a variety of sweets in a plastic container

Awesome treat shop! The woman working is incredibly kind and helpful with navigating the variety of treats. I never had Turkish sweets before and was a little intimidated at first by the appearance with the nuts included in the rolls but she helped guide me to the ones she thought I might like and I absolutely loved them! The pomegranate flavor is so good and there's a pomegranate with blueberry that's probably my favorite. They make a great gift option for something different to take to a host at a dinner or to give to a friend or just for yourself and family as a special snack. They also have lots of flavored nuts and bulk candy, mostly gummies. I will definitely be coming back! I'm so happy this shop is nearby!

Their nuts are old and stale- last 2 trips we had to throw nuts in garbage as it was so old- Only the first week they open it was nice and fresh- Service- pretty ok- ladies at counter are friendly. Store- clean and nice decorations

The Baklava is really good. The powdered tea was yummy as well. Disappointed because they didn't have tea or coffee brewed.

I bought some aromatic spices that were recommended, as well as some teas and Turkish delight.

When I walk in, I notice the stores are well-organized with phenomenal displays. I value that Mariano's stores typically have a wide variety and selection. I have appreciated the ability to obtain prepared foods at Mariano's, including delicacies like sushi. I have found other great prepared foods at Mariano's that I enjoyed a lot, e.g,. succulent beef pot roast. It is fantastic that Mariano's have self checkout kiosks, which can help with convenience. There are also a significant number of Mariano's stores in Chicagoland.

I didn't post about my bad experience last time because I was giving them a chance to prove I was wrong. Two days ago I picked up my grocery order, and it will be the last time I shopped at the store, Park Ridge is seven more minutes down the street and they have intelligent workers. Mariano's charged me $2.99 for an expired milk which clearly had a label on it reduced to $1.35 well who the hell wants to buy expired milk? They gave me moldy old strawberries, my bread was smashed, the green pepper and onion in my bag were moldy and rotten. What is wrong with these people, in my world it's because they don't give a shit. I will give Mariano's credit as you can go on the app and instantly receive a refund, but it's not the point.

He then told me, "you people are not welcome here." This was blatant racial profiling. Instead of treating me with respect as a customer, I was humiliated, judged unfairly, and made to feel unwelcome because of my race. I left the store feeling deeply hurt and shocked that this could happen in 2025. No customer should ever be treated this way. For a manager to behave like this makes it even more disturbing. Businesses should be safe, welcoming spaces for everyone, and this type of discrimination cannot be ignored. I am sharing my experience to warn others and to urge corporate to hold this location accountable.

Today, I did not find what I needed so I will have to try again tomorrow. This store has a nice variety of items for the value and it's a "sister" store of TJ's for those who don't know. The store offers self-checkout which is quick and the shelves are pretty well stocked with many different items especially now for the holidays. Update: Went to the Niles location and found the items I needed. Aldi has the best European dark and milk chocolate which are made in Germany, Rainforest Alliance Certified. Milka chocolate is another brand that sometimes you can find at Aldi but other stores like World Market or Fresh Farms store in Chicago has many times from this brand.
