We stopped here for dinner around 4:15pm on a Friday and were seated right away. The place was already hopping and got busier as time passed by. Despite the sketchy location, the restaurant was clean. I ordered the carnitas plate, and let me tell you, it was a winner! I should have brought half of it home, but I couldn't stop myself. The pork was perfectly cooked, and their refried beans are excellent. My boyfriend ordered the chile relleno and two street tacos--beef and lengua. The chile relleno was decent. The tacos were not worth repeating. The lengua had a gamey taste, and the beef was super greasy. The complimentary chips and salsa are okay. Their horchata is good. This is the first review I've felt the need to leave on yelp, because this was such a bizarre experience (probably the first time I've experienced something like this). The food was delicious. One of the better Mexican places I've been to in WA. The service was extremely odd though. The waitress was nice enough but seemed a little annoyed with having to help us. Not a big deal, I work in the food industry so I get it. But for a $47 bill I paid with $60 cash. At first she had to get someone to help her with the register and they pulled money out of the tip jar, (I assumed they were short in the cash register and were grabbing some extra for our change.) However they finished up, and our waitress just moved on. We were one of two customers in the store, so it wasn't like she was busy with other tables. We waited about 5 minutes for her to bring the change. Eventually she came to our table again seemingly unaware of why we were still there. I had to ask for the change, and there no explanation for why she never brought it, or an apology - she even seemed surprised we wanted it. I had planned on tipping all the change anyway, but have never had a server just assume a customer's change was automatically going towards a tip. I'm sure there could be non malicious explanations, but it was just so weird and off putting. Definitely makes me feel conflicted about returning which is a shame, bc again, the food is really good. read more

We were debating what to eat for dinner and decided on Mexican food! This place is in an old shopping strip, where a teriyaki and pho/bubble tea spot are next to it! Small place and friendly. At least it wasn't too crowded for a Sunday! I saw that they had refreshers and LOVED the tamarindo! It reminds me of the first time I had tried it at a Guatemalan restaurant. My bf tried mine and wanted to get one too so we cheered to that! The food was fast to our table, we were a little surprised! I got the taquitos rancheros with pinto beans and it was fresh and piping hot! My bf got the Tacos Vampiros with Consommé sauce! Our waitress wasn't that nice but she got the job done ordered menudo my husband said it was mid, i ordered the torta ahogada flavor was good but no meat and just a bunch of fat pieces. Ordered 2 order of tacos de barbacoa dam they were too expensive and so bad. They charged extra for consome which waitress didn't tell us when she offered it. So much lack of taste. Ordered huevo con chorizo that chorizo came out burnt! Like burnt the egg tasted so bad returned to kitchen, and just ordered just eggs and still got charged for same price. The fact the kitchen still served that was a no. Kids taco only came with one most places with 2. Diet coke tasted like water they probably haven't changed the soda bag. My wife and I went to La Teraza a few months after she returned from Two years in Mexico. It was a Saturday evening. The place was packed but the waitress found a seat for us. We could just tell dinner was going to be great. We were not disappointed. My wife said, " If there was a restaurant as good as this near the place I stayed I would have eaten there a lot!" My friend and I stopped by here on our drive to Seattle and I'm so glad we did! We both loved our meal here. We arrived on a Wed evening around 6:15 and it was fairly empty. It looks like they renovated recently, since the ambience is much nicer than in the older Yelp pictures I saw. We were starving when we got here, so we ordered quickly after perusing the menu. I had the Costillas de Res ($18.99), which is a grilled beef rib plate, and he had a vegetarian deluxe burrito ($12.99). They also give you complimentary chips and salsa when you get seated. Portions were pretty big for both of us. I don't know about my friend, but I was definitely struggling to finish the last couple bites. The grilled beef was perhaps a bit overdone, but I still enjoyed the charred flavor. It was a lot of work (and messy too!) to eat it with the flour tortillas and everything else on the plate, but I really enjoyed my meal. This place is exactly what I need when I'm craving authentic Mexican food, which is all the time these days! (Pregnancy cravings have me eating my body weight in tacos these days.) It's a total hole-in-the-wall but don't let that stop you from trying it out! The servers are so sweet. My little boy is learning Spanish and they were so kind to him when he completely butchered it in the most adorable way possible. My last visit to the restaurant was for shrimp tacos, which were so awesome. They remind me of shrimp tacos from Baja California (oh man, I feel a need for a cruise to Ensenada coming on baby!). The best part is they are still delicious later! Often, the tortillas will become stale and icky but not La Terraza's! I also got their guacamole that was so creamy and flavorful that I was eating it with a spoon after I ran out of chips! My husband got their pollo con crema and it was an otherworldly experience. I have dinner in the crock pot and now I just want La Terraza! They're closed today though so I guess it won't be happening. read more

