What awaits hungry diners behind the green door? Some of the best eats in the ADK mountains! This place has a loyal and dedicated local following, and for good reason ! As the food, portions, service and atmosphere is absolutely worth coming back over and over again. Especially for breakfast, as the food is exceptional, flavorful and delightful to endulge in. However, a word to the wise: be prepared as the portions are epic. (Think pancakes the size of dinner plates) Note: this place is ALWAYS busy for breakfast, but do not be daunted by lines as the staff is highly efficient at seating guests. And while sometimes there can be a short wait to get a booth, it is worth waiting 100% of the time. Clean: Ticket times: Menue verity & value: Order accuracy; Atmosphere: Cost: ($ = inexpensive to $$$$$ pricy): $$

Blueberry pancake. Yes that's just one and they don't make it smaller (I asked)

This is your typical neighborhood friendly, where everyone knows your name, mom and pop diner aka diamond in the rough. My boyfriend said it was the best damn French toast he's ever had in his life and I was so hungry that little ol me got the challenger. No judgment was given either haha. I'll post the pics for your own satisfaction. It was so good from the coffee to the food to the service we ate there every morning on our camping trip. Yep.... Sure did!!!

Can't say I feel very welcome here when you get seated and are told there is not tap water. Only bottled water is available for guests. We asked why this was and were told it would take 5 people to get a glass of water and it's not worth the cost. Maybe change your advertisement to "The Aliasso Family will nickel and dime you on your family vacation"

My fiance and I love a good diner. He and I came here before a hike at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning in mid October. We sat at the counter. The waitress was super friendly and super attentive. I ordered a western omelet and my fiance ordered 2 eggs with bacon, toast, and homefries. We ordered 1 large chocolate chip pancake to share. The portions were large and tasty. The coffee was good and plentiful. No complaints here! We were well fed and ready for our 10 mile hike

Fresh haddock, amazing, fresh cut fries, amazing. Great service! Clean place! Loved it.

HUGE PANCAKES!! Best breakfast place in Old Forge by far. The French toast is made on Italian Bread which makes it even better. And the homemade muffins are delicious. They have iced and hot coffee which was a plus for my girlfriend. We sat outside because it was the only table left as it was very busy. The line just kept on growing, which leads me to my only negative about this place. Our service was slow, like very slow. However, because of how good the food was, I will give this place 5 stars. The service was almost like they forgot about us outside. They might've been short staffed or maybe it was just super busy but the service was slow. Breakfast was GREAT, so we will return!

Open face Delmonico steak sandwich with fries- Yum........

Always interesting at this place, Harder than hell to get in here during busy season So today it wasn't the busy season so we stopped got right away. Definitely a tourist place our food and service was good. My wife had the open face Delmonico steak sandwich with onions and peppers it was delicious. I had the Philly steak sandwich that was on special also delicious. I tried the Homemade hot sauce very tasty and a pleasant surprise I had to take a bottle home which they have for sale. It's definitely a tourist place as I said before and it is pricey but the food was good there is no free water you here you have to Settle for a bottle of water which is nice and cold at $3.75 per. I had some unsweet iced tea and that was $3.00 With no refills. Just wanted to let you be aware there is no free water. Anyhow her experience was OK. Would we go again most likely After all it's a tradition and you're an Old Forge. As I said before the Both the service and food we're good.

The firehouse burger, a special today, came topped with pickled hot peppers and was served with seasoned fries.

Bartender was friendly and chatted with us for a quick minute as he served a large crowd. The burgers that went by as we stood there looked scrumptious and huge. I would venture to say the food must be good based on the looks of it and the size of the dining crowd. When we sat outside with the gorgeous view from the upper deck people below were getting pizzas that also looked delicious and I'd say about 18" with fresh looking ingredients. I cannot attest to flavor but the smells were awesome. Next time we will stop later and grab a bite for dinner.

My only recommendation is they do a princess plate (half portion) because there was so much I was full within 5 minutes! The food was delicious and the bartenders were great company. The beer varieties were nice and I actually loved their seltzer. It has no flavor and they have a variety of flavor syrups to add to it, the lavender with it is very refreshing. We didn't realize they were attempting to close the section to the left. We waited about 25 mins. Some other families arrived with 4 and were seated immediately. We were finally seated. 10 minutes after we were seated I went back to the hostess and asked who are server is since we still didn't have drink orders. It was the server that was serving the table next to us. She never said, "oh I'll be right with you", even after she went to that table 5 times. They kept asking for drinks and crackers and more items. After I approached the hostess I saw them flag her down and ask her to serve us, not sure if she was supposed to go home, on break or what the breakdown with service happened to be. After the hostess flags her down she comes up to our table and asks for drinks, no apology for the wait or having to flag her down to get service. I said we have been here for 10 minutes, we are ready to place our full order. We order everything. It takes 11 minutes to bring 5 waters, 2 sodas, and 2 bottles of beer. This is after the place has now cleared and is quiet inside. 85% of the tables and bar are empty. 28 minutes later our food arrives. She never came back to ask for refills. She had two tables at this point, ours and a family of 4 behind us. After the food was delivered and we were eating I glanced over to the bar to see the manager, hostess, bar tender all eating chips and dip at the bar due to it all slowing down. The server came right over to ask if everything was ok and began leaving before we could answer. We would like more drinks. Buser never cleared our table. I had to put dirty dishes on the table being cleared next to us. Service was negative stars. I have two stars because the food was really good, the environment was ok. Some cobwebs in corners and the building is a little shabby, but it goes with the vibe. I would rather have stellar service and ok food than great food and not great service.

This would end up costing my $17 and change, expensive and not a good value. The food was served cold, clearly not made in house, and service was indifferent at best. Go someplace else, like one of the restaurants in Inlet, about 5 miles up canyon. Getting wait staff attention for some coffee was the first challenge and indication of the pending experience. The food took over 45 minutes to come out, even for such a simple order, and the 2 times I was able to grab attention for a coffee refill really felt like I was imposing on someone. The gravy arrived cold - not "was on the warmer for a while" cold, but "we just got this out of the walk-in" cold, and returned from a brief trip through a shower of microwaves barely warmed. The corned beef hash was clearly scooped out of a can on to the grill and was a small portion for the price. All while while trying to inject myself between wait staff and their indifference to get coffee, check, warmed gravy, water refill, etc. 7 minutes after leaving I drove past a few restaurants in Inlet, with less crowding and looking just as quaint as Keyes. I'll try there next time I'm through this area. Definitely not Keyes!
