First of all, if you go in to this place expecting a brewery, like I did, then you will be very disappointed. This is not a brewery. This is a bar that happens to sell beer made by someone like a home brewer. And not good beer at that. They have 4 options to pick from. We tried the fancy water and the Irish red. Both were extremely flat. I haven't had a flat beer in a while but that certainly affects the taste of the beer that should have a bit of foam on the top and these didn't have any. Second both beers were absolutely disgusting. If we didn't order food, this would be a 1 star review based on the horrible beer and Coyote Ugly type decor that doesn't match what an actual brewery should look like. It was smelly (like cigarettes) and weirdly uncomfortable. I go to bars often but this one caught me off guard since I was expecting a brewery type experience. The second star is from the food. They have some typical bar food and we got a variety of dishes. We got chili cheese fries that were amazing, fried green beans that were yummy served with a thick ranch dressing, the hot dog wrapped in cream cheese and a tortilla and fried and the chili dog. The food was all really good, however it didn't outweigh the horrible beers. I visit the Springfield area often but I doubt I will ever be back to this place. read more

Started out the Ozarks Tap and Pour Tour 2022/2023 at the Back Home Brewery. As non smokers, we were happy to find the place empty enough to not be smoked filled even on the smoking side of the building. (3:30 pm) While we drooled at the menu, dinner was too close to that time and we opted for just a testing of their local brews. Sadly, there were only two offerings - the Fancy Water and an Octoberfest which seemed oddly misplaced on a 90 degree day. We tried both. And both taste very similar despite being a blonde and a more vibrant beer. While the offerings were meek and the location a bit drab, the staff was delightful and welcoming. read more

Came here for Ozarks Tap and Pour event and it wasn't anything special. They only had two of their own brews on tap and they both tasted very similar and not anything exciting. The place definitely smelled like cigarette smoke. The waitress was nice enough. read more

We were going to stay for Taco Tuesday but I saw one of the bartenders licking her fingers and we decided to leave. I was completely grossed out knowing she was going to deliver the food to us. That's a huge NO THANKS. read more

On our way back from a ride we saw this little spot along the way, so we pulled on in. I was a bit confused at first that the outside area says "no food or drinks" why in the world would you not allow food or drinks outside? Anyway upon entering there are two areas a "smoke free" one to the immediate right, and a smoking area by the bar. We didn't know until much later that the other area was nonsmoking "a big sign would help." I didn't feel as if I were walking into a "craft beer" establishment. I'd say it's more of a bar that dabbles in craft beer. None the less they had about 6 craft beers available at a really great price. The wife ordered Sweet water, reminded me of a Pilsner. It was full of great notes, and almost had a sweet aftertaste. I had the Irish red which was amazing! I really wish they would represent their craft beer side, you can tell brewing is still fairly new to them, but they are putting out some pretty great beers. Not to mention there aren't a lot of people brewing reds around here because of the complexity. That alone scores points in my book. read more

First, the positive. My buddy and I ordered the buffalo sliders, fries and mozzarella sticks, all of which were delicious and promptly served. Also, our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive, especially considering we were the only ones sitting in the open-air patio. But now the reason for the 2 stars.....as soon as I walked in I wasn't sure if i was in a dime bar or brew pub as I was hit with the overpowering smell of cigarette smoke. I've lived in Springfield the past 5 years and haven't been in a bar or restaurant in a while that allowed for smoking indoors so I was a little taken aback. Apparently, Ozark still allows for that but this place offers outside seating. Live and let live. However, this soon became a problem when 2 of the 4 beers I tried on my taster tray had a pervasive cigarette taste to them. I got there before my buddy did and I waited to say anything until he tried some of them to see if I was just being crazy or if this was a legit issue. Before I could bring it up, he made the same comment. We both decided to order the pineapple shandy, which seemed to be mostly free of the marlboro notes that the Pale Ale and the lighter beer had. My friend thought he could still pick up on a light cigarette taste in the bottom of his glass of the shandy but I couldn't tell if the pint I had also had that taste or if it was still lingering from some earlier tasters but I was still picking up on it as well. Here it is a few hours later and I KNOW my buddy and I weren't being delusional as we are texting each other that we still have that cigarette taste in our mouths. I'm not sure what accounts for this unwanted flavor, whether it be the glasses used needing a deeper cleaning or the taps themselves soaking up the contaminants in the air but I hope they figure it out as I would like to sample their wares again sans ashtray. read more

The concept is good, the location could be fantastic BUT this dive bar turned micro-brewery just doesn't compare to the fresh-faced, hipster vibe one could find just a few miles north. For starters the smell of cigarettes permeates everything from the moment you enter the door including the beer which is mediocre at best. I gave 2 stars only because I'm in love with the old Oak tree growing out front. read more

They didn't deserve even one star, signs all say, No Smoking, yet when we walked in, it smelled like a stale outhouse. They in fact do smoke inside! It was the dirtiest Brewery I've ever seen, and I love Brewery Hopping. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone I know! Stay away! read more

This is a review of beer and location/service only. We've been in twice and have tried the Oktoberfest, IPA and coffee stout. They have nice beers. We like that it is a local bar with decent prices ($3.00 dollar domestics and $3.75 crafts). Staff is friendly and the bar offers lots of fun events like live music and Trivia night. If you are used to Springfield's no smoking ordinance, be warned that you can still smoke in bars in Ozark so there will be smoking in the bar. They have a nice pool table area and a great outdoor space. If you enjoy supporting local businesses and sampling local beers stop into this place! read more

This is a friendly watering hole with mostly a local crowd. Smoking indoors but there was seating outside if that's not your jam. Beer is locally brewed and lacks the pretense of other breweries that can be off-putting. Menu is bar food and mostly serves as appetizers or and after-dinner snack. read more

That was the best ribs I've had in decades! My hubby had the pepper fried pork tenderloin and he loved it. He tried the flight of beer and really liked all of them and went back for seconds on the Fancy Water. I think this is our new favorite in Ozark! read more

Love this place. Everyone knows everyone and it's always a good time when we are there. Drink prices are reasonable company is great!!
