We had food at this restaurant and the server threw the plate on the table as if she is feeding animals. Please teach your staff how to serve especially when there is already a mix up with the orders. There is no reason to show anger and attitude towards a customer. read more

Wow! I didn't think it could get much worse... It took 45 minutes to get our food. Our waitress blamed it on a table that had just finished paying its bill when we had first arrived. We asked her about the delay with our food and she lied to our face. Then she said "let's see what I can do.." She did nothing except spike our drink so hopefully we wouldn't remember the terrible service...... Too bad..we've had enough.. Too bad they fell so fast.. read more

This is a unique flavor of food and great exoerience. Mexican and Hawaiin mixed with deliciousness. Very personal staff and fun atmosphere. I have loved everything I have eaten here. Their sopapaillas are a must for after dinner. Maybe before:) 4 stars due to slow service and meals arriving at much different times for patrons in our party but still a favorite. Just don't be in a time crunch read more

The food is da bomb, legit New Mexican flavors. Who cares if they are slow, when the food is that good I'd wait all day. Real flavorful ingredients reminiscent of true New Mexican food. And who has real deal sopapillas anymore? I haven't had a real sopapilla since leaving Texas/Nm in my rear view. We'll definitely be frequenting this spot. Christmas enchiladas are amazing. Can't wait to eat there again and again! read more

We love this place! The Margaritas are absolutely amazing! All the food is made from scratch and truly delicious.

My wife and I ate dinner here last Sunday. The ambiance is, well a funky dive. But I'm not saying that in a negative way. It has a fun atmosphere and the place is very laid back. The food though, was different. My wife ordered a taco salad. She asked for no meat. What she got was 90% shredded lettuce with a few beans at the bottom. No tomatoes, no flavors, no nothing. I ordered a carne asada burrito. It was huge and very tasty. It was so big that my wife ate part of it to make up for the lack of calories in her own order. So, summing up, two stars. read more

We chose this place because it looked "loved" even from the outside. It looked like the owners were proud of what they had, who they were, and sharing it with others. The restaurant is cute, and authentic both inside and out. It's unusual to find New Mexican Style Mexican food anywhere, let alone in the Pacific Northwest, and it is even more unusual to find it as authentic as this is. They do a nice job of bringing the Southwest up North. THIS is a little piece of New Mexico in Washington. Things I especially liked about this place were 1) Their beans are whole, and vegetarian, 2) They have a variety of favorite, bottled hot sauces available from Tapatio, to Tabasco, 3) So much of their food either is, or seems to be homemade, even the chips! Just not that if you ask for salsa, you'll get chopped tomatoes, onions, and spices. It's not the usual salsa one expects in a Mexican restaurant. Hey, vegetarians, they make a spicy, hot "Red" sauce that is completely vegetarian. It's unusual for veggies to find anything to eat at a Mexican restaurants, but even Vegans would fare well here. We liked this place, we like the big, $10 margarita, and we like the big, $10 nachos. The ambiance was great, the atmosphere was great, and the service was beyond reproach. It definitely made me just a bit homesick, but happy to find good, Southwest food this far from home. read more

Second day of restaurants being open. This was the first place on my mind to get that meal in doors to full fill my needs of comfort food that will never leave me hungry. I got the breakfast burrito which you not find one like this anywhere else in washing cause it's new Mexican grown . I can't say enough how delicious the burrito is and so many scratched Made ingredients. Love it and my server was very sweet. Enjoyed it down with a bloody Mary as well read more

My husband and I tried The New Mexicans for a late breakfast, and were absolutely blown away by the food and staff. We knew we had to try their cinnamon rolls, but we also wanted a good amount of food for lunch, so we ordered one cinnamon roll and The Stacker to split (eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and chopped potatoes). Boy, we were fools haha! When we got the cinnamon roll, it was the size of a child's basketball. It was HUGE. And delicious. Then came The Stacker, on two separate plates. Each plate looked like it could have been one serving in itself, so we were baffled that this was what one serving looked like. $15 for two plates full of food? That's a steal. And guys, the gravy was the bomb. The bacon was thick and crispy. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the potatoes were seasoned great. This may sound like an exaggeration, but it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had at a restaurant. The staff was also super friendly and checked in on us a few times. But one thing that really stood out was that while we were dining there, they took a take out box with food it in outside to a homeless man. Good character, good food. You can't get any better than that. read more

After hearing about this place for the last few months from our customers. We decided to come check it out. I must say that every word we heard was under stated. From the time we walked through the door, we were greeted with a smile and invited to sit center stage. Excellent food, large portions. Variety of American and Mexican. It gets busy. So you have to wait for food a bit but it's worth it.

