Cool vibe, friendly people, the crowd is low key. They had a little pizza truck on site serving pizza. It was good.

They also have a kids' menu, even though it is not listed on the regular menu, which is nice to know if you are bringing children with you. The staff is always awesome, friendly, and welcoming. I also love that the restaurant is located inside an old historic hotel, which gives it such a cool atmosphere -- and maybe even a few ghost stories. Overall, it is a great spot with good food, great service, and a fun historic feel. I definitely recommend checking it out.

The poutine was fabulous. The fry coating was crisp and tasty and the gravy was full of flavor. The Reuben sandwich is outstanding! The way they cut that corned beef was nothing short of magic. An egg on there? What? I've never heard of such a thing, but yes please. And I had the brûlée corn; which I may need to learn how to replicate because I've never seen this on any menu in Chicago, but it's too far to travel as often as I'll be thinking about that dish! The old fashions were smooth! Went with vanilla and loved the subtle flavors. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was a delightful mix of old school pub/English castle. All of it was just what I was hoping to find. Food off the beaten path that deserves a huge shout out. In a town of bland flavors, this place shines like a real gem!

The service was excellent, the cook and the waitress were very kind and friendly and made you feel welcomed. They also offer board games for you to play while waiting for your food. This was a lot of fun and we enjoyed a game of Scrabble while we waited. In which, I did beat my husband, but that's a different story. ;-) they had water, coolers and glasses outside while we waited for the doors to open. My husband said the bathroom was clean. Cons: Unfortunately, we aren't quite sure how this place has won best pizza! We have eaten a lot of pizza in our day and this pizza was no better than a frozen pizza you buy in the grocery store. The crust tasted like cardboard, literally. There was no flavor to it at all. I ordered a supreme with hamburger, and the toppings did not cover the whole pizza. There were several pieces that there were no toppings except for cheese halfway through the pizza to the crust. My husband ordered a supreme with pepperoni and sausage and half of his pizza did not have sausage on it. Our waitress was so kind and apologetic for messing the order up that she gave us a discount. For two 12 inch pizzas and two Dr Peppers, (which come in the bottle) our cost was $66 (this included the tip). I'm not sure how their other food tastes. I did notice they were bringing out pretzel appetizers to another table as we were leaving, and they were very much overdone! All in all, we enjoyed being able to play a game without feeling rushed and the friendly staff. As far as the food; meh, save your "dough" and go somewhere else!

The restaurant is somewhat tucked away behind Bass Pro Shops along the shopping strip, but it's definitely worth seeking out. We decided to sit at the bar, and Jazz immediately took great care of us. She quickly got us a couple of cold beers, handed us menus, and made us feel welcome from the start. Friendly, attentive service always makes a difference, and Jazz did an excellent job throughout our visit. I wasn't overly hungry, so I ordered the Cheesy Burger, while my colleague went with the Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger. When our food arrived, we both realized we may have underestimated the portion sizes. These burgers were huge! They were packed with flavor, cooked well, and loaded with toppings. Even with healthy appetites, we could only finish about half of our meals and ended up taking the rest with us for later. As we were enjoying our food, we noticed an eerie fog bank slowly rolling across the lake. It created a unique and almost surreal backdrop that made the evening even more memorable. Between the beautiful scenery, perfect weather, excellent service, and delicious food, it turned into one of those unexpected dining experiences that sticks with you. Great meal, great atmosphere, and a fantastic way to spend an evening in Branson. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

