I've been going to The Optometry Center for 6 years, and always had a great experience. Dr. Z is awesome. Great staff and lots of great selection glass frames at reasonable prices. read more

I came here for my first appointment about 2 weeks ago. They were able to get me in right away. I had Dr. Z and she was great, super friendly and professional, she answered any questions that I had and explained everything I didnt understand. All the staff is professional and very welcoming. I was seen on time and everything was super quick. The location is superrrrr convenient for me since I live right up the road. My glasses took 2 weeks to come in which was a bit longer than I expected but they were worth the wait. I'm super happy with my new eye Dr. Highly recommend this place! read more

The optometry center accepts my insurance and so I made an appointment to get my contact lens rechecked. I was long overdue yikes! Appointment process was easy, and I was able to get in within a week. Day of appointment, check-in was standard and parking was easy. They apparently have a drive thru pick up or something in the back parking lot but I haven't utilized this yet. My appointment was with Dr. Angela Wong and she was super nice. The office itself was quiet, but DR. Wong was full of energy. She is Very thorough and answered all questions I had regarding contact lens option. My eyes have gotten dryer over the years, and I wanted to try a new brand. She recommended dailies and those have been perfect for me. Greatly recommend this office for your eye needs and Dr. Wong for helping you find the best lens options. read more

Always seen on time. That in of itself is enough for 5 stars, but I'll continue. Receptionists are amazing and super friendly and helpful. They even give you a call a day before your appointment to remind you. When I had a medical emergency, they were sympathetic and helped schedule an appointment on the very same morning of my call. The doctors are excellent as well. I have seen 3 of them so far and they have been very good to me and educated me on my eye condition. read more

The Optometry Center is a place that I have been giving my business to for the last 20+ years. The doctors are phenomenal especially Dr.Pope and Technician Marylou. I have noticed in the they added a bunch of millennials to the staff have no business working in anybody's office. They don't know how to interact with people. read more

I recently switched optometrists, partly due to relocation, but also because I was dissatisfied with my previous optometrist. I haven't been able to see clearly for years, and although my prescription didn't change, my vision has gotten progressively worse. Dr. Zhublawar listened to my concerns (unlike my previous optometrist) and gave me a prescription that works for me. It took a couple of visits to get my contact lens prescription right, but I didn't mind going back, if it meant finally being able to read unaided by a magnifying glass. I am very happy with their services and would recommend. read more

The staff here is really friendly. They greet you with a huge smile every time you walk through the door. They are very knowledgeable about the test and procedures they perform. The only thing I would recommend is a better selection of frames. read more

Dr. Pope has been my optometrist for many years. He is very professional in what he does.

I went here last year and am so disgusted by this place. I only wanted a new pair of glasses and to be checked for glaucoma (as my mom has it and I was getting pressure in my eye). During my appointment they spent over an hour trying to get me to buy contacts and tell me about laser surgery...I stayed true to my mantra, NOT INTERESTED! Dr. Z put contacts in my eyes while I tried on frames...of course they got stuck and scratched my eyes, then she still kept trying to sell me on them. I had to go in for 3 follow up appointments for glaucoma tests...all 4 - 6 weeks apart. They kept finding nothing, and there were no changes and I had to pay out of pocket. Every time I was there they tried to get me to buy something new. They tried to get me to come in for a 4th follow up appointment, I refused. Now, a year later I received a postcard with a tentative appointment, which stated if I dont call to confirm my appointment will be cancelled. As I dont like them, I didnt want to go back. I threw the appointment card away. For the past week in a half, I have been receiving phone calls between 7-9pm at night every-other-day from an automated voice reminding me of my appointment; which now says if I wish to cancel or reschedule I must call the office. My glasses broke this weekend, but I refuse to go back to them. Capitalist swine! BTW - I have coworkers that swear by Dr. Pope, but I've had nothing but headaches from this place. read more

My family and I have been going to the optometry center for the past 2 years and have never had a complaint! Dr Z is the best eye doctor that I have had. When I first went to her she checked my eyes and did not rank up my prescription, I'm sure other eye doctors would! She also gave me advice on how to exercise my eyes since my job entails staring at the computer screen. Another concern was my dry eyes when wearing contacts. I wasn't sure if it was because of my overuse of my contacts or the brand I was using. Dr. Z was nice and was honest with me and said that instead of her changing my contact brand now she would give me a trial with the same contacts I've been using and to track at what hour it gets dry. Most Doctors would just charge you to try other contacts which Is triple the price of a reevaluation. Dr. Z was very helpful! They don't push you to spend more money than you need. The staff at the optometry center are friendly and knowledgeable as well! Marilou helped me find what glasses were right for me, even if I was being indecisive haha. She explained the benefits of all the different lenses I could get and did not pressure me on what to buy. I ended up getting more than just the basic lenses because she explained the benefit so well! I'd definitely recommend to check them out! read more

