We have Kaiser insurance, and I visit View Optical for eye tests and glasses because of the exceptional service they provide. In contrast, other stores seem primarily focused on profits and commissions. One such store, whose owner was a personal friend, is overly commission-driven. I no longer go there. On multiple visits to View Optical I have always been well treated. A couple of days ago I met with Joe to get prescription sun glasses. He was great, spent a lot of time with me, smiled through the entire process and truly seemed to care. Today two days later I picked up my glasses. It is so nice seeing clearly. I have purchased many pairs of eyeglasses, and have never had such a bad experience! I paid over $1,000 out of pocket for my glasses. My eyeglasses made me extremely dizzy and nauseated. Their optometrist (who I saw two times and was late 40 minutes for my appt) did not know what the issue was. I spoke to another optometrist at a different company recently and he explained why I was having issues with my glasses. The optometrist at View Optical and the staff who I saw do NOT know how to handle progressive lenses. After my second appt with the optometrist, she sent me to a front office staff, and said he would help me resolve the issue. Joe tells me I have to select a smaller frame. I asked him how small, and he tells me he has to see it on my face??? Really??? There are sizes on the eyeglass frames! After trying on multiple frames and being told they were not small enough, Joe chose a frame and tells me it's the right size. He took it back to the optometrist who said it was STILL too big! The optometrist told me she would call the lab manager to get his opinion. Then I find out I have to come back AGAIN to meet with the lab manager! I was DONE at that point, but was told I had to meet with the lab manager first before I could receive a refund! I finally received a call from the lab manager (Joseph) and he said he understood my issue. I asked for a complete refund. It took nearly a month and a half, and hours of wasted time since ordering my glasses to get my money back. This review is for all who wear progressive lenses. Find a place where they guide you on the proper size frame to buy. A place where the optometrist understands how progressive prescriptions affect your vision and avoid a lot of frustration and wasted time. read more

Stopped by View Optical in Fremont to get my sunglasses adjusted, and Joe was awesome. My sunglasses were bent in a really odd way and weren't easy to straighten. Joe spent a good amount of time working on them, making small adjustments until he finally got them perfect. You could tell he genuinely cared about getting it right. Super friendly guy, very knowledgeable, and never once seemed impatient. The whole staff was welcoming and professional too, which says a lot about the place. Highly recommend View Optical. View Optical has excellent service from attaining your prescriptions from Dr Zou and then choosing your glasses from any of the personnel working the front. Our experiences with Anna and Amanda have been awesome as to why we came back this year. They definitely know how to adjust glasses and are honest if glasses will fit on your face properly not looking for just a sale. Everyone wondering where they got their ratings from? So am I after this encounter. I was told that I'd get contacted by the associate within a week of when my order got in, but no call back to let me know that my purchase was going to be late. I had to initiate the call only for them to tell me "it's delayed". Unacceptable, when you promise a client "a week" they expect "a week" not a week plus "10 business days" after the week has passed, then blame it on a holiday that wasn't even near the day they ordered the product. Forced to get a $55 check up because you can't prescribe contacts w/out one, sure. It's the law, I understand. I went ahead of schedule expecting to get contacts on time, so when they promised me a time frame, and wasn't prepared to back it up it's kinda messed up. Best they could do were "trials" for an order of almost two hundred dollars of contact lenses, and the supervisor made it seem like they were doing me a favor for off brand trials. Eh.. I feel like this place is kind of a scam. I popped in here looking for frames (already had my updated prescription on hand from Costco). I ended up falling in love with some Burberry frames and sat down with a consultant to discuss putting my prescription in them. She quoted me $600, just for frames and lenses! When I mentioned it was quite expensive, she told me.. "Well, they ARE Burberry". I thanked her for her time and left.. did some online shopping and found the same frames on Glassesonweb.com. I spent $167 ($120 for frames and the rest for lenses)!!! Even on LensCrafters website the frames were only $200 MAX. I get that they are a small business and need to make money but GEEZ. Definitely would never go through with business at View Optical. IMO. UPDATE 1): I keep getting notifications of a reply to my review. Amanda has edited her response to me twice now. I should have taken a screenshot but didn't think of it at the time. Her first response was, "Sorry for your feeling we not costco". Amanda, did you even read my review?! LOL. Second revision of her reply was, "Sorry for your feeling" and now she has updated it ONCE AGAIN to add some punctuation to her sentence, "Sorry for your feeling." I am so glad I did not do business with View Optical.. they are extremely unprofessional. UPDATE 2:) I wish I could directly respond to Amanda rather than continue to update my review in order to communicate with her, but oh well. Amanda, you have updated your reply to me several times throughout odd hours of the night.. (I attached a screenshot). Apparently you have time on your hands, but still could not grasp the point I made in my original review. All I said was that your prices are extremely high and that I found the same authentic frames and got my prescription put in them for a fraction of the price you quoted me, elsewhere. My first two photos attached DO in fact reflect the price you quoted me, and my third picture shows that I found the frames CHEAPER from a different establishment. If I want to describe your business as a scam and unprofessional because of your ridiculous prices and sassy attitude then I CAN. I got my prescription sunglasses done recently, as I was using it one of the glass popped out from the frame. When I went to the shop, after explaining what had happened. The tech told me that it's nothing new this happens all the time. Which made me very upset. It was a very expensive frame and I have barely used them. She was just trying to find an excuse. Earlier today 1/12/2026 I received a call saying that my glasses are ready to be picked up. When I went to the shop I was helped by the same tech and when she gave me my glasses the frame was still sticking out. When I questioned she explained to me that because my prescription was very thick they could not place the whole glass in the frame. This was a very disappointing experience. They are very irresponsible and disrespectful. I would not want anyone to go through this experience. They are simply very disrespectful and all about making money and not doing their job properly. Very fast turn around process. After calling a few places closer to me in the San Jose area, I luckily found this optical eyeglasses store! My son had scratched the lense on his glasses up pretty bad and we were in need of a same day or quick turn around process. I called in to the store around 12 pm yesterday 12/20 to inquire about their services and they let me know that they could either do same day or next day dependent on the time I came. We ended up going around 5 pm that same day to pick out his glasses & see about fixing his old pair. We were greeted with a friendly and welcoming manner from both of the staff working. Natalie was the one to help us out. It was a quick and easy process, Natalie let us know they should be ready by the following day in the afternoon.
