Not Mexican food. How can you call yourselves Mexican grill? Using store bought taco shells that aren't made from scratch and brought to the table soggy from sitting is not ideal. It was depressing since I was looking forward to some good Mexican food and this plate showed up. Rice was bland and is not considered Spanish rice in my opinion. Also, ceviché was good, however tostada shells were not brought out with the plate. Where I am from you eat ceviché with tostada shells. Love the salsa bar although the server didn't initially inform us what it was until our food had arrived. I would have liked it with their chips. We dropped in this afternoon and had a really nice meal. Two of us split the fajitas plate, which was plenty of food. The service was attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. They brought over a basket of warm, crispy chips and a dish of warm bean dip. They also directed us to the salsa bar, which has five kinds of salsa. And, when we asked for more tortillas (both kinds), they made them up and brought them over quite promptly. We definitely plan to return! read more

Have only been here a time or two for dinner but had heard the breakfast was awesome and wanted to give it a shot. I had to call because yelp said they opened at noon but this was not the case! We came in and there weren't many people in there at all, I'm sure there'd be more if people knew it was open. We had the carne asada scramble and the papas spicy scramble and both were excellent! You can do a half order shown here which is a ton of food or you can get the full which is still a great deal Mimosas and bloody Mary's are $5 and great as well. Thank you Papa's! It was AquaFest weekend. It was packed in Lake Stevens downtown. 10 plus of us, hungry cyclists needed to eat and have drinks. One of our members found Papa's and we had our food and drinks here. They were very accommodating with such a big group. I ordered a medium size beer and a combo platter. Beer was cold and refreshing and my platter was yummy. I love that they have a salsa bar you can pick different salsa from. Because of the beer and salsa & chips, I ended up packing majority of the food. And, I forgot to take my leftovers with me! So sad! Regardless, I was happy with this place! This place is beyond great! I was excited to have a new Mexican food restaurant in Lake Stevens even though I was sad to see Alfy's go, but I am so glad we came here! The workers are super nice, attentive and speedy. I think some things get lost in translation and some items get forgotten, or the order comes back a little wrong but who cares?! They always fix their mistakes and do so very quickly. I'm a big fan of their veggie fajitas and shrimp burritos. They have a salsa bar with a big selection of delicious salsas to choose from and everything tastes very fresh. I have yet to try a Margarita (crazy, I know) but the grande is everything that the name says! HUGE! Most people up here really don't know what good Mexican food is... but this place is very good and reminds me of San Diego. Tonight I had the steak and shrimp and it was delicious! I know I am a Mexican food snob, but its kinda my jam so I'll stick to it. I came in here at around 1-2pm, thinking there would be some kind of lunch rush I was surprised that only 2 other people were there. We looked over a menu that I felt lacked choices but ordered the Chimichanga and my son ordered the quesadilla. The chips and bean dip were good and I enjoyed the self serve salsa bar. The waiter was the best part, he was so attentive and even brought out some salsas for us to try and a sample of a juice he had just made. Unfortunately the great service did not cover up the underwhelming food we ate. The sauces on the chimichanga weren't my favorite and the rice was very flavorless. My son and I had to drench our food in salsa to get some flavor out of it. We left with not much desire to return and were sad it was not better. read more

Once inside, the place is clean and welcoming. Looks like a great neighborhood hangout. Terrible. Service was busy, I get that... But asking for water 4 times from different people and not getting it is ridiculous. The drinks were mostly ice. My enchiladas were cold, and packed full of unmelted kraft American cheese. I'm pretty sure the beans were Rosarita, and the rice was Uncle Ben's. Stopped by Papa's on a whim after a big snowy hike when we decided we wanted warm food. It will now be my new go to spot after hikes up in the granite falls area! When we walked in the host was super polite and nice and led us to the table right away. They had the specials on a sign right by the door so you knew what they were. Today was the strawberry mojito and carne asada. After being seated out waiter brought chips and this yummy bean/cheese/salsa thing out to us, and when we finished the basket of chips he promptly brought us another with more of the mix. We then ordered our drinks (the special mojito) and our food (2 carne asadas and a taco soup). The drinks were out asap and were absolutely delicious. If we didn't have to drive we would've had a couple! the food was out super soon afterwards and was a huge delicious serving. The carne asada was tender and juicy and huge, and the rice and beans were great along with the tortillas they rolled in foil to keep them warm. Everyone left ether very full or with leftovers and the waiter was left with a great tip. Will definitely be stopping by here again. Yum! read more

A friend of ours said we had to try this place and we have not looked back since. It's now been over a month straight that we've gone 1-2 times a week. I keep getting the Enchiladas Supreme which comes with a ground beef, a cheese, and a chicken enchilada plus rice and beans. My wife has been getting the Sizzling Enchilada Trio. This comes on a hot fajita-like plate with grilled chicken, cheese, and steak enchiladas. All 5 of the different enchiladas I just mentioned are delicious. Our friends get something different every time they go and love it all. Plus they have a salsa bar that you get to choose which salsa you want for your chips (which are very tasty). Great food and great drinks are what we look for in a restaurant. This is currently our go-to restaurant in Lake Stevens. read more

Came in for the first time, we just moved into lake Stevens and we are trying to find our new "spots" I am a salsa person. I was thrilled with the salsa bar! They kept the chips and beans flowing and I got to try all of them! I also love that the rice isn't already made in a tomato base and I'm able to mix whatever salsa I'd like in and make it my own. Terrible food.... The service wasn't bad, but the food was terrible. My boyfriend ordered Arroz Con Pollo and what came out was far from Arroz Con Pollo. It looked like Pollo la Crema but had a sort of Velveta-like queso cheese on it. More than just on it actually, it was bathing in this cheese. To put this cheese in perspective, it had like a skin on it, that's how cheap it was. Furthermore, the server KNEW that it didn't look right because when we went to ask him about it, he asked if we thought it was Pollo la Crema. Sir, this should have red sauce... not queso on it. I had fajias which were ok.... nothing to write home about. It does have a salsa bar which is a nice touch and the margarita wasn't bad... but I would avoid the food at all cost.
