Unfortunately after this experience we most likely will not be back. The food had good flavor and it tasted good. Everything seemed fresh and was served hot. The salsa provided was very good. However, one of us ordered a shrimp quesadilla, and it's the furthest thing from what we imagine when we hear the word quesadilla. This quesadilla was one tortilla folded in half with some half melted cheese and 5-6 shrimp inside. The picture of it in this review had a couple of bites out of it. It tasted good, but just wasn't a quesadilla... The quesadilla wasn't enough to fill up a 22 year old man, so he decided to finish what I couldn't of the special de la casa (which was very good and they provided a lot of), however a couple bites into what was left of it our server appeared and took both plates away. Ok.... so we stopped by here after a day at SDC and let me tell ya that big margaritas on the rocks hit the spot! So their salsa is a little on the tomatoey side but it's good and the chips when brought out warm are pretty legit! So I got my normal staple of cheese enchiladas and a beef taco and it won my stomach over. Great seasoning on the taco meat, a little soggy on the beef so do t let ur taco sit too long but I'm ok w soggy! The red sauce is actually pretty good and better than I expected! The wife agreed on her enchilada and said the flautus she had were pretty darn good. She asked for chicken but it looked like pork but she didn't care.... nothing left on the plate..... The kiddo got a cheese quesadilla and they crammed that thing full of cheese!!!!! read more

Stopped here randomly on a Tuesday for dinner with my father in law. Free chips and salsa brought to table. (If you order a mixed drink, ask for a double as it comes in a tall glass). He had the shrimp fajitas... amazing. I'm a chimi connoisseur and from the southwest.. but WOW the trial plate of 3 small chimis had beef, chicken (both shredded) and shrimp. Has been our favorite for Mexican food for many years. They start everyone out with free unlimited chips and salsa. Excellent menu and food choices. Even for those who do not like Mexican. We both ordered frozen lime margaritas, & they were on point! I think they were the strongest frozen margaritas we've ever had dining out. Been coming here for years on our annual vacation and is definitely a tradition. Unlimited chips and salsa that is always warm, unlike some restaurants that have gone away from that and charge you for chips or after your first basket. Food is always fresh and super consistent. Never had a bad experience even when they are busy. Prices are very affordable and food portions are pretty large. Place is casual but clean and is a great place to relax and get a great meal in. Not fancy or will wow by presentation but more than gets the job done and is above average in food quality. Well, we went with a medium sized group, so I expected the service to be slow...but it was a bit slower than it should have been. Lunch took about 1.5 hours total. The chips and salsa were good. The chips were cold the first time, but all the refills were hot chips. I like hot chips. :) The salsa was medium-low heat, just right. I am a big fan of Chevy's Fresh Mex, California Mexican food, and authentic Mexican. This didn't satisfy any of those niches. My meal was about $10, and it only included a tiny tamale, a tiny taco, and a tiny enchilada. Honestly, for the price I was so disappointed I couldn't help but to ask the server, "Is this is?" He tried to rectify the situation by giving me some Spanish rice, but even that was only so-so. Even so, that gesture is why they got two stars instead of one. Another guy I was with ordered the nachos appetizer. It was very droll. It was literally chips, ground beef and cheese. This place could not decide if it wanted to be Tex Mex or authentic. Tex Mex usually creates big, overstuffed, cheesy ground beef nachos; authentic usually contains shredded beef, cheese and maybe beans. They sort of mixed the worst of the two...*sigh* The food was OK, but again, it was nothing special to me. I cannot say I will ever go again. I think I would rather patronize the local Taco Bell and save quite a bit of cash. read more
