Very friendly staff and great service at the Pioneer Cafe. Even though they were busy on a Sunday we didn't feel rushed and the food was quickly served. Some people say that a diner is judged by their biscuits and gravy and half of our group ordered just that. Plenty of sausage smothered the homemade tasting biscuits. Very nice casual atmosphere conveniently located with an ample parking lot for the crowd and those with big vehicles. read more

Today (3 Nov 2023) was my first visit to the Pioneer Cafe. It will not be my last! Greeted as soon as our party of 3 entered. Very friendly Hostess. We were seated immediately (we were asked if we preferred a booth or table) and we chose a booth. Let me tell you how plush and comforting the booth was! I'm usually not a booth fan but I need to find the company that made their booths and just eat at their customers restaurants from now on . The waitress told us their daily breakfast special. They had Eggs Benedict (my all time favorite breakfast meal). I was sold on my first bite. Amazing. Perfectly poached eggs, HOMEMADE English Muffins and the ham was a bit thicker than usual with eggs Benedict but I was a huge fan! From order until meal arrived was maybe a little more than 10 minutes. The waitress checked on us a few times for drink refills which I prefer versus asking for refills. Definitely a fan of their pricing as well and will be back again soon! read more

This place is absolutely adorable!!! We had the best experience in every aspect while dining here. We were traveling from Watertown area to Saratoga when we stumbled on this little gem. The service was top notch!! I have been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years so I definitely have a great appreciation for hard working waitstaff's. We were greeted, seated and served right upon entering. Our coffees and water never got below half. Our food was delicious. My 7 year old son gave the pancakes a 20 on a 1-10 scale lol. The (I can only assume ) owner came over to our table and asked my son what grade he was going into and all about his school. That was really sweet. We definitely enjoyed our experience and agreed we would definitely be back the next time we travel that way!! read more

My family arrived at the Pioneer cafe at noon on a Saturday and it was busy but we were seated right away. Three of use had the special, Stuffed Turkey sandwich. Hand carved turkey, stuffing and cranberry with a side of gravy, I had it on thick cut amazing wheat bread. It was awesome, the French fries were great as well as the homemade chips. Stopped for a late breakfast today and we were seated in a booth right away. Coffee was good, waiter checked back a couple times and refilled the coffee. Home made toast and food was good as well as presentation. Why 3 stars? Well I didn't post pictures (was distracted and forgot to take them). . . But as nice as everything was the portion size wasn't big but the prices seem to be. . . Over $30 for two breakfasts and two coffees is pretty steep, especially for a town like Lowville. Maybe lunch would seem like a better value, based on the service and location I'd definitely give it another shot. read more

My husband, teenager and I went here for the first time on a recent Sunday morning, and it was amazingly good. I had the 2-2-2 with two eggs, two pieces of French toast, and two pieces of bacon. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection - especially the French toast, which was made with thick Italian bread and just crispy enough. We waited quite a while for our food, but the servers were super friendly and kept the coffee coming. Went in late July with my sister just before closing. The food was great....loved everything about the place along with the service and owner. That leads me to the service. I accidently left my credit card on the counter and didn't realize it until I was home in Mass. I called the next day and they graciously mailed it back to me at my request. Not only is that above and beyond, but I also felt the trust and faith in the security of my card in their hand. Good job on all fronts! read more

The Pioneer Cafe is my favorite restaurant in all of Lewis County. Family owned and operated, they feature home cooking that is fresh and flavorful. The facility is spotless and the ambiance warm and welcoming. The staff is attentive, friendly and kind. I had the turkey dinner and it was delicious! If I had to choose just two words for the Pioneer Cafe, I'd say "Superior Quality." Thanks to the folks here, I had a wonderful hearty meal the day before Christmas Eve. I am grateful! read more

Recently opened after complete renovations to this former country store located right on Route 12 at Glenfield, NY. The Pioneer Cafe is very nicely decorated and offers Breakfast and Lunch Tuesday through Saturdays, with Breakfast only service on Sundays. Try the homemade English muffins--fresh, whole wheat and delicious. The coffee cup never got empty and we had friendly hometown service. My "Shorty with a Hat" offered two buttermilk pancakes topped with one egg and served with real maple syrup! They offer a private eating, or meeting space for groups ups to 24.