My husband and I go on little mini vacations every six months or so without the kids and this year we decided to go to Branson. After planning a trip to this exact hotel about two years ago and having to cancel because of circumstances outside of our control we decided to rebook here since we were so excited about it the first time. I will tell you if you book through Expedia make sure you call to follow up with them to make sure you have all of the information you need to get into the building if you are going to get there late at night. When you get there you are greeted by the most charming street and when you walk in it feels like you are a part of a hallmark movie. The environment itself brought me so much joy. We arrived around 10:30 at night and it was quiet. We went up to our room and it was small but this is a historic building with a lot of character so unless you are planning on spending most of your trip in your room this is/was a non issue for us. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean and they had everything we could have wanted and needed. I did read some reviews about the water temperature/ temperature of the rooms. I will say there was no control for the central air/heat in our room that we noted BUT THAT BEING SAID it was comfortable the entire time we were there. There was also a ceiling fan that we could control via remote control that kept it the perfect temperature for us the entire time. We had a room that looked out onto the Main Street below us and the old railroad tracks next door and it was so pleasant after a long day to be able to watch the people below. Now that we've gone over the room, let's talk about the customer service. It has been so so long since I have stayed in a place that has had such exceptional customer service. John made sure we had everything we needed and more, making sure every time we walked by the front desk that we didn't need anything. Not only did he make sure our check in and stay was seamless, it really seemed like he cared about our trips overall experience. Again, it is a smaller place so by the end of our trip it felt like he knew us and we knew him. He made sure we were happy, fed and that our time there was special. Whether that be making sure we had chairs to sit on at the lake we were planning on spending a day at, to a place to sit for the Fourth of July fireworks with the perfect view, to giving his name at other establishments near by so we were taken care of. I will say to his praise as well even places we went to and mentioned where we were staying had nothing but the absolute kindest things to say about him and what a great place it was. Now, one of my favorite things, the food. There is a restaurant located inside of the inn, this is where most of the hustle and bustle comes from during the day and really truly brings the place alive. The staff were excellent, so personable and just fun. The food was fantastic and as a self certified food snob I was never disappointed. At one point I looked at my husband and said this is the first time in a while I have felt like the food is worth the hype. We went into the bar in the afternoons and had appetizers and drinks and were greeted with the same friendly face behind the bar each time(I wish I had gotten his name but he was wonderful - if you go tell him I said hi!). We tried several appetizers from the nachos to the pretzel and the fish and chips entree and everything left us happy and satisfied. The drinks were always good and again the service here is exceptional. The location is pretty central in hollister. We had everything we needed within walkable distance from the inn. At one point I told my husband I preferred hollister over Branson. We had initially gone for all of the touristy stuff Branson had to offer. We spent a good day there doing the titanic museum and the mountain coaster, but I think both of us preferred the slowness and more personable feeling hollister had to offer. The other business along the strip were also so welcoming and beautiful and just treated you with the same openness as family. I really wish I could describe to you just how much I loved it here but the previous statements will have to hold to be true. I have not been so sad to leave a place in a long time and we will be back many times over.

It seemed to take longer than I expected and everyone was so busy, it seemed like they needed a few more employees to service the crowd. But then I discovered this is a scratch dinner service and when the food came out, it was exceptional. I come to find out that this is a scratch dinner preparation, meaning Nothing is made until you order, and sometimes with multiple people at your table plates may not come out at the same time because they may be batched with similar orders that came in at the same time from separate tables. Take for example the Beef Cheek pasta. One person at our table was served the beef cheek pasta as well as somebody at a separate table. But the other three diners at our table were still waiting for our meal for quite some time. But it comes out hot and It comes out freshly prepared, because it is not sitting there under a heat lamp, waiting for the other meals to be prepared. When my roast did chicken did arrive, along with my wife's shrimp and another diners scallops, everything was hot, fresh, outstanding and well worth the wait. So please be prepared when dinner service is busy, as it will be this summer. You may wait a little longer, but the food will be well worth the wait.

** For those who are neurodivergent, have ASD, social anxiety, etc. **…read moreThe parking is spread out, so it's not overwhelming. There is one entry to the building on the West middle side. They have glass doors, so you can see the volume of people inside first. The bathroom is uniquely placed at the South West corner of the building and, even better, has a half wall so you can quietly retreat out of view, if necessary. You can either order and pay at the bar right at the entry, or there is an outdoor bar as well. I will note, the outdoor bar is more crowded, louder, it is more difficult to hear and be heard by the bartender. I prefer the indoor bar when it is less crowded. The menu is not extensive, so it's simple to order from. There are food trucks available at multiple spots outside, so it is easy to order and not feel too crowded. I've attended twice and the staff are very kind. At the tables in the immediate outdoor space that is enclosed in winter, the patrons are usually extremely loud because it is a small space. This can be problematic for those with sensory issues around noise. However, when it's good weather and open to the outdoors there are extensive options for seating with a variety of types of chairs. One can easily find a spot a bit further from the crowds for a more relaxed and quieter experience. When the outdoors are open to patrons there is another entrance that is a few feet from the main West entrance to the building. This makes for a great secondary option to leave without passing through the thicker crowds seated nearer the bar. However, often a food truck is placed at that entrance which can feel a bit overwhelming. The only change I would make is that they don't provide ice water and there aren't other options to beer if that's not something you are into or you don't drink very much. I think that would be a great improvement to their business model. I highly recommend this location compared to other bar experiences in the Springfield, Battlefield, Republic area.

Beers are plentiful with more than 8 beers on tap. For those that aren't beer lovers they have a couple frozen drink options that are always tasty. Food trucks vary from day to day but the best way to keep up on trucks is follow their FB page. The owners are super nice and down to earth. They are always doing charity events which is awesome. Don't miss Oktoberfest which is super fun with multiple food trucks! I frequent this establishment about once every two weeks, even more when the weather is nice.
