Great service at the bar from Nicole and Patrick. I'm on the road for business but felt welcome even though it's locals. Good wings (although they are breaded) and moderate drink prices. Came here with a friend because we happened to be in the area and were in need of food and some beer. I ordered chicken quesadilla and wings, and my friend went with mozzarella sticks and a margherita pizza. The wings were nothing special. Not awful, but there are so many places that do a far better job with them. The quesadilla? I was delivered a plain cheese quesadilla and noticed about halfway through it was chicken free. The waitress offered to replace it, but since I was half done I declined. There was nothing special at all about the quesadilla other than the overcooked tortilla that disintegrated into a crumbly mess the moment I bit into it. . My friend underwhelmed with the pizza. It was a very doughy offering with little flavor. It screamed canned sauce with its cloying sweetness. The mozzarella sticks were the standard fare that thousands of restaurants buy frozen and dump into the fryer. I don't expect much from these frozen and fried morsels, but a good sauce can save the day. They were served with a sauce that tasted mass market. Overly sweet. It probably came from the same can of industrial sauce they use for the pizza. The beer selection was a huge disappointment. I understand that a "sports bar" needs to have plenty of Coors, Bud and Miller for those who enjoy that stuff, but there was very little to offer craft beer aficionados. This is 2015, not 1996. With all of those taps, I think a few could be devoted to few good craft beers. The only thing that came close was Goose Island, owned by Budweiser. The service was slooow. We were on our second beer before the food came. My wing "appetizer" came out a full 30 minutes after the rest of the food. And the bartender, though pleasant enough, seemed very absent minded. After serving us for over an hour and a half he asked us if we wanted to see a menu, as if we just walked in. He seemed surprised when we told him that we had already been served food. I love a place such as this with a history, but they need to get with the times. At least if you call yourself a sports bar, you should have killer wings and a passable pizza. They have neither. And a few decent brews on tap would be a huge plus. I doubt I will return. read more

The food was just okay. We ordered the wings, fries and nachos. I've had better nachos and actually regretted placing the order. It didn't have any chips and slapped with stuff that the chips it did have were completely soggy. I ordered additional chips to try to fix the problem but the waitress totally forgot. I attempted to have a Sunday funday here with one of my girl friends. The parking is a little strange and seems very limited, but we got lucky that someone happened to be pulling out. We arrived during early evening and the place wasn't packed at all. The place has a cool Nascar pit type of theme. The bar circles around and there is a small stage on the left.The bartender asked us what we wanted to drink and I got a corona and my friend got a blue moon on tap. There was an over 40s crowd next to us that bartender seemed to know and was more concerned about, we had to ask her for a menu. She came back within 2 mins but we weren't ready, and then she just never came back to ask us what we wanted lol. By the time we tried getting her attention to order food, our beers weren't even cold anymore. She then noticed us when she walked back to the register; we just asked for our check instead.. Both beers still half full. Maybe it was an off day or we just should've ordered our food when she came the first time, but the vibe just wasn't there. When some friends and I had first come here we thought it was a hidden treasure because it was not that busy and the food was great. Now every time we go the place is packed. I wanted to bring attention to the management that me and my friends were there yesterday (2/7/2016) around 6 PM to watch super bowl and was trying to sit at stadium chair( front row seat to the screen). There was guy a back who screamed at us for no reason that we are interrupting him , he was very rude to us as we are not from this country and he was making racial comments to us. Bar tender intervened and apologized to us but we had to leave the place. We have been there several times and this is first time we are insulted and hurt on a racial manner. I have been a regular patron of the OL since I turned 21 about 10 years ago. This bar has been filled with so many wonderful memories- from all day drinking events, giant burgers, college football, and local bands. Tonight I was beyond disappointed. I came with my family, a mixed group of 25 to 65 year olds. We ordered basic menu items: wings, fries, burgers, beer towers, and wraps. The waitress was blatantly rude to us- stating "I am trying to get everything else out to you" when guests asked for silverware and condiments. Eventually, she told us she was too overwhelmed to keep serving us and had the second shift staff assist as she cried in the back. We did not receive half of our order, however did receive a bill for $200. When we asked to speak to a manager, he was clearly not on staff for another 10 minutes and as we waited for him were told by the male bouncer "sorry, but she is just really over whoever, you did nothing wrong." Finally, when the manager arrived, he told our party that he had "never seen us before" and that his staff was overwhelmed. Rather than rectifying anything, he actually threatened to call the police on our family. I am disgusted and appalled by the Orange Lantern. Their owner needs to come home from Florida and figure things out before his entire staff ruins his business model. What a disgusting night. And I will not stop until someone from their establishment formally apologizes. read more