Great for breakfast and pastries but not great for dinner. The wait for tables is long and awkward during the dinner rush as there is no where for people to really stand so your pretty much standing over the sat tables. The waitstaff I've had in the past have always been fine but the last server we had for dinner had a very dry sense of humor, which I'm into but isn't the greatest for table service. Overall our service was fine and things came out in a timely manner but food was pretty bland. So two stars down for food and not just hiring a host so they can call or text when your table is ready. read more

Owned and operated by the sweetest family I could think of, The New Mexicans created the best "down home" vibe in Everett. My boyfriend took me to this restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon. They were very attentive as soon as we walked in the door. The staff is friendly and you can tell that they are working their best to be as efficient as posible while also providing excellent customer service. While waiting for our food the owner noticed that I had to put on my boyfriends jacket because I was too cold and she took initiative and turned the AC down for me without me saying a word. The food was phenomenal! We ordered a full meal and desert and got some to go. We did order a cinnamon roll to go but they forgot to put it on the bill so they gave it to us for free. This is a place that I want to go to consistently as long as I live in the area. read more

Ok, look. I'm definitely a "give grace" kind of guy. I really am. But after four trips to this place (my wife likes it) I have finally settled on how I truly feel about The New Mexicans. First the good: *** Hatch Chiles for the win! For those who don't know, Hatch Chiles are named for the city in New Mexico where they are grown. They have a very distinctive flavor and heat profile that's entirely unique to food made with them. Delicious. If you want to taste a great example of Hatch cuisine, give this place a shot. *** SWEET TEA. This, for a Southern boy, is almost enough to get me to come here. Because, no, "we have sugar packets on the table" is not the same thing. Now the rest. The service each of the four times we have been in has been marginal or worse. The second time we went in there, we were one of two parties in the place and it was near impossible to get the wait staff to come to our table. Each time has been relatively similar Also, the food (outside the Hatch chiles) is just kinda so-so, and the high-ish prices make it definitely not worth it. On one trip, I ordered a burger and fries. That's super hard to mess up. The burger was a near-impossible combination of overcooked yet served cold. When I brought it to the attention of the server, I was told that maybe it just seemed cold to me, but it actually wasn't cold. I'm still not sure what that meant, but the burger was cold. Not much explanation is necessary beyond that. All in all, there are far better places to eat in Everett. I'm sure we'll be back (happy wife + happy life), but if you can avoid it, I would suggest you do. read more

I came here on my way to a hike at Lake 22. My husband and I didn't know what to order, but afterwards, decided on the Breakfast Burrito and the Carne Asada Burrito. The wait time for the food did take a while, but they were both HUMONGOUS. The breakfast burrito was larger, with eggs, choice of meat (we chose sausage), and potatoes, with some gravy on top, and the carne asada one was more beef with rice and beans, which was almost like chili to me. The flavors of both were very different, but still amazing! It was a good carb-load for our 5.4 mile hike! We both only ate half, and packed the rest for later :) I also overheard the server say they had $2 mimosas (on a Sunday, at least). I saw HH prices posted on the wall, and margaritas are super cheap if you buy in a large pitcher! Everything here seems to be very reasonably priced for portions! read more

The New Mexicans is just ok. Food is true to the Tex-Mex style. I visited a few months ago and got the psole and enchiladas. The enchiladas were good, lots of cheese. The psole was average and will not hit the spot if you are looking for authentic psole. I had arrived right as they opened and chalked it up to being yesterdays food, reheated. Today I walked over for lunch and ordered to-go. For a burrito and cinnamon roll it was $26. The burrito was $16 and the roll is $5, however, they decided to "auto charge" a 15% gratuity / tip for placing my food in the box. Then on the receipt it had a spot to leave an additional tip (so if you dont notice they auto charge you, you might accidentally tip twice.) No thank you. When I asked why I was being charged over $4 for a tip I was told it was "mandatory on all to go orders". The lady/waitresses attitude was unpleasant. This place has potential and I have heard from other locals that the services is mediocre but I had to experience it for myself. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. read more