We found this small Mexican place near the outlet mall. A few miles away in Marysville. Their menu looked fabulous and we were craving for Mexican food. It's part of a small shopping strip, surrounded by different restaurants. Beware, it may not give you the best impression once you park outside. We stopped for dinner around 6ish; luckily it wasn't crowded at the point of time. We picked one of the booths. Even before we settled, the chips and salsa arrived. Fresh from the kitchen - very good with their hot salsa. The ambiance of this place quite great - have that authentic look. Not like the fake stuff many restaurants have put up. So many options on their menu. We picked Taquitos Rancheros with Guacamole and Sour Cream for the appetizer. Also the Avocado Tostada and the Chicken Fajita Burrito. They serve the dinner combo with beans and rice - we wanted to try the Avocado tostada. They served the Taquitos first. I was hoping for the softer ones - but it was the hard shell one. 4 rolled tacos filled with chicken and cheese - and it's deep fried. Topped with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and ranchero cheese. Delicious I would say. Hot and green salsas were also available on the side. Chicken Fajita Burrito was a total surprise. It's a wet burrito, but it came with the beans and rice again. Grilled chicken, sliced and wrapped in a flour tortilla with beans and rice. It's topped with melted cheese, sauce, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. A lot of flavors in this one. Loved this one along with the Salsa verde. Avocado tostada was good too. It's a simple construct - Flat taco loaded with chicken, beans, cheese and lots of avocado slices. No special flavor to that. But tasted great with the hot salsa served. Service was amazing. Staffs were friendly and always there to assist as. Service is quite fast as well. You have an option to pay online as well. Overall we are super happy with this place. Delicious food, amazing service, great ambiance. They have plenty of options in their menu. Taco is very very cheap! They have lunch and dinner options as well. If you are around this area and craving for Mexican food, I would definitely recommend this La Terraza! read more

Our first road trip down to States in over a year and a half so we had to go somewhere to get our Mexican fix. We decided to try out La Terraza Mexican Food & Taqueria. It's in a plaza that also houses Mai's Restaurant Thai Cuisine and Marysville Osaka Sushi & Teriyaki. We dropped in on a Saturday (around 12:15pm) and snagged a table booth. Service was friendly but our main complaint was that they didn't inform us of all the extra charges. The menu consists of two pages; appetizers, house special (meats), authentic plates, traditional combinations, tacos and burritos. We were told that they don't offer lengua anymore. The lunch specials ($8.99 US) seem to be the best deal (only available Monday to Friday, before 3:00pm). - Sauces - they brought out three bottles (salsa verde, smoky salsa roja and a hot salsa). All were tasty. - Champurrado ($2.99 US) - seasonal drink (only offered from October to April). We've never had it before. Slightly thicker mouth feel with notes of cinnamon and anise. It's a warm, comforting chocolate drink. - Chips and salsa - chips were light but the salsa was very minimal and lacked substance. - Tacos de birria o vampiros, estilo Guadalajara ($12.99 US for 4) - they charged for the consomé ($1.99 US extra) which doesn't make any sense. The whole point of getting this style of tacos is to dip them in the consomé. Our first time trying this; meat had good flavour and you could add radish, onion and cilantro as you pleased. Radishes were oddly thick and chunky. Worth a try but I'd stick with their tacos ($1.99 US each) instead. - Enchiladas Mexicanas ($10.99 US) - beans and rice were standard fare but the quesa fresco sprinkled on the beans was a nice touch. We were told we could pick a meat so we opted for the chorizo. Unfortunately, we weren't informed that it was $2.00 US extra. At least the chorizo was done well. Enchilada was solid but there wasn't much of the red sauce. Food was decent but beware of the additional charges. 3.5 stars. read more

Lived in California, have visited Tijuana a few times. Visited Chuhuahua a few times. Visited local restaurants, in those cities, that are recommended by and went with the local people. Visited best-rated taco places in San Diego. I have to admit that La Terraza has the BEST chips and tacos I have ever had in my life. Chips are fresh! Tacos are made fresh to order. They all tastes great. I tried a few types. Service is great. Nothing to complain. Note: Check if they charge a fee to use CC! I got charge $.50 for a total order of $13. Not sure if there is always a charge or minimum to avoid a few is higher than that. I didn't bother to ask cause after a tip the total is still the same as what I plan to give. I just got my Uber Eats order from this place. To be clear this is not an Uber Eats problem. I ordered the burrito with carne asada (steak) something I do from many restaurants. I received the meal along with chips and salsa. The chips tasted stale, as if they had been around for several days, or at the very least been left out in the air to absorb moisture. The burrito meat was also old tasting, not a freshly cooked taste, more like a cooked a few days ago, put into a refrigerator brought back out a few days later , reheated and put into my food, everyone knows what old beef tastes like and that's what I got. This is the second time I've ordered from them and there are too many good Mexican restaurants around to ever waste my money at this place again. Caveat Emptor!! read more