My family have been clients for years now. We keep coming back. Why because Todd and Gloria always remember us. We started going to the Optometry Center because our apartment managers worked there. You know how the saying goes " Hook a sista up!' And boy have they. Or " You gotta have the right connections to get what you want. They always gave us personal one on one attention by booking annual exams, picking out frames and getting the teenager adjusted to contact lens. I can always call up if I need supplies or help. They have all the diagnostic tools needed in first hand optometry care. I keep warning the assistants or whoever is preping me for the Dr. exam... Just do whatever you are going to do and don't say it.... I have a hard time telling my eyes it's OK that a Puff of air or some dialation solution is going in my eyes. My eyes SHUT up and don't want to open anymore... If only I can open my eyes and not trip I can free up some time, cause it makes my appointment even longer. Kinda like playing them carnival games where you have to constantly play over and over again because you are so close to getting the water in the hole. They take most insurances. They have a pretty big staff. The only negative thing is I think they need to HIRE ME to go shopping for frames for customers. No wait that is a POITIVE thing cause then they will have me on there team. They can upgrade on there styles a bit. The POSITIVE SIDE of it is since I KNOW I GOT CONNECTIONS, I look through there frame collections and then if nothing is calling my name like a cute pair of shoes, I will go look around at other places, write down the style number and shoot it back over to them, and they will order those for me and no extra cost which helps me to maximize my VSP benefits. read more

Easy, breezy with a huge selection. I'll be returning today for my glasses. Parking is the only con. I would choose a side street with a short walk to it as opposed to attempting to navigate the entirely too small parking lot attached to the building. read more

The Optometry Center - Big office very pleasant staff I must say - Optometrists Near Me - Hayward, California

Came here for a new pair of prescription sunglasses, and Dr. Bui was amazing! He was way more informative than my previous optometrists and he gave me great advise for taking care of my eyes. Dr. Bui seemed to really care, and I appreciated that. Another reason I liked this place is because of their Yelp page! A lot of optometrist offices are not on Yelp, but not the Optometry Center! I love being able to choose the best office in my network based on Yelp reviews, of course I checked to see that this office was in my network first, but Yelp made choosing this place an easy choice! I'm very happy with the friendly staff and wide selection they have. The one thing I did not enjoy about the process was the payments. Like any other optometrist office, the payments are at the end and that's when you really find out all the additional charges of, say, adding UV coating, getting the lens tinted, and any extra additions you have desire. But I wouldn't count this a as mark against the office since this system is universal in the states. Overall good experience with timely service. I got my glasses two weeks after the visit. read more

I am giving this location a five star rating because of the good service I received, during my most recent visit. I received a call that my glasses were ready for pick up, and that I would need to set up a time to go pick them up. The staff provided good customer service by clearly explaining the procedure for picking up orders. This overall was a good experience. read more

Lately there has been no great communication ever since they got a new owner. Seems they hire any random person to work there without training them properly. I went in the beginning of the year for my annual check up and prescription. I paid for my contacts for a year. I get a pair for 6 months. This time around I call in for my second pair only to get transferred from receptionist to receptionist and now telling me I have to pay double for my contacts because the first time there was a miscommunication with what needed to get paid and how much it was. And now I have no contacts and need a new place to go read more

Staff are friendly and helpful! Nice, clean office. They have a roomy parking lot behind the building. Good selection of frames (sports lenses, goggles, children's frames - they have it all), reasonably priced. Open Saturdays. Kids area in the waiting room. They know their business. Switched last year and will probably stay here. They also have "express pickup" so you can pick up your finished product quickly! read more

The Optometry Center is excellent! All the doctors and staff members are great, friendly, professional, caring, and more. To sum it up in one word (Exemplary). Everyone was very nice and helpful. My kids already had their prescriptions so I can't comment on their optometry services. However, we had a question and an optometrist spoke with us and answered all our questions. They were very busy both times we visited. When we were in to order the glasses we waited 15-20 minutes and then the assistant was not very helpful. But when we picked up the glasses we waited less than 5 minutes. I was surprised that the assistant did not physically check the fit of the glasses. She just looked at them and said they were fine. read more

I dread coming here. They are never on time and the place is really noisy. I find the doctors professional but once you get done with them it is chaos. I ordered glasses one time and they screwed the order up it took over 3 months. Parking is good. I need a new optometrist in Hayward. read more

Dr. Z was responsive and had the lab replace my lenses for the umpteenth time. They looked fine when I left. I tested them outdoors, but the sun was in full spectrum. I wore one pair today for the first time since receiving back from TOC. I have another crazed lens. This time it looks kind of like a cross hatch pattern. I took a photo of it, but it shows up as streaks. Very disappointed with the results. read more

So I made an appointment with the optometry center a few days ago. It has been well over ten years since I have had my eyes checked but it is about time for me to check them out. This place was close to my home so I mainly went here for convenience. I will say though they surpassed my expectations. I walked in and was instantly greeted by the front desk. They explained the process and gave me the forms to fill out. Ultimately painless process so far. I finish my paperwork and bring it back up to the desk, not 5 minutes later I was called in. I was working with Dr. Z and I must say she was great. She knew that it has been a while and was explaining what she was doing every step of the way. I ended up being there for almost an hour but it did not feel like it. The conversations we had were fun and genuine it made the whole experience pleasant. I would highly recommend this place. small note: I also enjoy their text reminders as this is not only the best way to contact me but it keeps me a bit more organized as I can link it to my calendar on my phone. read more