Came here for a Mother's Day celebration and didn't have too much of a problem getting in to find a table. But they were super busy and the service suffered a little bit that evening to try and keep up with the bigger groups that were having dinner. There was literally a table of folks that was 16 people, plus a second part of their group that had another 8-10 people at another table, so they were priority number 1 for the staff. I get that, but it still took a long time to get our drink order in and had to ask for our chips as well as our check at the end of the evening. Small snafus aside, the food was all very good. They make the tortilla chips in-house, so they are super thick and hold up well to the chunky salsa and the thick guacamole. Both the salsa and guac could have used a touch more seasoning to bring out the flavors, but on the salty bites you could tell that everything was super fresh and had a nice flavor. For my entree I had their pork spare ribs, this was a big slab of fall of the bone tender ribs. They had a fair amount of bbq sauce on them that had the lightest hint of some spice. I wouldn't have minded a little more of the sauce for the meat, but it was enough to cover it all, so it really comes down to the fact that I like my bbq saucy. I got to pick two sides and had their baked beans which were really good with a bit of sausage in them, and their potato salad which wasn't as good. It was very heavily dressed and seemed to have more hard boiled egg in them than actual potato. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, mom had the taco salad, but thought she ordered it with chicken that was missing from it, and dad had the chicken tacos. There were huge knife and fork style of tacos, unless you wanted to make a huge mess and try to pick them up. Their drinks were good, we had the happy hour margaritas and they were made from scratch, so had an extra sour lime flavor and had enough of the good stuff in them that you could taste the alcohol. Since it was so busy I'm willing to give the staff the benefit of the doubt about the quality of service, and the food itself was mostly delicious enough to warrant a second visit the next time I head up north and need a bite to eat when I'm in Everett. read more

Wholesome ingredients. The smoked chicken is extremely yummy! My fav is the smoked chicken enchiladas with pinto beans.

I'll start with the food and work my way around. The food was O.K. I had the nachos which I shared with my 3 year old, my husband had the beef (carne asada) burrito. They handed me my nachos in a bowl, all the of excess juices sunk to the bottom which by the time I got to the chips on the bottom (which for $14 wasn't many.) they were soggy and it had turned into a soup. Bad idea serving it in a bowl. Typical nachos, nothing I was hyped about, i'd say charge more like $7, not $14. My husband's taco, in his words "was the most average burrito, i could of made it at home..." The restaurant was pretty packed since there was something going on, on Colby Ave. Didn't bother me much, except the waiter ignored us after he sat us down. The dining area isn't big, it takes you less than 5 seconds to walk from one side to the other. There was maybe 7 other people in there besides us. So, packed yes, but not busy. We weren't given a menu for at least 10 minutes. We were passed by the staff many, many times. We weren't offered to order any drinks and ended up eating out meals with just water. We weren't visited again by the staff at all the entire time we were eating. I had to go get my own hot sauce off a counter, it was just a mess. When my 3 year old was starting to get fussy, we kept getting glared at by the man that sat us down when we first arrived. I felt like we were being bullied out of the resturant. We weren't bothering anyone, and she was just getting bored and hungry. That wasn't very welcoming. All in all, I'd recommend going some place else if you want a night out. read more

Can we talk about how amazing the homemade tortilla chips are in this place?! LOVE! Despite how busy they were on this chilly Friday night, the staff kept their cool! Super courteous staff and delicious margarita!!!! I'm a tequila queen btw. I'm also super snobby about the quality of my margarita and this place did not disappoint! I had the nachos and my husband had the burrito. It was very delicious. I'm really excited for my next visits! I'm definitely going to check out their breakfast next time I come in! read more

Last night we had a party of 8 diners gather for a family dinner at The New Mexicans on Hewitt Ave. None of us had been there before but we had heard good things from most of the people we asked , so it came highly recommended. So to be fair let me be clear that I am basing this review on one visit which I appreciate may not be totally fair but we were promised a lot from the menu and it was so far off the mark I feel like a warning to future diners is merited. The service was friendly and efficient except that the drinks which we ordered well before our food arrived just before the first round of food. Yes a huge pet peeve of mine. Half of us had our food and waited at least 5 minutes for the rest of it to be served The menu wasn't particularly inspired, but seemed to hit the New Mexican staples of Tex Mex cuisine featuring Enchiladas, Nachos, Tacos and BBQ. Diners are greeted by the front of the menu featuring breakfast but there was no indication on the menu that breakfast was served all day and although I could have asked it would have been nice to know if breakfast items were an option. I might have opted for that. The menu also boasts in several places as well as in signage in the restaurant that " Portions Are Big" " Split Plate Charge $1". Before the food was served I appreciated that as a really nice way to alert diners that they shouldn't over order and it made sense to share. Unfortunately, its just not accurate. Don't get me wrong, the portions were fine, but by no means were they large enough to call it out on the menu as a feature and frankly compared your favorite local Mexican joint they were small. As for the actual food quality. We had 3 kids with us that that all ate Mac & Cheese, they all ate it with only one of them describing it as too cheesy but all of them stating it wasn't hot. Two of us split the Green Enchiladas, they said they we good but for the one item on the menu that our party chose to split it was not big enough for two adults to share as their dinner. They ordered a Caesar salad to supplement, which was a bit over dressed but fine. One diner ate the nachos, which looked great upon delivery to the table. The chips in the nachos were described as good but again the complaint was that they we not the appropriately warm temperature. We also ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Several sauce choices were offered and we selected the Jalapeno sauce. The pork was tender but unforgivably dry it needed at least twice the amount of sauce that was on it. I know the management agrees because on their website is a picture of a beautifully glistening pile of perfectly sauced BBQ on a bun. Its also disappointing when you order something described as "Jalapeno" and you have trouble locating the evidence that they are in there either by the presence of pieces of the chilies or at least their flavor, neither existed in this example of Jalapeno BBQ Sauce . The biggest disappointment of the experience at The New Mexicans came by way of the absolute saddest bowl of Pasole (Pazole) I have ever had the displeasure of tasting. Its not the kind of thing you see on every menu and that is exactly why I ordered it. I had a choice of a roll or cornbread , I chose the cornbread. If you are not familiar with Pasole it is essentially a cut of pork simmered in broth with aromatics, chilies and spices with hominy and served as a broth based stew. What I was served was a bowl of luke warm paste that tasted of the smoked Hatch chilies and nothing else. It was garnished with sour cream which was totally unnecessary and to add insult to injury made the bowl of soup nearly completely cold. Sitting on top of the sour cream a sad , dried up shriveled sprig of cilantro stems. It may have been a bit warm when it was served but to remind you , It sat in front of me for 5 minutes while I waited for the rest of the table to get their food. The corn bread was grilled and gave the impression that it would be warm but it was ice cold, like out of the fridge cold and as if this piece of cornbread was trying to kick me while I was down it tasted like the rancid burnt oil that collects in the trough on the front of a commercial griddle. since the outside was disgusting I dug into the middle it was so dry I literally choked. I went to put some butter that was served along with it but it was curdled. Finally in one last giant middle finger up from The New Mexicans to me the diner, I flipped that cornbread over and it was black. I don't know if its the B team that works on Sundays in the kitchen at The New Mexicans but they need help. It wasn't busy, there were empty tables and the wait staff had time to socialize with patrons. From my experience the guy that was in the kitchen cooking clearly wanted to be somewhere else. read more

