I was really excited about going here after reading all the good reviews. I ended up getting breakfast for dinner. The hash browns were barely cooked, and quite a small portion for the cost of adding them to my meal. The french toast was average and the bacon was interesting. I have never been served such a large portion of bacon. You are probably saying to yourself who would ever complain about getting a lot of bacon. Well the bacon was really thin, and I'm not sure if it had been cooked on a grill, possibly microwaved. It just wasn't normal and it was kind of gross. So we hit up Forestport for the Eclipse and while clouds rolled in minutes before totality...the food still left us happy. CASH ONLY. And while they have an ATM, it broke while we were there...luckily, we had some. Service was outstanding. Growing up in Minnesota, you truly need to appreciate the authenticity of waitresses in smaller sized towns, they will treat you like a regular if you are kind and let you know the business end if you aren't. Basically, you get what you give. We had amazing service and awesome food. Just a GOOD FYI- they cook in order of ticket and cook to order so it can take a bit longer but it was worth the wait! read more

This place is small and very unassuming, decorated simply and is definitely on the older side. But don't let it make you think you're not getting a good meal, because you definitely are. When you're needing some good comfort food, this is the place to go. I got the hot turkey sandwich which included super thick bread and enough gravy for two sandwiches worth. I got a side of homemade macaroni and cheese and it was also delicious. Make sure you check out the board in the front to see what pies they have. I went with apple and was very happy with my choice. The server was so sweet and very attentive. I would love to go back on a Saturday for the chicken and biscuits special! read more

When I look for a diner I check Yelp and the parking lot. There should be a fair amount of cars on a weekend morning. Campbell's had a lot of them and some pulling in as others were pulling out so in we went. Cash only but they do have an ATM. I like cash only places they are working at keeping prices reasonable. We sat in the front but there is also a back room by the bathrooms. It's been around for a long time but it is very clean. Service is the friendly make you feel at home like a diner should kind. We were awful hungry by the time we got here over an hour on the road so I apologize for lack of pics. I had th English muffin sandwich with cheddar egg and bacon. The egg is folded like an omelet over the cheese keeping it from dripping or sliding out and the bacon was loaded into every bite letting you know it was there by even hanging out of the edges. Very filling! My travel companion had eggs toast and home fries and barely finished them but kept eyeballing my sandwich as he ate. Lol it was a fantastic sandwich. Went there 2 days back to back this weekend. FAST and friendly service. Food was typical diner did, but DELICIOUS! My husband ordered meat lovers omelette, but he asked that they make 2 orders to put into the one. They had a bet he couldn't finish. My money was on him! He came back the next day to do it all over again! They said they wish they had a t shirt to give him! lol Packed with meat and especially bacon his favorite. Same for my bacon cheeseburger! Exactly what you'd expect out of a delicious home cookin country diner. All the staff are a buncha sweethearts and the owner takes pride in her food. To include a laundry list of homemade pies. You just don't see homemade pie anymore and in my opinion you should'nt be able to call yourself a diner without it! Also, they serve breakfast all day, which should be another stipulation to be able to claim yourself a diner. Anyone who stops breakfast at 10:30 is not a diner! read more

Probably the most legit diner open in Forestport. I would suggest eating here before going up to old Forge is usually no way in the service is spectacular. We ordered the half pound cheeseburger along with the home cut fries and the grilled cheese which were all amazing. I ordered the burger medium rare and it came out well. Stopped by this roadside diner on my way home yesterday for a mid-morning breakfast. Terrific food! Quick and friendly service. Honestly, I can't say anything bad about this place. Full of locals. Plentiful lot parking. One waitress on duty, but she did a fantastic job. Plenty of items on the menu, and fresh coffee. I've been to a lot of diners, so maybe I'm just critical, but it was an your average diner. Not bad. Not great. The waitress certainly was friendly and kept our coffee cups filled. We went for breakfast. It's a typical breakfast menu not very large but you could get pancakes French toast omelette eggs home fries etc. We did have a side of corn beef hash which was not homemade and a little greasy. The breakfast sandwich was good but also a little greasy. (I probably should wait an hour before I post this review to see how my stomach handles it, LOL. ) So if you need a place to stop - it's clean and the food's not bad but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here. read more

Waited 2 hours for food, on a day where we were only one of two parties in the restaurant. This diner is just outside Alder Creek on Rt 28 heading to Old Forge. You really need to be watching out for it or you might just pass right by. Inside it looks like a typical diner for this area. It has no frills and it's going to be what you will expect in the more touristy areas around, but it is clean and friendly. The prices were very fair. They do not take credit cards or checks but they do have an ATM if you're short on cash. It should be noted that this place doesn't have wifi, but it has the next best thing up here: excellent LTE reception. This might be worth the drive for some people vacationing in the area. This was my first time stopping in, though I've driven by it for what seems like 20 years (don't quote me on that. I'm not sure if it has been here this long.) I had coffee, a couple pancakes, a sausage patty, & a chocolate chip muffin. Came out to about $9 and it was all very tasty. The sausage was exceptional. The coffee and pancakes were very good (I'm a bit of a pancake snob, so take my word on the flapjacks). And the muffin was also very good. There's a diner north of here a ways that I usually go to and Campbell's food was better in every way. I was pleasantly surprised with this place and I'll probably stop back again. read more

I was very disappointed with my shrimp basket. It was SO greasy from the fries.They were very much over cooked.The shrimp were minced. It was just a terrible lunch &very costly, for a MINCED shrimp basket. This is the second time, that I was very displeased. There won't be a third time. I won't return again! I used to come here all the time since I was a child, used to love it! But there are no servers except one and she tends to the regulars before the people sitting there the longest.... I sat 20 minutes before I got up at left to foresport diner because she served everyone else before me and my fiancé, she brought us waters and never came back for our order, got everyone else's order that sat down after us... it was a weekend so I understand being swamped and she was the only server on, but it was disrespectful. I also work as a server and so I sympathize for her, but being a server I also always tip 40%, i don't know the exact reason why she kind of ignored us but I won't be back read more

Have been here three times, and every time have left happy. Breakfast is available all day which is always a bonus for me. Open 7 days a week! 7 am. - 9 pm. This diner seems pretty new. The inside is bright, clean and cheery, just like the the waitstaff. The menu is extensive and the prices are fair. There's always a special. Today was macaroni & cheese. Fish is served daily. There's a large choice of pies, all of which are baked here.
