Boondocks is a great place to go when you wanna get out of the house! When you walk into the restaurant it looks exactly like a Adirondack forest. They have all this decoration to add to the feel. Including a waterfall! The service is great, the hostess sends us right to our table, and our waiter was very nice! It only took about 20-30 Minutes for our food to get here which is a decent time. My steak sandwich was excellent in its steak and toppings, my only critique is that the toasted roll could have been more substantial. My colleagues liked their salads and sandwiches as well. Good beer list. Boondocks has a separate bar area with a lot of local programming - I saw poker nights on advertisement but a lot more as well. We are Canadian and we were traveling through to Kingston and came upon this restaurant. Our relatives were visiting from Italy and they loved the atmosphere! Very country! Leaf peeping on a Saturday in September we had worked up an appetite for dinner and Yelp had this place about 15 minutes from us. 4:30 in the afternoon there were a lot of cars, trucks, side by sides, motorcycles, and a few 4 wheelers. Separate entrances for bar and restaurant. Bar side was really large too. We entered through the restaurant and were greeted right away. Entrance has an outdoor early evening feel with rock formations, a brook running through and a tree with lights very cool vibe. We chose a combo booth table as all booths were full. It was nestled in the back with one other table almost semi cave feel but full view of restaurant nice and peaceful. I ordered the salmon dinner which was tender perfectly cooked and seasoned with onion rings crispy and tender in the inside. This place rocks and might be on Tik Tok???!!! Restaurant is very dark. Servers are not very friendly and not cooperative when it comes to giving you the wrong order. A person at our table told them the wings were cold and they argued with him when he said he didn't want another order of them. Walk inside and there's a bar on the left styled like a bright, wood paneled mountain cabin with around a dozen beers on draft and a large open space for a band and dancing in select nights. Turn to the right when you walk in and it's a dining area with an Adirondack forest theme. I recommend burger and fries - the fries are slightly seasoned and very good. Stopped in this way last night for dinner for the first time. Solid restaurant with a fun wing challenge if you dare. My husband sampled the hot sauce that they use for the challenge and decided it was too hot for him. Ended up getting the appetizer sampler plate and the over the edge chicken sandwich. The sampler platter was good. The potato twisters were the standout. Wish the onion rings were more crunchy. The boneless wings and the mozzarella sticks were your average run of the mill. The over the edge Sandwich was yummy. Liked the crispy onion tangles but wish there was more kick to the sauce. Also a toasted bun would have just added to the sandwich! I have never been in this small town before. We are like ten miles from Canada and the locals preferred method of travel is a snow mobile. So, to find this gem of a restaurant was an amazing happenstance. It's wonderful lot and very attractive from the outside. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a delightful young woman that seated quickly and politely. Our witness Deanna and she was amazing all evening. This place looks like a rain forest inside and it's really cool. It's all very clean and the tables are sturdy real wood pieces of furniture. Not flimsy junk. Our drink orders were taken immediately followed by our food order. I ordered stuffed shells and my girlfriend ordered a veggie burger. We also shared a bow of seafood chowder and a side of Mac and cheese. They were extremely tasty, hot and well prepared. The main courses was first rate all the way. We shared a apple tart with ice cream for dessert and was yummy. A perfect way to end the evening. I would highly recommend this place to any traveler looking for something great. While my kids love the nature theme inside, tonight's experience was quite disappointing. Let me first say, Garret, our server, was fantastic! And the food was trash much faster than anticipated! But my scallop and shrimp scampi had 2 scallops and 3 shrimp...which is very pathetic for the cost. And the scampi had virtually zero flavor to it. A good scampi should be so flavorful you hardly notice the butter that carries the flavor over the pasta....this has virtually zero flavor aside from butter. I had to add a ton of salt and pepper to get any flavor really. My niece ordered Alfredo and added the $9.99 shrimp and ended up with about 5 shrimp...that's nearly $2 each small shrimp!!! That is horrible! My dad ordered a salad and asked for extra blue cheese dressing...he was given a salad, which itself looked amazing, with two small side cups of crumbled STALE blue cheese and zero actual dressing. And his French onion soup was just about cheese less when it should have had a good bit on top. The childrens Mac and cheese was a good size portion which really made my 7yr old happy. And the other items were okay overall. But to pay so much and get so little and zero flavor, stale cheese...just not ok. read more