The New Mexicans - Pasty Pasole and Burnt Corn Bread at The New Mexicans. So sad. - New Mexican Cuisine Near Me - Everett, Washington

WARNING: if you're looking for a Mexican restaurant, this ain't it. The enchiladas and burritos have this really weird tang to them, and nothing tastes remotely like Mexican food. After tasting both I said "Well at least they can't ruin a sopapilla".... boy was I surprised. The sopapillas were bland and had no cinnamon, sugar, NOTHING on top, tasted like beer batter, and the only topping they came with was butter. The food resembles Mexican food, but tastes like an American TV dinner version. After ordering we were told it'd be 20 mins, and so we came back a little over 20 mins later to stand around waiting for 10 mins before we were asked what we were there for. read more

Nice family vibe here, friendly staff, casual atmosphere, God food, alot of cheese, we think it could be better with a bit less. They only had 2 entrees that had no meat. I got the green enchilada, was really good, small portion compared to my bf's smoked chicken enchilada which was 4x the size of my extra small one, which was plenty of food for me that say. His was ginormous he couldn't finish. He loved his bowl of green pork stew thing. The chips and salsa were good thick hearty (a bit tough) chips a bit over fried tho, brown. The guacamole was delish, generous portion. They have lots of commercial hot sauces available to use, fun. The service started out slow, they forgot about us I think, no chips, no drinks, but when reminded, we'd been sitting at least for 15 minutes w just water, they stepped up and brought us our chips, drinks. It appens, there were 2 other tables with 2 couples, so it was wierd, but thete was a full on party in the backroom. But hey, don't forget about your customers in front! ;) Place filled up fast after we got our chips, nice to see they are doing good business, we'd go back again, hopefully they will make some special vegetarian specific dishes with gluten free alternatives options. They chicken enchilada is amazing and so is everything else. My kids love the chicken and dumpling soup. Would highly recommend.

I went with a friend a couple hours before a hockey game and this place was PACKED!! We sat at the bar and we were a little crowded for the first 20 minutes or so, but it emptied out before our food arrived. The person working behind the bar actually came and took a couple of the stools away so people didn't get seated next to us again and swapped out our backless stools for raised chairs with backs on them. Talk about great service! If the service was great, the food was outstanding! I ordered a chili dog thinking "it can't be too huge..." I was still laughing about that thought as I ate the second half for lunch the next day. It was literally a foot-long dog with a 14" bun slathered in delicious chili. It was a similar situation for my friend with her burrito. As we were sitting there, we spotted the giant mound of cinnamon rolls sitting on the counter and had to order one to go. I asked the server to grab the one with the most frosting and he hooked us up by scraping all the extra frosting from the pan an adding it to the top of the cinnamon roll. It took us 3 breakfasts to finish the entire thing! This place was a little divey and a little crowded but in a good way. After a couple happy hour margaritas I was sad to leave. read more