Went there a few weeks back on a Saturday night and the band was good. Ordered a drink from a female bartender and was talking with a friend and was making jokes about each other during conversation and she leaned over and thought I was talking about her, when i explained, not that i needed to, that i was talking about him, she then told me to shut the fuck up 3 different times and i just left it at that. Few minutes later a guy who looked like he sniffed about a pound of coke walked up to us and said "I want to know what the fuck you guys are talking about" and looked at him with a confused look and he then says "Who has coke". Nice place but horrible experience. Don't know why the bartender came at me like that, When ordering drinks I said hi with a smile, ordered and left a decent tip and went about with my friends. But two different male bartenders each easily over 300 pounds couldn't act more menacing and nasty if they tried. Try to engage them in conversation. That won't work. You get the feeling that either of them would rather be involved in a good old-fashioned bar scrum fistfight than tending the bar. They are openly hostile to male guests and I've been here with many different people. And they are flirtatious with female guests even if they are with a guy. I was at The Orange Lantern on cinco de mayo to meet up with some friends. There was a band playing for the most part the vibe there was good. I ordered a margarita and cheese/chicken quesadilla. I ate and had my drink then my friends and I decided to go to another location. I asked the bartender (wish I could remember her name, but she was a tall, caucasian woman with blond hair) to close out my tab. I had a slice of my quesadilla still left on my plate, the bartender took it up and walked away. She did not ask if I was done eating or if I would like to take it home. When she came back over I asked if she threw my food away, she said yes and she proceeded to walk again before I could say anything else to her. I left The Orange Lantern beyond annoyed. I tried my best to not be that black person that goes off on someone over something so trivial, but looking back at it maybe I should have ripped her or asked to speak to a manager. Awful food! Slow service. We were the only customers for table service for lunch on a Friday. . The food took forever and was a major disappointment. We just order grilled sandwiches. The fries were overcooked in old oil. The waitress spent most of her time texting rather than taking care of her only customers. Ok so my wife and I have been living in Oradell since 1989 and have been saying for years that we need to try this joint. So it took my two twenty something year old sons to finally get us there and it is a throwback to the neighborhood bars from my Brooklyn days. The food is always good and plentiful, the bartenders always friendly, especially my boy Pat and they even allow an out-of-tune knucklehead like myself to sing karaoke as I butcher the crap out of The Weight by the Band. I always feel welcome at the"OL" as my boys call it. I just wish my son's softball team could win one from them in the Oradell men's softball league. We are now at the OL once a week if not more and are always very pleased. read more

The O.L. is what it is... and it does a good job of meeting the lack of expectations. I think this place belongs more on a rural road as opposed to Paramus, but it is a welcomed change and they have pretty cheap drinks. The bar pies and wings are pretty good, and the rest of the food is decent as well considering it is bar food. The atmosphere is festive and lively, and never too crowded which is nice. Watch out for the dirty glasses, though, as I've had a couple times I've noticed this as being a problem. read more

I have given this place so many chances recently and only once can I say my experience was good. The bartender on Sunday evenings is really good and friendly. Last Friday I went here with a friend and her boyfriend. We had to cut our visit short because friends were arriving at my house sooner than expected. I wasn't greeted by the server a young girl, she was annoyed by us. Didn't offer us a menu. I asked for cheese fries she didn't care how I wanted them she was bothered by our presence. I needed them to go, she wanted to tell me no. On our way out she was talking badly about us to the table next to us. Last night I tried starting a conversation with the bartender he was anything but friendly. Just don't get it.... it's a shame.
