    Update from old location... Just as expected, Dr. Li is awesome! The new location has a very fresh modern feel to it. They have very new technology that I haven't seen in other offices! After having my eyes tested by the machines, it's uploaded​ to a tablet that goes straight to Dr. Li. Pretty cool... Also, after Dr. Li tests my eyes, he takes the readings and has these " dummy "glasses that gives you a feel of what you'll be expecting to see out of... but the MOST IMPRESSIVE thing here is that I WAS ABLE TO CHOOSE AND GET MY GLASSES THE SAME DAY #MindBlown As far as insurance, they take VSP.. not sure what else. Lastly, you are able to make appointments on line easily, and will get an email confirmation soon after. BOTTOM LINE: if you need an optometrist, Dr.Li is the one to have! He's very thorough and informative! From insurance, to medical concerns (eye related of course), he can pretty much address them! Old location review: I was looking for a NEW Optometrist in Fremont, and decided to try the one inside WalMart. Office: located in the front of the cash registers, past the Optical Department. Front desk: the receptionist was friendly. She will be the one to check you in and do the initial eye testing. Doctor: Dr.Li is very up beat and friendly. He's easy to talk to and addressess all questions you may have throughly. Had my eye appointment, and he noticed that my eyes were dry. He said the dryness may effect my vision test so he gave me drops to use for a week, so he can get accurate testing. Came back the following week and noticed an improvement. I was then was fitted for contacts. He gave me ones to try that may be better for my eyes. Gave a good explanation about the difference between astigmatism ones and regular ones. Had me try it out for a week to make I was fine with the trial before I ordered them. Came back, and ordered contacts. I told him I was concerned about the cost so he looked up the difference between the cost and quality for Equate vs. Name Brand vs. 1800Contscts vs. Walmart. Walmart was the best deal. He walked me over next door, and had Chris help me out. (See my next review for the Optical department at Walmart... Chris was fantastic! )

Two years ago, I encountered an unfamiliar situation regarding my eye exam and contact lenses for the first time. As I was new to the process, I felt a bit lost. After receiving my glasses, I decided to visit another optometry office for my contact lens prescription and exam to avoid the hassle of returning to Fremont constantly, especially since I live quite a distance away. However, I found that making the trip once a year for my family's check-ups was reasonable. Last year, my children, husband, and I had the pleasure of being seen by Dr. Young. She was incredibly kind and understanding, recommending that I consider both contact lenses and glasses during my visit. I appreciated her approach as it allowed me to take my time in making a decision without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. This year's experience exceeded my expectations. Just four days after purchasing new glasses, my daughter accidentally broke hers. However, Annel, one of the staff members, went above and beyond to assist us. Her kindness and attentiveness made me feel truly heard and valued. There was a moment where I contemplated switching to a different optometry office after two decades of loyalty, but after these recent positive interactions, I've decided to remain with Tri-City. I feel grateful not only for the wonderful care we receive but also for the improvements in staff that have made our experiences even better.

Dr. Shital Chatwani rushes through the appointment, speaks down to the patient, does not answer questions clearly, and becomes visibly impatient when questions are asked. The entire interaction felt less like a medical appointment and the clear priority seemed to be getting the patient out quickly and into ordering expensive glasses, rather than taking time to explain things or address concerns. It honestly felt like dealing with a businessperson more than a doctor. Unfortunately, the poor experience did not stop with the doctor. The overall leadership and culture of this office seems weak, and it shows in the behavior of the staff. There are many employees walking around, yet when customers have questions, they often say "I'm busy" and walk away without offering to find someone else to help. In a professional practice, you would expect at least a basic effort to redirect you to another staff member. That simply does not happen here. The staff appear selectively nice to people they are trying to secure business from but otherwise the service is consistently rude, rushed, and unhelpful. The overall attitude is 'take it or leave it.' Even when there is no problem, you are treated with disregard. If there is a problem, I would not trust this office to handle it with care or professionalism. There are many excellent optometrists who accept VSP and other insurance plans. I strongly encourage people to look elsewhere and consciously choose to support a practice that actually respects its patients.

The next morning, the pain was getting worse and I was pretty desperate to get an immediate appointment into any optometry office. Most optometry offices open at 10am, but this one opens at 9am and I was lucky enough to get in for a 10:30 opening. Once I arrived, I got checked in pretty quickly. The staff there were all very pleasant and friendly. Soon after, I was in the exam room and Dr. Kimberly Haw came in. Dr. Haw was also very friendly and down to earth. I appreciated that she was very frank and straightforward about the potential level of injury that my eye could have sustained, yet also had a sense of humor that put me at ease. After examining my eye with some nifty gadgets, she was able to see that I had an abrasion on my cornea. She explained the condition, treatment plan - antibiotic drops, and things to look out for. I was originally just looking for ANY optometrist that would see me for my eye injury, but after my visit and positive experience today, I will return to Fremont Optometric Vision Care Center ongoing as a regular customer for my annual eye exams. Not that I plan to injure my eyes anymore, but if it happens again, Dr. Haw said to give their office a call as it is their practice to get people with eye injuries into the office ASAP for care. BTW, wear safety goggles when dealing with trees! I was just picking some dumb oranges when a random branch shot in at an angle right into my eyeball.

    They ordered me the wrong prescription contact lenses. The power was wrong. They replaced them in a…read morecolor I don't normally wear but was trying. The color was awful and they do not do returns on unopened lenses. I am stuck with this after the delay in getting them filled to start with. They don't communicate well and do not offer samples if you don't get the exam with them. When ordering I asked for a visual chart to show the color options. They have none. You have to order off names alone or look it up online yourself. I heard sorry a thousand times in this process but the final point is as the same. SOL too bad. I have since gone to an online provider that walks you through options and a good match with an exchange policy for unopened lenses. And I can actually see what i'm ordering. I thought buying contacts from the same place I buy dish soap and feminine products from was a good idea- wrong.
