Wais and his team catered my sister's baby shower today. I wanted to take a picture for this review but everything disappeared too fast! There were 6-7 types of sandwiches - both vegan and meat options - a fresh fruit plate, a veggie plate, pita and hummus, and six dipping sauces. Everyone raved about the food! I was also delighted with the service. Wais was wonderful to work with, happily adjusting the catering menu to suit all of our guests. He even showed up with a mason jar of fresh flowers his wife cut from their garden as a shower gift for my sister. You can only find this kind of thoughtfulness in Fredrick! read more

This is a trendy place with pricing to match. The amount of food you get doesn't seem like much compared to the price you pay. Without drinks, dinner will set you back about $100 for 4 people with only one appetizer shared. Let's talk food, I had the Polynesian Stir Fry with tofu. Tasted excellent. Came with brown rice and veggies. Hubby had the Szechuan Stir Fry with tofu. It needed less sweet and more heat. Third guest had non vegan Tomato Bisque with Grilled Cheese and loved it. Shopping with my family in Frederick,MD we decided to eat at The Orchard. Busy little restaurant. Nicely decorated. Our waiter was informative on the specials of the day. No soda here. We all ordered unsweetened ice tea. The menu is very healthy and caters to vegan. Neither of which excites my taste buds or desires in a restaurant. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. Probably the least healthy menu item. Excellent flavor on fresh bread. Very small sandwich and it does not come with a side of anything for ten bucks. I've never been to a restaurant that did not have a side with sandwich. Needless to say I left very hungry. My Aunt and cousins enjoyed their stir fry. To me not one of their 3 meals looked appetizing. I won't go back but I would recommend it to my health conscious friends. read more

This place was pretty good. I had been meaning to try it for awhile and finally did. The interior is cute and clean, and the staff very friendly. The menu has a lot of interesting options and I'd like to try one of the apps or a stir fry. The only thing I can speak for is the soup (potato and leek) and the house salad with chicken salad as the protein. The soup was absolutely delicious - great flavor, not overly or under salty. Only thing I wished is that is had some chunks of vegetables rather than being 100% blended to make it a little heartier. Great flavor though. The house salad was good but was lacking in toppings - I enjoyed all the toppings it had, but the amount of each topping was very small. Especially the avocado I added, it wasn't even a quarter of an avocado for an extra $2. Most places will give you half an avocado when you add it. The chicken salad was not good on the other hand. The chicken pieces were cut WAY too large and extremely dry, the dressing basically tasted like just Mayo and sugar maybe? It was oddly sweet. It had exactly one piece of celery and a half of a grape. Also a very small portion of that on the salad. The creamy garlic dressing basically just tastes like ranch (it is yummy) and the tomato tamari dressing was pretty good as well, just a little sweet for me. Wish there were more sprouts, pickled onions, and tomatoes on there, only got 2 cherry tomatoes. The salad had mostly lettuce and carrots. For being an almost $14 salad you'd expect more toppings. I did like it but was disappointed in the quantity of topping and the flavor of my added protein. I also did not receive the homemade bread the menu stated my salad would come with, which I was exited to try! I would like to give this place another shot even after the underwhelming salad, but at $23 for a soup and a salad with not many toppings, I hope next visit is better! read more

What a great place for lighter fare! However don't worry, if you want some deep fried tempura goodies, take your pick from the orchard. The ambiance reminds me of my non-Asian friend's grandparents place. It's quaint and charming. Don't expect sleek and modern but a place where you can find a nice rocking chair tucked away somewhere... There were a couple of tables outside and young tatted up staff which was was cool. Hipster but you knew who was in the kitchen was churning out some good eats! Ask for all the sauces because they were so delicious! (Hot sauce was like a spicy BBQ, horseradish was a bit chunky and oh so good). Got the perfectly battered and fried zucchini tempura with horseradish dip. Came out piping hot! I liked how the batter stuck to the zucchini. Portobello pita wth the perfect amount of tomato, onion, and cheese. Don't know what the light red sauce was but I didn't even need it and I usually love the sauces! Not to discount it's tangy creamy counterpart but the mushroom was just seasoned so perfectly. Got the raspberry orange rice pudding special of the day and the raspberry cobbler... Amazing. I usually don't like desserts but for the first time in a long time, I wanted more. We had a gift certificate for The Orchard for awhile and now I'm kicking myself for not using it sooner because we really enjoyed our dinner there last night. The ambiance was really nice; very peaceful and welcoming. Kind of feels like a friend's home rather than a restaurant. The menu was right up my alley, too. All kinds of sandwiches and salads and a whole arsenal of stir-fried dishes and other entrees. I had the Japanese stir-fry with shrimp. It had a ton of vegetables and the sauce was perfect. My husband had a southwest chicken sandwich and we got onion and mushroom tempura to share. All was very fresh, tasty and nicely done. We are definitely fans of this cozy spot. read more

3.5 stars. No parking - It took time to find a parking spot and the meter ripped us off but there was no wait at the restaurant. The menu is easy to follow. The service is noticeably good. The place is noticeably clean. Each stir fry is made with a different mix of vegetables. We ordered two Japanese stir fry dishes, one with tofu and one shrimp. The food is fresh, had a nice aroma and tastes good. The tofu version has considerably more oil. They tell us it absorbs it during cooking but it was a pond on the bottom of her plate. We drove an hour to get here and would eat here again if we are in the area but wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Hands down the best chill restaurant in downtown Frederick. There are great options for vegetarians/vegans, but they have options for everyone. We ordered take out. I got the Chinese Stir Fry... it tasted bland. Glad there was a lot of veggies though. But I really expected to taste ginger since it's listed as the sauce. You know that feeling when you're starving and think you can eat anything... that's how I was feeling but could not finish eating my meal. You can taste watermelon more than this stir fry. My toddler was disappointed with the smokey flavored grilled cheese. My husbands salmon sandwich was good. The bread was soft and had that freshly baked appeal. We appreciate the orange slice and half strawberry. The coconut shrimp was good, but the dipping sauce looked like watered down translucent sweet and sour. Honestly, Costco does a better coconut shrimp. All in all, $80 later and still hungry. We will not return here because it's too much of a crapshoot. read more

We were visiting Frederick for a night with our pup and were looking for a place with outdoor seating and vegan options. The orchard was a great choice! I had the crispy sesame tofu and fried rice. It was good, but the tofu was not very crispy which I found disappointing since it said crispy in the menu item title description. The fried rice was similarly not very crispy, but it all had good flavor. It was a little expensive for what you got. Other dishes we had were the special eggplant parm and another crispy tofu dish.