Stopped here to charge our car. The restaurant decorations are really cool. There is a little stream with a maple tree in the dining room with two cute little bridges over the stream. I came here expecting sub par food as it is quite remote and there isn't much else in the area. What I found were hand crafted appetizers that blew my mind and a 14oz strip steak cooked to absolute perfection. The exterior is rustic and filled with snowmobiles in the winter which may dissuade passersby from stopping, but please don't be put off. The last few times that my boyfriend and I have been there, it took almost 15 minutes for the host/hostess to arrive and be seated. Most of the time we could see employees standing in the back of the restaurant staring but did not come over. It would have been understandable if we had been told someone was on their way to seat us instead of being stared at. Over the years, we've noticed an increase in $$ but the quality and quantity of food has not. Most of the servers are always polite but a few (younger) always seem distracted by their phones and other employees. The last time we were there, I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap and it had mostly lettuce and two pieces of small chicken. My boyfriend ordered a Blue Cheese Burger but had very little blue cheese. A time before that I ordered the Pasta Annabella and it was a watery mess. It was not what I expected and ended up not eating very much. Asked the server if that was how it was supposed to be, and she said that other people had similar issues with that specific dish. Went 1 time so far. I'm not sure if I'll be back. The service was just okay. Didn't really put much effort to a great service. And most servers really try to help out with the kids give them whatever to be good so you aka parents can enjoy meals. But this lady just didn't care about us or our kids mind you my sons are 2 1/2 and was 4 months. So they aren't much to deal but my 2 year old sometimes is a lot. All he wanted to do was try to go play in the water in the middle of the restaurant. Lol anyways the food was okay. The lobster chowder was the best. But the shrimp scampi I believe what it was. The salad I ordered for $22 was about a third of the size that I would expect for that price. I assumed that a mistake was made and that I was served a side salad instead of an entree salad, but was told that it was the right size. I brought up the issue, asked if there was a manager I could talk to, and waited at the table for about 10 minutes before being informed that the manager wasn't willing to talk about it. All in all we ended up spending over $50 on a kid's meal, a sandwich, and a tiny salad. Would have been about half that price anywhere else nearby. Bummer. read more

In town for a wedding and we were staying at the hotel directly behind it. We ate there Friday night and went back again on Saturday after the reception. There isn't a lot around and this place was a great find. It is deceiving as to it's size and how busy it is. There was only 2 cars out front Sat night but the place was packed. Patrons from the hotel I guess. Inside the restaurant is divided with the bar to the left and the dining room on the right. The restaurant was neat with a babbling brook that flowed through the dining rooms and the walls had images of forests. There were solid white trees with white lights, and even a woodpile was stacked in the corner. We probably had just under 20 for dinner on Friday night. The service was awesome and handled separate checks without a hassle. No one had a bad thing to say about their food and everyone seemed very happy. It was 10 degrees out and we were on a 7 hour road trip to Canton NY to look at a college. I was with two HS kids. We were in the middle of remote upper state NY and were starving and there were no chain stores in sight. We came across "Boondocks Restaurant". The outside of the building looked inviting with the snowmobiles and ATVs up on top. Inside the restaurant is divided with the bar to the left and the dining room on the right. It was empty as it was early. The interior was interesting! A babbling brook went through the dining rooms and the walls had images of forests. There were solid wide trees with white lights. A woodpile was in the corner. The lighting in our booth was nice to read the menu by. We ordered a steak and cheese sandwich, pasta with marinara, onion soup, cheese sandwich (special request they said they could make it). The service was good -- the place had interesting decor and the food was generously portioned. On the way out a bunch of snowmobiles were descending on the place.