People here are super nice and helpful! Found the perfect frames and the girl even made sure they fit good to make sure they are the glasses perfect for me. Loved my experience here. Definitely will be back in the future for the next frames read more

My family has been going to this place for the past 20 years. My kids and husband see Dr Pope and he's great. We love him. Unfortunately, this past three years, the service of the office has been poor. Last year, I made an appt, for my daughter, in person, the day I had my vision exam. And when we came for her appt. they had no record. The office Mgr said the doctor can see her later that day but we had other commitments. This year, my daughter had an eye exam. My husband ordered her contact lenses on July 23 on the phone. He was told by one of their staff that the rebate coupons would me be mailed to our home. We received the contact lens order from the vendor. Two weeks later, we still haven't received the rebate coupons. My husband called again this week and was told that it should be coming soon. We still haven't received it... how hard is it to mail them.. our address hasn't changed and they've mailed notices to our home before. I haven't had my eye exam yet and I'm definitely not coming here. My family will not be coming here in the future. read more

Friendly staff and doctors. Convenient reminders for appointments. Open weekends. Great place!

Everyone is always nice and friendly. My first time here was my very first time at a optometrist and they made my experience very pleasant. They explained everything from beginning to end. The only little thing which wasn't a big deal was that the receptionist was a little unfocused and it seam that the work she was doing was more important than helping me out but like i said, its not a big deal. read more

1. The staff is super friendly and helpful. 2. The optician who ultimately helped my choose my glasses was knowledgeable and accommodating. 3. Dr. Stephanie Tsang was amazing! She's definitely the highlight of my experience. She's so sweet and thorough. I love it when doctors understand that you're a lay person and take their time to explain exactly what they're doing and why they're doing it. Dr. Tsang was methodical and answered all my questions. After checking my eyes for only a few seconds, she told me that my contact lens prescription (that I've been wearing for the last year) were too strong for my eyes which was causing my eyes to strain. I hadn't even mentioned to her that my eyes get tired quickly and she knew! I will definitely continue to come see Dr. Tsang in the future because she's also very easy to talk to and she doesn't have that awkward bedside manner some doctors seem to have. read more

This was the most informative eye exam ever:) Dr. Pope was awesome and very personable! He explained my prescription thoroughly and added fun facts along the way which I probably might not remember by next week, but it's very thoughtful:) The staff was also attentive and professional. The staff here are usually helpful, however, they tend to go back on their word and seem pretty unorganized when it comes to orders and transactions. I've had times where i've almost had to have someone that has gone with me to appointments, testify about the price stated at the time of appointment that they have tried to deny and mix-up. Today, I needed to pick up my contacts because my last pair ripped and it's close to closing time. I called in and asked if they could possibly wait 2-3 min after closing just in case I don't make it exactly at 5:30pm because of traffic from oakland to hayward, and the woman I spoke to (didn't get a chance to get her name, lucky her) seemed to have had her answer already prepared because as soon as I was about to finish, she cut me off and rudely said, "I don't know who's going to be here to close, everyone usually leaves exactly at closing time." She showed no desire to provide a solution or care for customer service and after I said, "Okay, thank you, goodbye." She quickly hung up without saying a word. I understand that people have places to be especially because of the holidays, however, I don't find 2-3 minutes to be impossible to work with. I've been a pretty faithful customer as I have been coming here since I was little, but for some reason, potentially good businesses tend to lack great customer service. read more

My husband is so happy that I want to go here now. Although he waited a long time for his glasses to arrive, he said it was worth the wait especially after learning it was rejected a few times at the lab before making it to him. Love Dr Z but her staff are very unorganized. They are all super nice but don't have answers for you and don't communicate well with patients. I have been getting the run around for my glasses for about a month now. Very professional and fair price for eye care. You can go low budget or pay for higher quality designer glasses. I'm with Kaiser, but since they only cover a portion of the expenses and are not as friendly, I prefer to go here and pay cash (for myself and son). your in good hands here. read more

5 stars for Dr Betty Ng and the rest of the staff. Upon my visit I was greeted by friendly front staff. I waited about 5 minutes before being called into the back which was awesome considering most places I'll wait 15-20 min even with appointment. She answered every question I had and took the time to make sure I was comfortable along the way. Highly recommend the optometry center read more

I recently purchased a pair of new glasses from here. I already had my own prescription so I'm not reviewing/rating the optometrists themselves but the rest of the staff and service. My glasses took over 3 weeks to arrive. When they finally did arrive and I went in to pick them up and get fitted the staff members took their sweet time chatting with their co-workers while in the back getting and adjusting my frames- it took an unnecessary long time to get out of there. To top that off my nose pads were clearly not sitting right on my nose and she just kept telling me everything looked fine. Disappointed in the lack of professionalism and lack of accountability these staff members had. read more

Was seen here a few months ago. Relocated from SF to Fremont and thought Id try due to the reviews. Felt rushed in and rushed out, and they tried to upsell me on their frames for almost 30 mins.
