felt like you could absolutely taste the quality though, not just ingredients but also the chef. We tried the grain bowl with added salmon and the ravioli. Both were full of flavor, especially the grain bowl. That one really exceeded my expectations. read more

Had the catfish Brussels slaw and vinegar & salt potatoes. Very good food, fish was delicious and cooked just right... crispy breading and juicy fish, not overcooked or dry. Wasn't fond of the slaw as it was an effort to chew the brussel sprouts and the flavor didn't draw me in and keep me wanting to eat more, but was ok. Potatoes were also delicious, as was the green tomato cake. Dessert prices were a bit high. Ambiance was very nice. would like to go back in the fall when the weather cools in the evening and dine in the outdoor area with the lights reflecting off of the water. All the food was very delicious and our waiter Andrew was very attentive and answered all the questions we had. I highly recommend this place if your in the area and try the turkey tortellini it's the best! Really wanted to review this restaurant. I came in around lunchtime to take a look around, but said I would be back this evening and asked when they were open. Host said they were open till nine. I said great I will come by and have dinner and get some things from your gift shop. I walked in at 8:15 to grab a salad and they said that they were closed. Another couple behind me was met with the same information -- that many times if they're not busy on Monday and Tuesday they close a little early. Not knocking them for that. I understand that sometimes you don't want to keep your business open late into the evening when you have no traffic. But maybe mention that to your customers who are coming back that evening or post a little bit of information on your website. It would be helpful. The gentleman did ask if I had a reservation and I said no. Maybe that information alone would have prompted me to reserve a table for 8 o'clock in which case I would have been able to enjoy what looks like a great restaurant. We recently took our family of 7, ages 3-75, to try this restaurant for lunch. The wait was to be 1 hr and 30 minutes. We were not surprised and settled down in the bar area to talk and wait. During that time we all got thirsty so 2 of the men went to the "bar" to get pop and water. We were told by the "bartender" that we could not buy soft drinks or get water. We offered to pay for glasses of tap water since he had a sink and water glasses right there, as we could see. He told us that would be impossible. He referred us to the "pop machine" but other employees told us there was no such thing at the property. Needless to say, we all left the premises in order to find food and water elsewhere. Wednesday Dec. 28 we stopped in to eat, busy, with an hour and a half wait, no problem we expected that. We sat in the waiting area, after 30 min we had a couple people who needed water so one of us went to get sodas and water from the bar. He was told they had no ice tea soda or water to sell. So I went up there shortly after to see if this could be true and just asked if I could buy some water and the bartended said no, he didn't have any. So we left. What kind of place won't even sell people water???? Never in my 50 years have I EVER been denied water at a restaurant especially at one as nice as this. All 5 of us were beyond shocked, and honestly you should all be ashamed to have this type of customer service. read more

Menu was extremely limited. The $36 steak was mostly gristle and thin. It included a few pieces of lettuce and French fries! Really??? For $36?? The pasta was just ....well pasta.
