A classic Adirondack restaurant that has changed their menu in recent years. I went here for the first time over 10 years ago and enjoyed it and we enjoyed it this time too. We were a party of 11 and they happily put 3 tables together for us. Our waiter was very friendly, accommodating and professional. There was something for everyone on our party. I had the prime rib on a wick roll. The meat was a little well done for my taste but otherwise good. It came with homemade chips and of course aus jus. I tried a bite of the pork Schnitzel sandwich it was served with pepper Jack cheese and onion, bacon jam, very savory. My niece had an ahi tuna and seaweed plate and my cousin had the flat iron steak. It was cooked to his liking. The fries were homemade and crispy. This is solid American food that we all enjoyed at a decent price for a "nicer" restaurant in the area. They aren't reinventing the wheel but it's a pleasant setting with good staff and decent food.

I returned to this restaurant and ordered the ahi tuna again- this time it was very over-cooked. Also the onion strings on my boyfriend's (over-cooked) steak were very stale. The soft pretzel was great.. maybe we just came on an off-night. Although we really enjoyed our dinner, the food just did not live up to the outstanding meal we got last time we ate here

Prime rib is served on Saturday nights.

Used to love going to the old mill as a kid with the big pot of soup and salad, but this has sadly changed. It has been years since I've visited, so I'm not sure when the changes occurred. We went to the hostess station to wait, and noticed a party ahead of us, no big deal. But the waiting area is small, so we tried to move out of the way. The hostess was nowhere to be found for at least 5 minutes. While we waited, another group came in behind us. When the hostess finally came back to her station, she took down the other party's info before ours. Okay, we won't fuss. We decided to go out to the bar area to get a drink and wait for our table. We looked over the menu. The bartender was very nice and accommodating. When our table was finally ready, it was pretty clear they were short staffed. The porch dining was quite full, but the dining room inside wasn't anywhere near capacity. However, it seemed there were only 2 servers on. We sat for quite awhile before our server came over. We even overheard the hostess asking if he had forgotten about us. He had. Once he came over, the meal was quite pleasant. We started with the deep fried deviled eggs, which were good. The prime rib was very good. Our kid's pot roast was very good. Husband said his prime rib sandwich was less than exciting and thought the fries were better. It was just a piece of meat between 2 slices of decent bread. Thought it was weird there was nothing else on it. Prices were a bit high for what it was. All in all, the food was pretty good and service wasn't bad once we got some. I do miss the old mill, but this one might not be bad after working out the kinks.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!! Trust me...you're better off eating cereal at home. The chicken parm was so gross!! The linguini had NO FLAVOR and the chicken was HUGE and rock hard. I want my money back.

Very cold and tasted very good

The restaurant consistently provides not only good service and good food but makes sure all local rules about Covid are enforced. VERY CLEAN with these new plexiglass partitions on the bar. Amazing place

    Huge pretzel

Loved the food. The pretzel was amazing and huge. We all loved our entreees, you get a ton, it was a bit pricey but the value was great. Drinks aren't absurdly priced and the waitress was super nice. I'd recommend it to anyone in old forge.

We were seated immediately which was awesome seeing as it was 4th of July weekend. We ordered the spinach and shrimp dip for an appetizer and we ate that up immediately. My boyfriend got a bacon cheeseburger which he thought was really good and cooked perfectly (medium rare fyi). I chose the drunken chicken which was huge and the chipotle mayo was a nice addition! Overall very good and filling. Slickers is always a good time with friendly customers and staff. I've never had a bad experience here!

We didn't realize they were attempting to close the section to the left. We waited about 25 mins. Some other families arrived with 4 and were seated immediately. We were finally seated. 10 minutes after we were seated I went back to the hostess and asked who are server is since we still didn't have drink orders. It was the server that was serving the table next to us. She never said, "oh I'll be right with you", even after she went to that table 5 times. They kept asking for drinks and crackers and more items. After I approached the hostess I saw them flag her down and ask her to serve us, not sure if she was supposed to go home, on break or what the breakdown with service happened to be. After the hostess flags her down she comes up to our table and asks for drinks, no apology for the wait or having to flag her down to get service. I said we have been here for 10 minutes, we are ready to place our full order. We order everything. It takes 11 minutes to bring 5 waters, 2 sodas, and 2 bottles of beer. This is after the place has now cleared and is quiet inside. 85% of the tables and bar are empty. 28 minutes later our food arrives. She never came back to ask for refills. She had two tables at this point, ours and a family of 4 behind us. After the food was delivered and we were eating I glanced over to the bar to see the manager, hostess, bar tender all eating chips and dip at the bar due to it all slowing down. The server came right over to ask if everything was ok and began leaving before we could answer. We would like more drinks. Buser never cleared our table. I had to put dirty dishes on the table being cleared next to us. Service was negative stars. I have two stars because the food was really good, the environment was ok. Some cobwebs in corners and the building is a little shabby, but it goes with the vibe. I would rather have stellar service and ok food than great food and not great service.

I decided last minute that I was going to take home a bunch of shucked oysters with my tuna. Score! They shucked them right there (you also have the option to take them home and do it yourself). The oysters were delicious-even though they forgot one. I was sad. Honest mistake, I guess. The ahi tuna was great-I made it in 2 different ways-tartare with spicy mayo and seared. Delicious. Really fresh seafood and I like the new (ish) location. Very spacious with a counter for coffee and takeout. I spied beer taps and there might be plans for getting those up and running at some point. Plus, there's a kitchen in the back...so stay tuned.

Moby Rick's kitchen is not ready yet so they don't have the ability to prepare any of the fish at this location. They are hoping to have the kitchen completed by Summer. For cooked fish you'll currently have to go to their Clifton Park location (which currently is only providing takeout during the COVID-19 restrictions). Since we were in Saratoga we decided to check out their new location and bring something home to cook for dinner. There was a lot of fresh fish to choose from and we narrowed it down to either halibut or sea bass. I decided on the sea bass because we've never cooked it at home before. It was about $35/lb., which is a fair price. My wife prepared it with some white wine, butter and shallots and it was absolutely delicious. The fish was so fresh and tasty.
